"Absolutely the worst shopping experience I've ever experienced. What can I say that hasn't already been said below, though? The sales person always is friendly and deflective, the customer service team always makes a lame excuse of why the tv wasn't sent out today, but assuredly will be sent out tomorrow after waiting an hour to wait to talk to them. I've heard this excuse every single day for the last two weeks. The only thing they've been prompt about is charging my credit card. I would not be surprised at all if I learned that they don't actually ever send out any merchandise, but their business model merely was to sit and invest people's payments as long as they can. Please note also that almost any decent review has been modified. Coincidence? I highly doubt it. This place is a sham. Order cancelled! The only reason you'd ever place an order with this place is if you wanted to claim you purchased someone a gift but didn't really want to give it to them. "
"I ordered a 50" plasma and a DVD player on December 26, 2006. Tico was the sales rep. That day I got an email saying I would receive the DVD player and TV by Jan 8-10. The next day, I got a tracking number for the DVD player and it arrived on Jan 10. I called them to ask about the TV, which I hadn't even received a tracking number for, 30 min on hold, talked to Nicole. I was told it would arrive Jan 12. No TV. Called again, 30 min hold, told by Nicole it would be the following week. Called on Jan 15, 30 min on hold, told by Nicole she would try to get me a tracking number that day. I was getting pretty nervous at this point, having read the posts on this site, but amazingly, that day I got a tracking number, and the TV arrived on Jan 18, which is about 8-10 days late. So, I guess I was lucky, based on what I've read here. I would say my persistence paid off. TV Authority does seem to have pretty low prices, but you have to ask yourself how much your time is worth, because you'll probably spend a few hours on hold trying to get your stuff. Also, Tico, my sales rep said I should call him if I had any questions, but each time I called his extension, the message said his mail box was full and could not accept more messages. I get the feeling that this whole company is run by Tico and Nicole. TV Authority definitely needs to turn their situation around quickly as their reputation is being shredded on a daily basis.
In the end my experience was not *that* bad, but I would definitely not recommend TV Authority to anyone. Even if they are a bit cheaper, the stress isn't worth it to me; I'd rather pay a bit more for better, more timely service. I can only imagine what a nightmare it would be if something is wrong with an item they send you and you have to ship it back to them, swap it out, etc. "

After ordering my Samsung LN-S4695D via phone on 12/29/06, I was told by the sales rep (Cambryn) it would arrive between 1/10/07 and 1/12/07.
On 1/2/07, I noticed my credit card had been charged which goes against their posted policies. Since I was expecting my TV in 10 days or less, I didn't get too concerned.
1/12/07 came and went with no call, no email, and NO TV.
I contacted Cambryn and was transferred to Customer Service. 45 minutes later, someone finally answered the phone and said they were out of stock but assured me it would arrive by the next Tuesday.
Tuesday arrives and still no word from anyone. I call back again and Cambryn says she will check into it and let me know as soon as possible.
Another few days go by and no word so I email Cambryn to cancel my order. No response all day so I email the online system. 2 days later, still no change in the order status.
I've now contacted the BBB and I'm waiting for a response from them. It appears that my desire to watch the Superbowl on my new HDTV isn't going to happen."
"I am very satisfied with my TV purchase from TV Authority. They carried the best price for the TV I wanted, the web site was easy to use and communication post order was prompt and efficient. There was a problem, however, with the shipment, which was the fault of the trucker, and TV Authority promptly handled the issue. TV Authority is a great store to business with."
"Same experience as the rest of these folks. Credit card was charged immediately, and the status of my order has not changed. Calls to customer service never seem to go through, after waiting on hold in excess of 30 minutes. Calls to sales go right through - although all the sales person can say is that "they will look into it and get back to you" which never happens.
I have disputed the charge with my credit card company, after having asked the merchant to cancel my order.
I have never had an experience like this before."
"The most UNETHICAL, IMMORAL and UNPROFESSIONAL business I have ever had any contact with.
I ordered a plasma and they charged my card that day. (Against their policy.) TV was in stock but wasn't going to arrive until three weeks. Fine. At two weeks I called to check up on it, and they said it wasn't even going to come in until mid-January. (This was in late December.)
Smelling a rat, I cancelled the order and called my credit card company to dispute their charge. Since then TVAuthority has apologized for not getting the tv in, but it has been exactly one month and THEY HAVE STILL NOT CREDITED MY CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT.
I only went with these guys because they were an authorized Pioneer dealer and had a good rating on CNET.com.
Guess where my next two emails are going...along with the California BBB."

"As noted in other reviews, TV Authority has great prices and poor customer service. If you are like me and are accustomed to quick shipment and responsive customer service in your other online transactions -- watch out.
I grew concerned about my order status after it stayed in pending state for over a week. When I tried to contact customer support, I could not reach them by e-mail or by phone, even after waiting on hold for more than an hour on three consecutive business days.
This, combined with other reviews about month-long shipping delays, was very alarming -- due to the amount of money I had already spent. (I was charged on the first day.)
After sending one final e-mail threatening to reverse my credit card charges and post a negative review, I received very prompt service. I was able to cancel my order and received a follow-up call reassuring me that they are still taking their business seriously but are having 'support problems'.
Hopefully they can work through these problems and return to their earlier days of positive reviews. In the mean time, I would not recommend TV Authority for online sales if you need quick shipment or responsive support."

"Normally I would not take time to write a review on a store unless something went terribly wrong. I am making an exception in this case to highlight what I would consider stellar service from C.C. at TV Authority--from consultation on what product to purchase all the way to assisting me with warranty questions well after the purchase was concluded.
I purchased a JVC HD-70G886 D-ILA TV from TV Authority nearly the day it was released to the market for sale. In addition to being one of the first retailers to have this particular TV available for sale/delivery, they also had it for the most competitive price I could find (and I am very thorough)! The unit was shipped and delivered as promised. A few days later I received a hand-written (gasp!) thank you note from TV Authority--a nice touch.
Usually, that is where the experience would end. In this case, I ended-up burning out the lamp on the TV after 4 months, 4 weeks after the factory warranty on the lamp bulb expired. I contacted my sales representative C.C. and--despite the fact that this was not her fault or issue--worked closely with me to find a local authorized repair facility, ultimately resulting in getting the bulb replaced (a $250+ value) for free!
Just a few weeks ago--more than a year after the sale--I called C.C. at TV Authority again. I needed some repair work on the TV and had failed to properly register with the extended warranty service provider per procedure. She took time out of her schedule to help dig up my extended warranty information despite the fact it was well outside her responsibility as a sales consultant and the root cause was clearly my mistake. Another example of going above and beyond to exceed the customer's expectations.
I currently work in an organization that aggressively fosters World Class customer service so when I see it in other vendors it's easily recognized. Having a technical background, I usually end-up being the "Go-To" guy when people need help purchasing any type of electronics related product. Based on my exceptional experience, TV Authority gets all my Audio/Video referrals. Highly Recommended."
"Disappointed in the service from TV Authority. They delayed the shipment of my DLP three weeks and in each delay, they never notified me. Worse, I tried to contact customer service yet I was placed on hold for up to an hour -- and this was during normal business hours. I had to dispute the payment from my credit card and it was only then that they finally released the TV from their warehouse --- keep in mind they said all along that it was in stock. I finally got the TV a month later."

"Stay away from theses guys. This outfit is totally unprofessional and nonresponsive except when it comes to charging your credit card. I expected the TV to come within several weeks. After waiting over one month, I called them to ask when my TV would be delivered. They said that they would call me the next day to let me know when it would be shipped and gave me the usual line about giving me a FedEx tracking #, blah blah blah. Anyway, of course they never called back and when I called five days later they said that they had no information to give me. Of course, I cancelled my order but you can be sure that the credit on my credit card won't show up as fast as the charge did. This guys need to improve their act."
