"I think I've given up on Staples. They are very bad about the inventory status on their site. I've had several orders canceled because they say they are out of stock. Also they use every excuse possible to NOT honor their own pricematch policy. I suggest you only use them if you're getting a great deal (steal) using a big coupon or something (and the order does NOT involve pricematching another company)"
"I ordered my Canon S30 on Jan. 3 and expect to receive my package on Jan. 10 as stated on the ordering status on the Staples website. Shipment never arrived and got a call on Jan. 13 from Staples stated that they are going to cancel my order because Canon discountinue the production of S30, and trying to offer my an less functional camera for the same price. I called Canon direct sales and asked them is the S30 discountinued from production, and they said I was misimformed. I called Staples back and asked them why they are lying about the discountinuation of S30, and they said they were informed by Canon Rep. I ask them to put on a threeway call to Canon, and they refused and said will call me back. They never did.
I used to buy office supplies from Staples and I think this experience has changed my mond about this company. They do not honor their own coupons and discounts. They are careless about satisfy thier customers. BE AWARE OF THIS COMPANY."
"These guys will go to any length to avoid honoring their own pricematch policies. I still order from them occasionally because with coupons+pm they have some incredible deals, but it usually takes quite a few tries to get a csr that will honor their own policies. BAD seller, only use them if you can get a steal using coupon codes and such, if you can get what you want for the same price elsewhere then do so."
"Staples’ great customer service
These guys come through every time.
I bought the black Friday sale speakers from Staples.com. I received an email this morning stating that my $30 rebate was rejected. (The DELIVERY slip was dated AFTER the rebate cutoff.) I had scanned the completed rebate forms, the UPC, online order verification: everything.
Took hardcopies to the Tigard B&M. The customer service guy says, “I’ll fix it. Did you bring the card that you used?” I’ve been in the store two minutes by the time that he’s credited my card!
Then he tells me that Staples is implementing new policies to give their managers even more freedom to make sure that their customers are taken care of.

"Bought 30 gb hard drive and received it next day. Great packaging. I bought from them before and rebate center is fast. Great customer support. I lost my receipt for rebate and they are sending me a new one within a week :) A+++"
"This company has MAJOR ups and downs!!! They do not keep the stock of an item in realtime, thus a lot of orders get canceled (at least they're polite enough to call). Twice I've had problems wit this company! The first time, I ordered a maxtor usb 2.0 card. The processing time was around two days, then I get a call saying that the item was out of stock. I was ok with that, and I took the time to wait for the product (which I am pleased with). This time, on the other hand, did not run so smoothly... I ordered a 50pk of Optimum cd-r's, it showed that the cd-r's should be arriving today, but all that arrived was a phone call saying that it was out of stock. Since the rebate on it would expire on the 28th (today being the 27th), there really is not anything I can do to rectify the situation. If staples would only keep their stock updated, many of us would not run into problems such as this.
On a lighter note though, staples does have decnet shipping times unlike companies like BestBuy."
"Be very careful with those $ off coupons! Your order confirmation (after you've clicked 'Submit Order') will reflect the coupon, but when you look up your order status later your coupon will be gone and you are charged the full price!"
"I ordered encarta from them at best price on web. I didnt enter cupon code so they charged me full price. I called and they remedied the situation right away and credited my card. However encarta did not arrived for couple weeks so I called again and it was ups, they sent another and it arrived in three days. Crap happens, but if you want to be crapped on go to buy.com "
"I have ordered many items from Staples.com in the last few years and I was satisfied with their service.
But on November 9, 2002. I ordered 2 telephones from them. In their website, it said that there would be a $20 gift check if I order the telephone. So I ordered two. When I received the telephones, I didn't get the gift checks. So I called them, the first representative told me to go to my local store to talk to the store manager. I told him that in their website, it said nothing about that it was a mail-in offer or in-store offer. He finally told me to call the rebate center. And I found out that it is a mail-in offer that allows only 1 per customer/family/address. Even I am going to send in the rebate coupon, I can only get 1 check. And the representative said that they were sorry about that but there was nothing they could do. So I was misled by them to buy more than 1 phone.
And the first representative was kind of rude too."
"I have bought TONS of stuff from Staples over the past two years. They are far and away the best retailer in terms of service and customer support, both before and after the sale. Their prices can be a tad high, but you won't be disappointed if you buy from them."
"I found a superb deal for a Maxtor 80GB hard drive that I simply could not pass up, so I ordered it. Apparently, I wasn't the only person who ordered it, in fact, Staples.com was sold out in a matter of 2 days. They shipped the hard drive sooner than I expected, and so far it is performing very nicely inside my PC. I'll definitely shop at Staples again if they continue to have these great deals!"
"Bought a compaq presario laptop, very good deal.
Staples said that the dilivery date was going to be November 18, instead the package came on November 8th.
They seem to do strange things to your back account, first they took a $1, then the cost of the item, then they returned all of it, then a couple days later took it again (???).
Did not provide me with a tracking number or anything."
"I ordered a Panasonic 2 Line cordless phone item # 465952. The cost was $199.99. I get the phone, and found that the RJ11 wires were wrapped with a twist tie and loose in the box, but were not sealed in cellohpane. No big deal right? But, you know when you buy a phone and there is a clear film protecting the display? You have to peel this off. There was no such clear film on this phone, not even on the handset. But, that's not all. The printed material that was in the box along with the user manual was folded as if someone had finished reading it, folded it, and put it back in the box. My feeling was the phone was used. Ok, so I made a few calls on it, and people were not able to hear me on the full duplex speaker phone. I called Staples and spoke with Jason. He sent a truck out, they picked up the phone and dropped off a replacement. Guess what? The RJ11 wire was also loose in the box, wrapped with a twist tie, no cellophane. However, this time there was no cordless handset in the box. I called Staples and Schawn took the call. She was doing fine up until the point when she ended the call. She said, "Thanks for almost shopping with Staples" She laughed and I did too, but after I hung up I said that was a stupid thing for her to say. I mean, I bought other things from them, that cost just as much. I will only buy paper goods from them and nothing else. I was given a full refund."
"I have had problems of any kind with my 5 or 6 purchases from Staples.com."
