"Swansons has a REALLY WEIRD WAY of processing orders. Meaning they don't even put a hold on the money for 24-48 hours THEN they charge shipping SEPARATELY 2-3 days later when they finally ship the order. Oh and good luck getting the order refunded after they've overdrafted your account by charging at weird times, they'll 100% blame the banks and you'll be lucky you get anything back at all. Still waiting on what I thought would be a FULL refund but customer service says is only ten bucks (not my whole purchase) and swears they've already issued despite it not being in my bank. 100% sure they're crooks and I'll be telling everyone I know not to trust them."
"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! I received an email saying 'thank you for your order' confirmation for almost $65. worth of items. I had not ordered anything. The order was placed by someone in Georgia, and was to be sent to someone with my name in Texas. I live in New Hampshire. The customer's name and address were clearly stated on the order and it was not me. Someone there was too stupid or lazy to make sure the order went to the correct account, and just picked the first person in their files with my name (evidently). This was the beginning of a nightmare. I immediately called them trying to correct the situation promptly. I got nowhere on the phone, with the foreign person telling me they would 'talk to the supervisor' and get back to me. They never did. Instead they sent another email saying "MY" order had been cancelled! (It wasn't my order, you idiots!) They also said my account was "flagged" and I should change my email address and my password. Are you kidding??? UM, NO! They actually tried to punish me for their stupidity. (I have lived at my address in NH for over 25 years, and had my email address for almost 20. The person who actually ordered has the same name, but lives in TEXAS. I have never lived in TX). In addition. the person who actually ordered this merchandise has still not been informed that their order was cancelled because they emailed me instead of to the email address of the 'orderer'! All this has just happened this week. In addition to trying to resolve this by phone and getting nowhere, I emailed them multiple times, also to no avail. I found the email address of their LEGAL DEPT. and I have just emailed not only customer care but also the legal dept. and demanded that they completely DELETE MY ACCOUNT, AND ALL MY INFORMATION from their site. If I don't receive confirmation of this, we will have our attorney contact them. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN, and want everything deleted from their site, and to be taken off their mailing list. STRONGLY ADVISE that you buy elsewhere. I have now found very good deals on what I need on Amazon, and it's not Swanson brand."
"I placed an order and selected the free 2 day shipping offered by Swanson as Shoprunner. Total BS! my package is now 10 DAYS out.
You won't get me again, Swanson..."
"I have been a customer of Swansons for literally decades now.
I have NEVER experienced ANY of the things that are being alleged in the reviews below. Especially the stupid one about how the price is different if you're not logged in.
What a joke!
How much are folks getting paid to write these scammer reviews? "
"I used to order from them sometime ago, so I decided to resume buying from them again. What a mistake! Orders were taking a long time to arrive, sometimes over two weeks. I do understand delays, since Covid and reduced USPS efficiency, etc. So I needed to return some items, and they provided a shipping label which I used. I dropped the package off at the post office. After a few days, I received an email stating that USPS has received the package, and that they would keep me updated as to when they got the return. After two weeks I hadn't received an update, so I called.
The woman who answered, told me that it can take up to five weeks for a return to be processed. Now, I do a lot of online shopping and nobody else takes that long! Still, I waited. This week marks the fifth week. So I called again and after being placed on hold multiple times while the rep "asked his supervisor" I was told that my package had not been received and that they couldn't refund my money. I said that I had returned their products and they needed to return my money. They refused. So I told them that I would never order from them again, and have since filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Other vendors have refunded my money as soon as the package was scanned in at the post office. But not these bozos. Can't they see that I acted in good faith and if the post office lost their package, that is not my fault? I am really sorry that I wasted my time and my money on Swanson Health Products! "
"I used to be a constant Swanson customer a long time ago. Now, after a long pause, I decided to try Swanson again just to remember the reason why I stopped buying from them in the first place.
I got a good total price after placing $150+ worth items in the basket. Then I logged in with my account and watched with my own eyes how the price suddenly jumped to $217! I opened different browser without logging into my account and checked random items for price. To my surprise, the price is lower if you are not logged in. So, in short, they charge less for guests than for long time customers. What kind of business is that?! I went to a chat and the chat lady sent me a link to click to get a better price. The link didn't work. Suddenly the price in my basket got updated to a better one... Then she cut and posted some blah blah about discounts and specials that had nothing to do with the issue. I asked her how would I get that price if I didn't notice the discrepancy and didn't contact her? She blamed computers and internet.
Now I wonder, how many times in the past I paid a higher price by the time I got to the final order? I decided to shop somewhere else, because they wouldn't even honor they promise to the military discount. To my surprise, after tying the above and logging back to my account I discovered that the total dropped by $8. What kind of games do they play? In a span of 30 minutes I saw one item priced $4.67, 6.87, and now it shows $5.66 in my basket. It's like trying to pin a tale on a donkey.
I like the products though and the quality, but cannot stand the dishonesty."
"I waited the full business days for shipping and despite my card being charged, the items were never sent after a week. I was told when I reached out that the order was cancelled the same day and they were unable to give an exact reason why. No email was ever sent telling me why the order was cancelled. They were unable to honor the same promotional price even after one week."
"Has the slowest return system. Ordered some vitamins that arrived spoiled. Returned under their 100% satisfaction guarantee. They agreed to return even though both bottles were opened. They ship a return using the slowest method possible -- it took 17 days for box to go from Atlanta, GA to Fargo, ND. Then they tell me it could take up to 30 days to process refund after arrival. WHAT?! But since they were nice, they would go ahead and issue a refund now. They obviously like to keep your money as long as possible"
"I ordered a 12-pack of Endangered Species Chocolate Bars from them on Wal-Mart's website. A single bar arrived. I complained and they responded, "I'm sorry for any confusion! We don't sell multipacks of national brand items." Right, they just ADVERTISE them!"
"Unlike most reviewers, my experience with Swanson is generally good. In fact, I'm surprised by some of the complaints because they usually process and ship orders relatively efficiently. I do note that a number of the people posting negative reviews about Swanson have not posted any other reviews here. This one will be my 40th.
That said, since Swanson was acquired by the similarly named but completely unrelated Swander Pace Captial private equity firm in early 2016, they have played increasingly complex pricing games. For example, a lot of the promotions are "40% OFF" in huge print but "up to" in tiny print. That allows them to discount products from 1 to 40%. Of course what I call a game, they call strategy and think is clever.
In short, I continue to order from them but have learned to carefully double check pricing."
"Worst customer experience ever. Botched my order. Sat on hold. Then what I wanted never got sent because it turned out it was on backorder. Never again. First, last and only time I will try this antiquated and pathetic brand. Bye. "
"this already happened twice. they cancelled my order - i have no idea why - and did not notify me in any way. they have my email and information, but i just waited for nothing. dont try to buy from them"
"So 2 times Swanson cancelled my order without telling me. My vitamin is vital for me. They have a policy where if they don't like the address if they don't like the name etc. My address is a ups store where I received everything, even the credit card statement goes there. I am really mad due to the fact that they don't tell you they cancel the order any time for any reason."
"
I placed a large order for $273 and printed out the receipt. I later got notice that my 'card' had been declined and that I would need to call a new credit card to pay for my order. My total amount due was now $346. Had I not printed out my receipt and verified the amount, I would have blindly trusted that I owed $346. I had paid the original amount through paypal, which immediately approved the initial cost but did not execute since Swanson had not completed the order.
When I called customer service, I was told that I absolutely owed $346. The person i spoke with even transferred me to another person who told me the same thing. When I insisted they got it wrong, they told me they found a glitch in their system, which resulted in the higher price. I have my doubts that this was a one time glitch.

"Bought a four month supply of a vitamin, third bottle’s contents were covered in a brown powder. Turns out the container was cracked and the contents are covered in tiny shards of glass. Being that I bought four months worth and I didn’t open the bottles until needed all customer service told me was it’s past the 30 day refund period, and that I should just throw away the damaged item...."
