"Buyer beware -- if anyone insists on buying from this company, call first and have them confirm the product you want is in stock. Their website is not updated to reflect what is/isn't in stock.
Their method of confirmation is sorely lacking as well. Twelve days and two (order processed & order completed) e-mails after my order was placed, still no items delivered. I called and was informed that the items ordered are not in stock, despite the order completed confirmation, and my account was refunded.
On a better note, the woman I spoke with was very helpful and e-mailed the refund confirmation when asked. "
"I ordered a Motorola H710 headset from them. The product page says it would be in a "BRAND NEW RETAIL PACKAGE". The product I received was in a plastic bag, sealed with scotch tape. It had smudges all over it, so clearly it was neither new, nor in a retail package. Also, the manual was well worn. Having owned a brand new one of these in the past, I know what they should look like. I called, and got the excuse that "we test all the headsets, so they may be slightly smudged". I'm not buying it. They couldn't explain the lack of retail packaging. They agreed to replace it, and I've already sent it back, but I'm a bit concerned after reading reviews here that I'll probably end up with another used product. Also, I'm not very happy that I just spent another $4 on shipping it back, when the item only cost about $26 including shipping anyway. I'm thinking I should have bought it elsewhere, as shipping it back has made it exceed the price of many other stores. We'll see what happens, and I'll update this post accordingly!
UPDATE - I received another H710, in a T-Mobile box, however, it was clearly used. It smelled and felt like either cologne or some sort of hair product. After cleaning it and testing it, I found the microphone didn't work at all. I asked for a refund, but the owner said he would sent an H790 as an upgrade, at no additional cost (which I agreed to). A couple of days later, I received ANOTHER H710 - it was in a T-Mobile box also but it appeared new. I tested it, and the microphone worked somewhat, but was so distorted it was basically unusable. Again, I asked for a refund, but the owner said again, he would send a H790. I agreed to that, and sent both H710s back to him.
I received the H790, and while not in a retail box, appeared new and so far has been working very well. It didn't have a manual, but luckily was easy enough to figure out how to use without one. It has been an excellent headset so far.
So, in the end, I'm glad this was resolved, and I'm happy with the H790. I appreciate the upgrade and the quick replies from the company, but I'm still a bit disappointed with the length of time the entire process took (basically, the better part of a month) and all of the hurdles to get to a satisfactory end result. I would probably buy from this company again if I was not so concerned about it being new or in retail packaging, and was looking for the absolute lowest price."
"I ordered an LG DARE from Thrifty Computer because they had an unbeatable price and it seemed like a trust worthy place to shop. It was difficult to get a hold of them over the phone, especially when I needed to talk to them most but they responded quickly to my emails. Kayla was so helpful and patient with me. I would definitely buy from Thrifty Computer again in the future. "
"The two phones arrived as stated promptly but both had missing usb cable. BTW, No package tracking provided. Took them a month and a half to resolve the issue and ship to me after numerous emails but the good thing is they have always responded to my emails. I am glad all ended with a happy ending."
"--update 10/5/09 The customer service team remedied this.
This company stated on their website that they were selling brand new LG EnV phones. Another site had these for the same price with free shipping but they stated that they were refurbs. The phone took 11 days to arrive and it was a refurb.
I am keeping the phone but would warn people that their guarantee of "This phone like many of the others we sell is Brand New in an OEM Box" is false, and you also may have to wait a while to get your items."
"I would like to take a moment to say that I am very please with my overall experience with ThriftyComputer. Their customer service department is exemplary. It goes a long way in attracting, maintaining, and keeping a customer in my book. Thank you so kindly! Tammy in GA"
"I was glad to find that Thrifty Computer seemed to have the exact phone I'd been looking for (the Verizon LG VX8350) because apparently LG had discontinued making the model. Several web vendors had web pages featuring the phone with "Sold Out" signs. As it turned out, Thrifty Computer didn't have the phone either, they just didn't know it, although that didn't stop them from billing my credit card immediately after I placed the order. There followed a couple of weeks of e-mail back and forth between me and Thrifty Computer, with them assuring me the phone was on its way. Then I got a cryptic notice about a credit card charge reversal (no mention of the phone.) I called Thrifty Computer and got a person (for the first time) who explained that, in fact, they did not have any of the phones, which fact she blamed on a supplier, and they were reversing the credit card charge because it would have been "unfair" of them to keep my money any longer. Indeed. Perhaps it was the supplier's fault, but to my mind there are too many things wrong about this episode (such as submitting the charge before shipping--most vendors wait until after a product has shipped to debit your credit card) to induce me to try my luck with this company again. Incidentally, I subsequently found the phone on E-Bay and it was just delivered as promised.
ADDENDUM: Shortly after this review was published, I received an e-mail from someone named Elchonon, who identified himself as the owner of the company. He apologized for the inconvenience and offered to send the phone in another color free of charge. I accepted. Sure enough, an apparently new, LG VX8350 arrived free of charge a few weeks later, though without the manual. Perhaps this attests that the company is trying to improve its service. It certainly attests to the clout of Reseller Ratings."
"This company showed my product in stock, shipping would be 2 to 3 business days, and I sent them an e-mail, now I have left them a phone message. I have had no contact from this company other then on my invoice the words “Not Ready For Shipping” My order was place on 9/12/2009 and today is 9/21/2009.
I want my ordered cancel, but cannot find a way to reach anyone.
I would think twice before ordered from this company.
Update - Thecompany sent me an email to see what they could do to help me. After a few email exchanges, they sent me a phone free. This was very nice of them. Everything is now working.

"I am a technology professional and have been in the industry for over 9 years. Purchasing the product was relatively simple however; Thrifty Computer.com has some very serious problems with communication.
I purchased the item from their website on September 4, 2009(Friday)however; the order was not processed until Tuesday the following week so I thought. I called in and they explained that because of Labor Day weekend, they were closed. I can accept that, what I cannot accept is that the following week on Monday 13, 2009 I had to call them to find out where my product was.
It does not end here, I was then told that there was a problem from either their vendor or "sister company" and that I would not receive the item until Wednesday, September 16, 2009. I accepted the fact that I had no control over the situation and they stated they would refund my shipping costs.
Well, guess what? It is now Thursday, September 17, 2009 and I had to call into them again. I explained to them my complete displeasure with the entire process in dealing with Thrifty Computer.com. Again they stated they would refund my shipping costs. This is not the answer folks, I would have been a lot less aggravated had they communicated the issues in an effective manner. I was told that my product should be delivered by Friday, September 18, 2009.
This is my first experience with them, I will probably never utilize them again. In all fairness, others may have had a good experience however; I have not. I am a business owner myself and I am disheartened with how they handled this transaction. I even asked who the owner was and the individual stated she did not want to give me the information. I have two very small pieces of advice for this company:
1. Under promise and over deliver.
2. Always communicate with your customer, communication, communication, communication is key.
Thanks to them, I am going to try even harder to ensure that my customers are never treated this way and I will ensure that communication is never an issue.

Update: I still do not have my phone, The phone was not shipped out until September 17, 2009, and now it is September 24, 2009. I was told after calling multiple times, emailing and other forms of communication that now it was the US Post Office who had messed up the order. Well, I just don't buy it. There seems to be no accountability with this company who states they have been in business for 7 years while not acting like it.
I am supposed to wait until they recieve the phone and then wait again for them to ship it out, which I told them I wanted it next day air through the UPS. We will see what happens.
Regards,
Still waiting.......

"I ordered a Samsung phone on the 26th of August, it is now the 13th of September. The two to three day shipping, is a lie. I still haven't received my phone. I called six days after I ordered it, the lady I talked to told me it had already been shipped, and it should have been there the next day. I couldn't call until the next tuesday because of the holiday weekend. I then talked to a lady named Kayla, she was very nice. However she told me my order hadn't been shipped and asked if I could wait until thursday (the 10th of September) for it to be delivered, didn't happen. I called her she told me the other company they work with was having problems shipping (basically they were slacking off, not having problems) their items and it would go out the 11th. I asked her if she would give me a tracking number, and she said she'd email it within the hour of the phone call. She did not, and would not answer my calls the rest of the day. Now it is the 13th and I am waiting to hear what they have to say tomorrow. I want my phone, I've been waiting over two weeks and it's ridiculous. Least they took the 8 dollar shipping fee off...or so they said. I will update my review upon further inspection. I hope they read this and decide to take some affirmative action. Otherwise they will lose customers, and good ratings."
"The unit was supposed to be new. From thrifty computer's product page: "This phone is BRAND NEW! Its retail packaged, included is the phone, battery & charger."
It is clearly a refurbished phone. The back battery cover does not match the phone, the battery itself is a no-name replacement, not an original Motorola. The charger has European prongs, not US, with a European to US adapter thrown in. The manual is for a generic Motorola phone, not a RAZR V3. The back battery plate shows scuff marks and the Cingular logo (a company that hasn't existed for years, now).
All items were unsecured and loose in the box. Items had been placed in plastic bags that had clearly been opened, crumpled and then reused.
The packaging is clearly not the original retail packaging.
This retailer has been dishonest and deceitful in this transaction. The item is not new, it is an obvious refurb."
"I am very pleased with my purchase of the Motorola L6i phone from Thrifty Computer. The delivery was fast and as described. The phone is much better than the Motorola flip phone that it replaced."
"Great product at a great price - with e-mail confirmation and prompt delivery. No experience with customer service - but I didn't need any, so I guess that's a good thing. 5-stars in my book."
"Ordered a Motorola H790. Excellent service.
I did not get a manual or extra ear pieces.
Thrifty corrected the situation quickly. Very satisfied with thrifty"
