"The reviews are correct - this company is a SCAM!
They show they have an item in stock @ a low price, then you have to call them, then they send an email saying the item is backordered, but their website STILL says it is in stock. SCAM! TERRIBLE COMPANY!! SHOP ELSEWHERE!
"
"They are simply con artists.
I'm still having big hassel with my order.
Don't get fooled. You even won't be able to talk to them."
"This is the worst company I have ever seen.. Please for god's sake dont order anything from this company."
"Ordered a Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS
I was cautious about ordering from this company after reading some of the very negative reviews, but decided to take a chance. Indeed they e-mailed me that I needed to call to confirm the order which I had read as a way to get folks to buy more stuff. I figured this would be where things might go bad, but alas, the fellow on the phone simply tried to sell me a warranty and pointed out that the device I was buying had been discontinued by the manufacturer (which I knew). After I declined the warranty and indicated knowledge of the discontinued status he processed the order.
Although it took a day or two longer to arrive than it might have from another dealer, the price was substantially lower and offset the wait.
I'm not disputing any review written to-date, but my experience was as good as I've had from any web-based electronics dealer."
"I ordered a Sigma 150 macro lens at a price I thought was too good to be true. It wasn't. The web order indicated no shipping and no other charges. On Monday I get an e-mail saying I need to call to confirm order - after many tries and much waiting I am told there is a $53 charge for insurance - what a rip off. (B&H Photo will ship this item for ~ $10!) Google should black list this store until the web ordering is corrected to show complete pricing."
"This place had the cheapest digital camera on the internet, by $10. So I ordered it. Then I get this email saying that they need to verify my info. What Crap! They wanted to upsell me on a battery. Then the guy tells me the total that will be charged to my card...it $15 more than I agreed to online. He spews something about shipping insurance. Classic bait and switch. Shame on them. I canceled my order. What a waste of time. Do not use this place for anything, they are a scam."
"Avoid this place! I should have done in depth reading of other reviews, I only looked at the 3.5 rating and didn't realize that that covers years (older 2003 were much better) and not so much the recent. It was as many stated "bait a switch" style, which I was prepared for. You do your online order, then emails requiring phone call to confirm, got the call and pitch for expensive memory, replace the poor quality battery, charger, etc. to which I said no thanks. They took that nice enough but ended with "you understand you'll be getting a gray model" and understand that it won't be programmed in English - everything in Japanese instead for that price. Upgrade to a English model was $469 versus the original $358, but then said to save a sale they'd reduce the price to $419. I finally said to cancel the order, they said okay and hung up. I immediately sent emails to their customer service requesting cancellation and confirmation. They did reply with the confirmation (best part of the transaction is being able to GET OUT of it). Looks like no charges were made to my credit card and I'm clear. I then headed over to Amazon and got the camera for $409, 10 bucks cheaper than their final offering - free shipping, no tax... so much for trying to save $50."
"I've read many reviews on these kind of low-cost NYC based camera stores...and am fascinated to try it out myself...I love listening to people lying straight to my face, it just makes me wonder what people are willing to do to make that extra buck...oh well, I guess in this economic predicament, the more fortunate ones could spare the less fortunate with some patience...
I ordered the camera on 11.24, received a call, confirmation my order...I was totally ready for the guy to start up-selling, but just to find out that he actually didn't, and told me the item will be shipped out! I then asked him how long does the "free shipping" takes, he said, 10 business days...so I said I want to upgrade to 2 day UPS, he then said sure, that'll be $39.99. I was like, wait, I saw on your website that it'll only be $14.99, and he replied, oh, b/c of the holiday season, they've changed the rate (I was like wtfreaker, yeah right...so I said, no, just cancel it). He canceled the order, and then immediately, I went onto the website and re-order, with 3 day shipping.
Then today, I called in to confirm my order...and gosh, I guess I ran out of luck and had this hard-selling sales person...so the same story goes...he asked me if I have any questions, I said no...he said if I am aware that the battery on these camera will last only 20 minutes, and most people bought two extra batteries that I could get 50% off if I were to purchase it along with my order. I kindly declined...and he said okay...I see that you canceled and reordered? Then I explained to him how I wanted to pay extra to get it faster...there, the moment I said that, I knew I blew it, b/c now he thinks I am a sucker (and I was!)...
He then went on to perpetuate the conversation by saying...oh...your total with shipping and insurance (insurance???) will be $XXX.XX. I immediately told him I see no where on the website where it states I need to add insurance...of course, it became I said, he said (he stated that they always change insurance, from 2 to 12%, and he's only charging me 9%). I told him to cancel the order, and then he said, you know what...I'll just charge you 5%. BTW, during the conversation, he would put me on hold from time to time (which was alright, I believe he was trying to annoy me, but I needed those extra moments to think anyway). After he came back, I told him, look, I am a web savvy buyer, and have seen lots of mixed review, and the little games you guys play with battery and shipping, so...just cut it out and sell me the stuff...to my surprise, he didn't hang up on me, and told me that I couldn't find the camera at a cheaper price anywhere in the world, and if I can't spend that extra 10 bucks, then maybe I can't afford the camera.
I am a guy with great patience, so...I didn't care what he said, and told him, what about return policy, will you guys charge me with other things here and there? He said no...just 21 days, full refund. I knew it was a lie, but you know what, that's the good thing about being a consumer in the US, "consumer rights" actually exists...so, I figure, if anything, I'll just call up my cc company and tell them that TopChoiceDigital is a scam and get my full refund. So I ordered the camera...(I just double checked on their website, and yes, they will charge you 5% for restocking fee, so...).
Well, that was my experience, and I just hope that although I don't like their strategy...as long as they send me what they say they will send, I am okay with it...good luck everyone!"
"I saw that this company had the lowest prices and a 3.5/5 rating from google shopping, so I ordered a Nikon D40 for my boyfriend for christmas, thinking that 3.5/5 isn't too bad! After I placed the order I found this website and was horrified at all the bad reviews-- I was sure that I was scammed and I was about to call to cancel the order when my sister told me to wait it out and see what happens... I got the email telling me to call them to expedite service, and so I called. The man on the phone seemed a little sketch and it ended up sending me to a voice mail with no name. I decided not to leave a voicemail, so I just hung up. 5 seconds later I received a phone call from them where they tried to upsell me a new battery for 50% off, I let him go on his 2 minute rant about how the battery that the camera comes with only lasts 15minutes, then I politely said that it was a gift and if the person who was receiving the camera wanted a better battery, then they can buy it for themself (knowing that if the battery really only lasts 15 minutes then I would contact the manufacturer about it). He verified the order and told me that it would arrive within 5-7 business days. I ordered it yesterday morning, received the order confirmation right away, received the confirmation that the order was processed later last night, received an email that the order was shipped this morning, and I received the camera today!!! Only 24 hours after I placed the order (it shipped from NY to MA)! Sure, I did have to listen to the guy babble about upselling the battery, but over all I had a great transaction with Top Choice Digital, and for the money that I saved, I will definitely buy from them again!! "
"BE SUSPICIOUS of positive reviews of this company. I ordered the same product from a different vendor 86th Street Camera or similar and got the same boiler room scam artists. I didn't receive a confirmation on my online order both times from each merchant which is the same company. New York accents (Brooklyn) and rude to the point that you know you are not a valued customer. Not even close.
Expect to find out that you are backordered. Expect all manner of lies and condescending remarks. Expect to not speak to a manager. Expect to get a phony name when you ask for one. Expect loud boiler room noises. Expect offers of a "better deal" or "one that is in stock." Expect to hear "we just got 15 units and they are promised to other customers." As others have adamantly told you in reviews, the practices of bait and switch with this company are borderline fraud and should be illegal by any reasonable standard. Google should exclude them from price shopping result sets due to fraud. If you order from them then prepare to have your day ruined on the phone. I ended up canceling my order and going to Amazon. There could not possibly be a bigger contrast between companies. I seriously hope the people that run this company die of cancer. "
"Do NOT deal with this company.
I ordered two lenses with the product advertised as having free shipping. The day after ordering, I received an email to call the company to finalize the order. I called and talked to a rep who said there was an additional thirty seven dollar charge for insurance and handling. Furthermore, they then try to persuade you to buy accessories, and when you decline, they will belittle you until you to feel like an idiot because you. The rep was ignorant, rude, and should be fired. As to the fee, while on the phone, I was checking their web site to find these charges, which I could never locate nor could be shown. I was told I had two choices, to pay or cancel the order. The rep indicated he would ship it but I would have to pay the additional charge for shipping and insurance. I told him this was fraud since the charges are not posted and they are liars since after two days of calls they could not show me where these charges are posted even though I was continually told to review the website.
This company is not worth the aggrivation. Avoid them.

"I called to order a Sony Camcorder. I did not want to order it on line because the price was too low and I did not think it would pan out. When I called I was asked if I wanted to buy an extra Battery, charger, filter or case. I said no. The salesman ask that I buy it off the web. I placed the order on the Web, then I got a call and email to call them, I got the same list of questions and said no to all the extras. I was then told that the shipping was free but the handling was $75. I did not order the camcorder."
"Do NOT deal with these people. It's nothing but a bait and switch scam. I ordered a Nikon D60. The product was advertised as having free shipping. The day after ordering, I received a call from a rep who said there was an additional thirty some dollar charge for insurance and handling. In addition, he told me the battery that comes from Nikon was inadequate and I needed to upgrade it. While I was checking their web site to make sure what they had advertised, the rep thought I had him on hold and he was joking with his cohorts that he was going to charge me 12% for his time (shows what kind of low lives these people are). I told him I had thoroughly researched what I wanted and I expected to get what I ordered at the price advertised. He indicated he would ship it but I would have to pay the additional charge for shipping and insurance. I told him I wasn't interested in dealing with disreputable people and asked that the order be cancelled. To their credit, I did get an email indicating the order was cancelled, however, I am still monitoring my credit card to make sure they don't charge it. "
"BEWARE!! BAIT AND SWITCH SALES PITCH!! It is not worth the hassle. You order one thing and they require you to call them or they will not ship your order. When you do call them, they will try to persuade you to buy much more than you originally anticipated on something they cannot give you an correct description on so they can sell you a cheaper brand item. If you don't buy more, they will belittle you until you to feel like an idiot because you did not purchase the add-on package deal for $150 more which is worth much much less. The salesman was ignorant, rude, and should be fired. It seems that it is a norm for most salesman of this company to act this way to make an extra buck. Don't believe a word this company says."
"SCAMMERS. Advertised prices are not available. They will try to talk you into buying accessories, when you decline they will either not have your item in stock or say it will be shipped in 6-8 weeks and it will be Gray Market. You'll eventually get an email saying it's not available and your order has been cancelled. STAY AWAY, SHOP ELSEWHERE"
