"I really like the tailored experience that comes with using you vin#. It takes the guesswork out of multiple like parts for the same model vehicle.
I am changing the transaxle fluid in my RAV4 and thought I pick up many other hard to find maintenance parts that big “A” may have, or send the wrong part, or the local auto shops don’t really stock. But I spent a good hour plus browsing and writing down part number and prices so I could comparison shop and found that I just need to place my order on the closest dealership that ships parts.
So I pick the default dealership a few hundred miles away since it will be shipped and then loaded up my cart with my selections. That took another 15 minutes because I already knew what I wanted and had part numbers.
As I’m loading the cart I notice the price is lower than msrp and thought maybe the dealerships in my state had even better prices if I comparison shop them.
That’s when the real nightmare began. I have a full cart and would like to go to another dealership. Nope! Doors locked! I tried for another twenty plus minutes to find some way to change it. Denied! Like a house of mirrors I couldn’t do it. But I already have a full cart! I just had to see if I could shave a few bucks off.
Long story longer I had to open up a new parts window and do it all over again with the new dealership. Same after that. Finally after multiple windows open I was able to choose the lowest bidder.
I saved a cool $6 by window shopping several locations.
You know looking back, it may not have been the best use of four and a half hours of my time, but it sure gave me the real dealership experience in the comfort of my own home. I think I’ll bump my rating up one star for that.

Edit: The rating is for parts.Toyota.com not Stevenson Toyota West. It’s just unfortunate for them that the beginning website lacks a rating pop up or I would have done this there. "
