"I ordered a cheap ($29.99 + $9.00 S/H) impact wrench advertised as new with 4 sockets and case. I received a HEAVILY USED wrench with 4 NON-IMPACT sockets (NOT SAFE to use with an impact wrench) that were not even the sizes listed on the case's paper label.
I emailed Surplus Computers, including all information stated above and complete order/invoice info, to request 1) per their published policy, a replacement with the item AS ADVERTISED or equivalent and 2) prepaid shipping label for me to return the item I received.
The response I received did not acknowledge what I wrote, did not respond to my request for a prepaid shipping label and included only an APPLICATION for an RMA.
This was my first experience with Surplus Computers. I have done a LOT of business over the web in the last 10 years. I WILL NEVER AGAIN DO BUSINESS WITH SURPLUS COMPUTERS AND RECOMMEND OTHERS DO THE SAME."
"Fast shipping and good price on Logitech wireless PS2 controller"
"Purchased 3 ATX power supplies and the cases were a little tweaked when they arrived but I thought they would probably be ok anyway.I tried the power supplies in several different systems and they would power up but not boot any of the systems. Asked for and received an RMA two months ago. Sent the power supplies back and waited two weeks then inquired in an email about the status. I was told they had not been checked yet. Waited another two weeks and go the same answer. Never have received the replacements and it looks like I have been ripped off, if nothing else it has taken way too long to get the replacements."
"Ordered a 21" monitor on October 5th, 2004 and recieved an order confirmation in my email. Too weeks later, I had yet to recieve the product or any sort of contact whatsoever. For the next week, I left multiple messages on their telephone and sent multiple emails inquiring about my order. After about a week of emailing and telephoning, I finally got an email response telling me that they had cancelled my order because they did not have any more monitors in stock. Aside from that single email that took me 2 weeks of waiting and 1 week of emailing, I had recieved no message at all as of the status of my order.
This is a VERY unprofessional web site and I will never order from them again."
"Ordered an optical mouse from them, received the wrong product (which was inferior by the way). Emailed them couple times and they offered to ship me the correct mouse along with a shipping label to mail the wrong product back. Took them a while to finally get the product I ordered but the overall encounter with this company is pretty good. "
"Order fast, accurate, and timely. Repeat customer."
"products ordered were replaced with undervalue products. Products were out of stock but still on their web page. I was assured that replacement product would be of equal quality but inferior product was shipped. It looks to be this company makes money by shipping inferior replacement products and still having the products on their web page to purchase. "
"It took over 2 weeks to receive Nero. I never received a shipping confirmation. I sent an email four days ago asking if my order had shipped, and never received a reply. They're cheap, but don't order here if you're in any hurry at all."
"UNORGANIZED and DECEITFUL
Lots of dusty components in unmarked boxes without any prices. Items in this area are marked as a dollar.
Waited in the hot sun for 45 MINUTES to pay for power adapter.
Steve does not believe that the item found was for a dollar.
What a waste of time. Go to SurplusComputers if you want them to put you to work sorting out unlabeled items. If Steve finds it useful, he will jack up the price and keep it for himself.
Not shopping here ever!
"
"I like the variety of products available and the prices are really great. Easy to use web site for ordering as well."
"This company although many of the items may not be "branded names" their stuff is quality and they are very fast on order and s/h processing."
"This company lost my order - lied about it and never responded to phone calls or email.
This is the email that I sent Software and Stuff after two weeks of waiting for my order:
Thanks for the lies about the status of my order !!
Is this the "norm" for how you do business ??
Ref: Order 176661 from Surplus Computers, 1600 Duane Ave. Santa Clara, CA
95054
I placed an order nearly two weeks ago (August 9th) that I never received.
When I called shipping last week there was no answer - just the same recording
that I always get from that number (I suspect that it is never answered - I've
called it several times at all hours and have never gotten an answer on it -
Ext. 104). I did leave messages but none were returned. So I e-mailed
shipping to find out if the ordered had been processed or shipped - no
response. No replies or call backs from voice mail and no replies from email.
So I finally get a receptionist to answer a number on August 18th and after a
ten minute wait she tells me that the order was shipped the previous Friday -
August 13th, She even gave me a tracking number, So you can imagine my
surprise to find an email this morning saying that you had just shipped my
order yesterday (after my phone call) on August 18th and that it will not be
delivered until August 25th.
I ordered the items because I needed them last week, not this week or even
next week. (Oh, yeah... one of the e-mails was to ask about getting faster
shipping - also not answered)
Most people would think that after being lied to, and having your order delayed
(for whatever reasons) that the company might have at least overnighted the
order to make up for the week and a half already lost.
Thanks for losing my order (that's how it appears)
Thanks for not answering the phone.
Thanks for not returning my voice mails about my order.
Thanks for not responding to my e-mails about my order.
Thanks for the lies. (she was very convincing)
and after all that... Thanks for making we wait even longer by using the
slowest shipping possible.
Regretfully,
Greg Tucker

"There are two things I really hate about SurplusComputers. One is that they are in California, so I can't hang out in their store all day, and the other is that they really appreciate what a cheap, cheap, guy likes. I've bought stuff that I have no expectation of using simply because the the price was right. On balance, though, in spite of the SCSI drives acting as bookends, good stuff, cheap, promptly delivered."
"If the orders are completed without a hitch on the web site things run smoothly and it is a great shopping exprience. Getting help on the phone though is difficult if not impossible unless you have some idea of an extension number to call. Also, Shipping charges can be excessive on some items. The costs don't seem to be directly related to shipping rate or zone. I have emptied my cart many times because the shipping charges have exceeded 30%to 40% of the cost of the merchandise. $33.00 shipping on $77 worth of merchandise to a location 90 miles from Santa Clara turns a bargain into deal that can easily be beat at the local Office Max."
"Fast shipping and merchandise as described. Good job Surplus Computers"
