"On August 5th, Staples.com charged $595.36 to my credit card for a Monitor from their online store, Staples.com. I did not place this order, nor do I want the product. Approx. a week later, the monitor arrived at my house, and this is when I went online and found the bogus charge on my card via Homelink. Looking at the packing slip, the product was ordered by somebody else. This person had the same name, but a completely different address. If you look at the UPS tracking information for this package, you will see they first attempted to bill and deliver to the other person. However, that came back as a bogus address. So, staples looked up somebody else who just happened to have the same name (me) as this person, then charged my card and shipped me this item I didn’t order!
I contacted staples via their customer support email address on 3 separate occasions and they promised to fix this, but took no action to do so. I indicated each time to Staples I would be GLAD to send them back their monitor, if they merely provided me with the ups pickup tag.
I had to actually go to the credit card company to dispute the charge.
Be VERY wary of dealing with Staples, as they WILL store your CC info, even if you tell them not to, and if you happen to have a common name, you could find yourself billed for soembody else's stuff!"
"I'VE HAD IT WITH THESE JERKS!! I think I'll have my head examined now for ordering from them again. These people are crooks and I am FED UP with their rebate fraud. They always SEARCH for some *excuse* for not honoring rebates, and THEY ARE FILLED OUT PERFECTLY AND CORRECTLY WITH ALL MATERIALS REQUESTED IN THEIR ALLOTTED TIME!! It's bad enough when they CLAIM there is an additional rebate for an item AT THEIR WEBSITE, then you order it, and find out there IS NONE!! Now, once again, they (Staples/Parago) are claiming the main rebate is also invalid!! Here is what I sent them:
"EVERYTHING WAS SENT IN AS IT WAS REQUESTED!! I got the damn rebate FROM YOU and FILLED IT OUT AT YOUR ****ING WEBSITE, SUBMITTED IT AT YOUR WEBSITE THEN MAILED IT IN WITH ORIGINAL INVOICE AND UPC CODE TO THE ADDRESS REQUESTED!!! Now, what the hell is wrong with that!!!!!! You jerks CONSTANTLY HARASS people with your damn rebates, claim there are rebates when they are NOT any (which is FRAUD, and you committed that on this exact same rebate by claiming there was an additional $10 rebate when there was NOT), and we are NEVER ordering from you again and will our DAMNEDEST to warn others about your scams!!!!!!!! We are going to file fraud charges against you for this bullsh*t. I am FED UP with your crap!!!!!!!! You either PAY UP the $30 YOU OWE BY LAW, or suffer the consequences!! DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR???" [end] They don't even update you and tell you of any problems! I just happened to check the rebate status portion of their site and found out! Now, if they HONOR their rebates like THEY ARE REQUIRED TO BY LAW, I will leave it at that and will post an update here to that effect. If there is no update, then you be assured they have once again defrauded a customer out of a rebate (in my case, another two rebates). Now if that's not bad enough, I was OVERCHARGED for the order, charged MORE that what the FINAL ORDER TOTAL CHARGED SHOWN BY THEIR WEBSITE was, and they will NOT refund the overcharge!!!!! I got some patronizing condescending smart a*s email from some guy stating *we can send you the receipts to show it is correct* and I'm looking at the invoice right in front of me showing he's a liar!! I even SENT them the original final order charge page from their website (that I always make screen shots of) and they still deny it!!!"
"This more of an in store rating. I'm disabled and when I walk in the store 3 or 4 people will be standing around chatting and after about 10 minutes I'll usually just walk out. The one decent salesperson works there no more. There is one woman in particular---got on my case. I was talking about a freind that ordered from a company that charged his ATM (stating the part was in)on the day of his order and he had to wait 3 weeks for shipment to start. This woman thought this is O.K.,and if I were to order anything I would have to pay the full amount in advance. They have lost me as a customer!"
"I ordered a leather chair from Staples.com. I had a coupon, so I figured I would get a good deal on it, considering it would ship next day free. The following day, a guy in a Staples shirt came to my door and asked if I ordered the chair. I said yes, and then he told me that it was put on the wrong truck. I wasn't in any hurry, so I said fine and I waited until the next day. The next day I got a phone call at about 10:00 in the morning from someone at Staples telling me that they put the chair I ordered on the wrong truck and I wouldn't get it until Monday (the next busines day). I couldn't believe how Staples could make this mistake twice in a row. The CSR said that if I don't get it by 3:00 to call them and they would try to send out another for Friday. Later that day though I got the chair and I thought the situation was done. Except I got another call from Staples at about 5:00 asking about who left the chair (they didn't know if a staples truck delivered it or someone else).
I would order from Staples again, but only if I had a coupon or could pricematch something to counteract their high prices. Also, they definately have some orgainzation problems to work out."
"I have good service from staples except for 1 thing. You will never be able to pricematch an item if the staples website states that it will ship in 1 day. Staples will add next day shipping to the pricematched website even though their shipping is ground and is coincidental that it arrives the next day. This is just a tactic to avoid pricematching. I have had some success when staples states 3-5 day shipping because this negates the next day argument. But don't waste your time trying to get a pricematch on a 1 day shipping item"
"Order shipped fine, except for a defective printer cartridge in a twin pack of cartridges. When attempting to return the cartridge, they credited me for $27 -- half the price of the twin pack ($54 USD) -- and then charged me for a single pack of the same cartridge which was $38, so I was essentially paying $11 extra to exchange the cartridge when the cartridge was defective! However, I called them again and they evened the exchange on the defective cartridge. Kind of a disturbing mishap. I hope it doesn't happen again. They will get my business again..."
"I placed an order for a Cendyne 32x CD-RW that was a great deal after a coupon and rebate. Two days later I check on the order status and it stated that the burner was no longer in stock, my order canceled, and not even placed on back order. Now the coupon is expired and the great deal isn't as great. This is certainly not the worst case, but it hasn't been pleasant.
It'd be nicer if one could check on the availability of an item before/during checkout, rather than becoming anxious only to have the order canceled a few days later.
On the flip side, I ordered Maxtor hard drive a year ago (also had a great coupon + rebate) and, with the exception of a delay in sending the rebate, everything went smoothly."
"One of the worst and sleaziest retailers I've encountered in many years.
They price matched another company on an Antec 1080B computer case. Many other customers had purchased his same case from Staples..so I placed my order.
Staples cancelled my order the next day, after the first retailer's sale was over.
I was told to get a price quote from another company, which was a few dollars cheaper.. and Staples told me I had to wait for corporate to call me.
I've wasted an entire day and still no call."
"The items come quick and with free shipping, it's even better (order more than $50). With coupon that lower the price and the most reliable rebate process I ever submited, it just so great and hope they will continue with their good offers to the customers.
Some cons., some local store got very arrogant managers but over all I love to shop with staples."
"It has been a pleasure shopping at staples online and over the phone. CSRs were very helpful and very quick at it as well. Shipping is very fast and the deals are great. Right now i'm in the process of placing anohter order."
"I ordered a Photosmart P1000 printer for $160 (after 40 off $200 coupon) + paper clips.
I received the paper clips after 2 days and the printer approx. after 4 days from UPS."
"Ordering from Staples is very nice. I got a new CD-RW drive and a new Hard Disk Drive and they were being deliverd three days later, right on time. I used coupons they sent me after my last order, and after this one, they sent me even more! Gotta love it."
"Bought a camera that was onsale with an instant coupon that made it 159, which was quite the deal for a 2.1 MP camera. Delivered today, May 16, just as advertised. Only thing to watch for.. sales tax (because they have B&M stores in a lot of states). Also wish they had packaged it a bit better (just a box in a box, no packing material), but it was delivered in perfect shape by UPS."
"Went to local Staples Store and saw offer for a Lexmark Z53 at $129 with a $30 Staples cash card given as a rebate. This was clearly marked on the display that if you purchased from that point until April 16, you would be eligible for the rebate. When I went online to check the status, I saw that I was not eligible because I did not purchase the item during the timeframe the offer was valid (despite the fact that the display in the store clearly stated that I was eligible.) I have had good luck with Staples, but this is absolutely atrocious customer service and very misleading. You can do well with their 110% price matching guarantee because they (unlike many stores) match Internet pricing. Your mileage will definitely vary with Staples. "
"I purchased a McaFee firewall from staples. They had a very good selection and resonable prices.
I will gladly do buisness with them again."
