"I changed this rating from 2-stars to 4-stars after additional communication from TriState Camera. They explained that when I returned the defective lens, they initiated a repair. When they saw that the repair would take too long, they sent me a brand new lens, to make sure that I would be satisfied. They assured me that they stand behind their products. I appreciate their making it right, and I would have understood if they had kept me informed in real-time. I am leaving my original text below for reference, but understand that I do now have a beautiful new lens, at a good price, and their assurance that they stand behind their products.
Here's what had happened before it was explained to me:
"I received a telephoto lens that did not work - no power for auto-focus, image-stabilization, etc. I called immediately and they sent instructions for returning it. When I found that they expected me to pay the return shipping, I called again and they provided a prepaid shipping label. I got no confirmation when they received the return, nor when they sent a replacement. I later learned that 12 days passed after they received the defective lens before they shipped a replacement. Shipping was via ground from East Coast to West coast, so I got a working lens a month and a half after ordering it. The replacement lens was in excellent condition, but still I wondered if it was used or repaired instead of new.
I was also concerned because the lens came with a warranty card that states is valid only if returned within 30 days of purchase, it had taken 38 days to get a working lens. ""

"I ordered a Nikon D5300 kit with a Nikon 70-300 AF lens. The 70-300 would not auto focus. TriState's customer service advised that this lens only works on manual with this camera. I explained that due to my vision problems I must have an auto focus lens. He asked me to return the original lens and he would send a new Model Nikon lens that would auto focus with the D5300. Good job! "
"After charging battery for first time, the number of pictures/usage was very limited, when the camera indicated low battery. I only took five pictures! I have recharged the battery and will try again!

website performance a bit slow
missing images of many products
refused to ship to address that is different then the paying address.
some technical website failure prevented amazon pay from working.
I ended up buying my lens elsewhere since I it was not possible to do split payment with my gift debit cards.
They answered my phone call and provided answers to all my questions!
no online help (but can call during work hours)
I got free UPS ground shipping.

"Ordered a camera on Tuesday, received a call from a rep the day after offering a warranty. Rep said he would be sending the camera out that day. Didn’t get any sort of tracking notification so I called back on Monday to make sure everything was okay, shipping department said it wasn’t shipped yet but give 24-48 hours. Wednesday rolled around and I still hadn’t heard anything so I called customer service and got Carl, who rectified everything. Had the camera in hand on Thursday. Props to that guy, you should give him a raise!"
