"Customer service sounds friendly and you think everything is great. But then they mess up your order anyway."

"Ordered address book refills but the refills were not the one's pictured so returned but received no reply after several phone calls. Contacted the credit department to get the charge reversed which was done after 30 days and then received a check from Vermont minus the re-stock or shipping charge called the company and told them I would hold the check and why would they charge for a mistake on their part and they could not answer, do yourself a favor and order from a different company. This company's " Folksy " appearance is nothing but a ruse to get you to buy. "
"Beware the "oilcloth" tablecloths. It turns out to be basic fabric, with a thin plastic laminate on top. On the yard I ordered, the plastic wasn't even completely attached. Vastly overpriced. read the fine print!"
"I bought something and was not happy with it, but since I had opened the packages and started using, I just chalked it up to experience. Then I happened across a complaining review, and I took the opportunity to add my two cents. The company emailed a reply which I didn’t pay attention to, and then today a check arrived to reimburse me! Nicely done. Thank you. "
"The reviews don't lie. An item ordered in November did not arrive until mid-JANUARY! Was consistently misinformed via snail mail that item had shipped. If you actually WANT or NEED an item order elsewhere as they are ridiculously over priced. Very polite people but I get the feeling these employees sit around drinking hot apple cider and eggnog whilst complaining how "impatient" the rest of us are. They are in Vermont time."
"I ordered a table Christmas tree as a gift on 12/6. I never heard from the person I sent the gift to or confirmation that it was shipped or delivered. I wnt back through my email and found I was charged but the product was never sent. If I would not have followed up they would have taken my money, never sent the gift and I would have not been the wiser. That is as bad as it gets. "
"Over the past several years, I have ordered nightgowns, pajamas, jams, tablecloths, kitchen tools, cookies, cakes, etc. I have never had any problem with their customer service, product quality or delivery. They have a great selection of quality products, some of which I haven't been able to find anywhere else. Every Christmas I order at least one of their triple liquor Christmas fruitcakes (this year I ordered 3 of the chocolate triple liquor Christmas fruitcake) which are absolutely delicious. My husband loves them. On a few occasions, I returned an item and it was properly processed for refund without any problem. I don't honestly understand the complaints about this company from a number of reviews on this site. I believe this company has been in business since 1946, so they must be keeping a lot of customers happy. "
"I was looking for a quality oilcloth tablecloth and stumbled onto "The Vermont Country Store."
I wanted one like my mother-in-law always had on her dining room table.
I ordered one and was not disappointed. It is just as I imagined and I couldn't be any happier with the product."
"I received the most expensive set of pajamas at Christmas and the poorest quality. The sizing was ridiculous. X-large was actually more a 4-X. Just tried washing & drying and they now look like something purchased at Wal-Mart and passed on to Goodwill. I cannot believe the poor fabric and make of those. Extremely disappointed!"
"I ordered a nightgown that was supposed to be in stock at the time I ordered it. I receive a shipping confirmation that showed it wasn't one of the items that was being shipped. I engaged in a chat with Jean C who said I would receive it on 1/10/17. Considering this is a Christmas gift and I paid for overnight shipping, I find this totally unacceptable. Why would it show as being in stock? I will never do business with The Vermont Country Store again and would highly recommend any one else do it either."
"Ordered a top to be shipped to California, it left their facility made it to Arizona(geography) left Arizona for Missouri, to Pennsylvania, back to Missouri, back to Pennsylvania, to New Mexico for delivery to Southern California by the end of the day! I know you are asking did it arrive in California that afternoon? NO!! 1st Call Customer Service they pushed it off don't worry it will be there this afternoon! Really? By Pony Express? 4th grade geography NM is not in CA! It arrived in California but updated pending delivery so now I don't know when it's supposed to arrive!!Called again and the next CSR decided that she should give me a lesson in how the Post office works! Here's an idea how about taking some responsibility and take time out to find out where the package is, and stop finding excuses for your companies inept shipping methods! I will never buy things from this company again.. They need to get some customer Service training! Look your products are good! But your shipping **** get it together! Shipping charges can be a whopping 25.00 for overnight, but they still can't get you the package! Horrible Customer Service."
"Ordered 2 auto seat cushions. Poor quality. Called for return. Was told to use enclosed return label.
3 weeks later received $24.95 refund on $39.85 order.
Was told $6.95 "processing" and rest shipping because I used the enclosed label.
I can understand paying shipping on a return. Have never had a that large a difference on many internet purchases from other companies.
Vermont will not have to be bothered by me again.

"Unbelievably bad customer service. I know this store is "retro" but their operations are also stuck in 1975. I placed an order online and received no email notification that the order had been received. I called customer service and they told told me that while they did have a record of my order, the system messed up and I was not sent an email receipt. When I asked if they could resend me the receipt, they told me their system was not set up to do so (seriously?), but I would receive a printed receipt with my order in case I needed to return anything. Well, I did need to return something (the product was terrible quality). Sent it back to them with the printed receipt. Waited a few weeks. Nothing. Emailed them. Received an automated response saying they had not received it yet. I know it was an automated response because the auto-responder filled in the name of the customer service rep in addressing me: "Dear Gloria B, We haven't received your return. Sincerely, Gloria B." Several more weeks went by and still nothing. I finally gave up. That return is sitting in a warehouse somewhere while "Gloria B" sits in a refrigerated room "responding" to customers.. This company is a joke."
