"I have received high quality products both times. My first order, 5lbs purple potatoes, have all grown into beautiful potato plants. I can't wait to plant my second order! "
"Order was delayed, however I was kept up to date about progress. On arrival the plants were well packaged healthy and strong, fortuitously the weather has been cool so the beds had just reached the right temp the day they arrived!"
"I ordered sweet potato slips at the turn of the year. They were scheduled for delivery in June. Then in May I got a notice that there was a backup and orders may be delayed. I went to the farm where I buy whole raw milk yogurt today and they had some sweet potato seedlings for sale. I was tempted. But I decided to wait. When I got home the package was in my mailbox. And they are MUCH better looking than the ones at the farm. "
"Excellent service for someone ordering two packages of seeds. One order was out, they emailed, and are going to hold it until one comes in. You don't get better service than that."
"It took a long time to ship. Not sure if these are shipped from China or what. My order wasnt complete either. They notified me by email. When I received the package another item was missing. They wrote "refunded" on the packing slip but they didnt refund the money. I sent them an email, hopefully they refund the money for the missing item. "
"Thank you so very much for the order. Easy to work with, communication excellent."
"I too am one of the customers who experienced delays, which is SO very understandable these days, but I was very disappointed to find out the the specific variety of cucumber seeds I ordered was out of stock, and I had been issued a refund. I emailed Urban Farmer to tell them how disappointed I was, and let them know had they only told me that I would have found them somewhere else. By the time it happened, the seeds appeared to be completely sold out at other websites.
Laura from Urban Farmer emailed me back right away, apologized deeply, and explained that their distributor did not communicate the out of stock information to to them, but if I was interested in ordering a different variety, that she would personally put the order in the envelope and ship them out the next morning. And that is exactly what happened, except she also included two packs of my original order cucumber seeds along with the new order, and they were delivered in about two days!! At no charge to me whatsoever!
This is the very definition of great customer service, exceeding all expectations. I too will be a lifetime customer and recommend Urban Farmer to everyone. High quality products at a great price and amazing customer service. Thank you!!

"I ordered a *bunch* of seeds since my local home & garden center seemed to be either running late or weren't getting anything in for planting. That was April 20th in a 5b (pushing 6a) USDA Hardiness Zone (and we did have a freak freeze on May 9th.)
I got the last bits of my order on May 26th. I know there's a Pandemic on, which is why it's 3 stars instead of one. They tried, and I did eventually get the seeds.
It could be a lot worse; I ordered from Jung on April 8th, and have yet to receive the beans, pumpkin, and summer squash medley."
"At the height of pandemic lock down ordered my summer cover crops. The only suggestion I have is to communicate better, when I ordered web site said 15 days then 25 days but at 32 days seed arrived. I will order again thank you"
"I completely understand them being behind on shipping given the COVID-19 situation. Anytime I followed up I always got a response the same day. Only thing I was disappointed in is that the pots that I was sent were a different color than what was pictured online. Not a huge deal just disappointed."
"I went online to look for wildflower seeds to purchase to plant along the road beside our new pasture. I don’t even know how I came upon Urban Farmer, but as I looked at what they offered I found exactly what I wanted. In fact I found more than what I wanted!! I couldn’t decide on just one or two varieties and ended up ordering 7 pounds of 7 different varieties! I could already envision how beautiful they were going to be. I placed my order April 4, 2020 and basically forgot about it. I think it was a week or so when I received an email that a shipping label was created for my seeds. At that point I started watching the mail for them figuring it would be a week for me to get them. I’m guessing about 2 weeks went by so I checked the tracking number and I think it said it hadn’t shipped yet. I sent an email inquiring about the label and wondered if there was a problem. I wasn’t nasty or rude about it, just concerned. In less than a couple hours I received a long email going to great lengths to explain how they were working 18 hour days trying to get orders filled while having to obey their state orders regarding Covid-19. The email offered me options for a refund if I wasn’t able to wait for my seeds. The email thanked me for my order, my patience and my understanding during this global pandemic that has completely changed the way our world operates.
I was completely speechless after reading it and couldn’t type a reply fast enough. First I thanked them for taking the time to write such a detailed, personal reply to my inquiry. Second, I thanked them for being able to continue working with a limited staff to fulfill thousands of orders that they were never expecting to get, if not for all the people who were now wanting to “homestead”. And finally, I made it very clear I had no intention of canceling my order and because of their email to me, I would now be a long-standing customer.
I received my seeds May 14, 2020, very neatly packaged and each variety clearly labeled. Now I just have to wait a few days for the ground to dry out a little so I can get busy planting.
I have read some reviews that are very negative about how long it took for them to get a package of seeds. I rarely write reviews for anything, but I had to this time. My thought is, if your life has been so disrupted because you didn’t get seeds in the time frame you wanted, you should be ashamed. There is not one person on this entire planet who has not been affected by Covid-19. Fortunately for the mass majority of us, we’ve only been inconvenienced by shipping delays as we sit at home, safe, healthy, shopping online. Too many lives have been lost, too many families grieving and sadly still, too many people still being selfish and thoughtless of others. So, if you want instant delivery, good luck getting it anywhere. If you want to see our country pull through these times, support our American businesses like “Urban Farmer”."
"Good product, slow to ship"
"It's been over six weeks since I place this order for one small packet of seeds and STILL HAVE NOT received the seeds. They even said it was shipped out over a week and half ago - maybe packaged but not shipped, it very rarely takes the post office a week and a half to ship a packet of seeds. A company as quick as this should go out of business because it is NOT providing as service acceptable to anyone. I've sent three e-mails and all they respond with is that they are behind on orders. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!"
"After looking at different stores and not finding the variety of beans my dad was wanting to plant, I went online to Urban Farms website and found the beans. The web site made it easy to find the variety of beans my dad wanted and equally easy to order. It took a little longer than normal to ship but they did keep me informed by emails. "
"I researched garden seed prices online and thought Urban Farmer would be OK to do business with despite some rather scathing criticisms of poor customer service, no contact, etc. Still, I figured I'd take a chance. Boy, were those criticisms spot on--maybe even conservative! I don't know if this is a one-man outfit, operating out of an apartment or what, but I literally JUST RECEIVED my (small)
order today after ordering and paying online FIVE WEEKS AGO!! To make matters worse, I live in an adjoining state and literally could have WALKED to UF's alleged address (seriously, I still am not convinced they really have a "place"), got my order, walked home and still had time to take a 2 week vacation in between. What a joke! The customer service responses I got stated, to some effect: "we did process your order and issued a shipping label, but can't really tell you where your order is in the grand scheme" (that was 4 weeks ago), or "it looks like the Post Office has it" (that was 3 weeks ago--again, I live about 400 miles away). I hate to be critical of any small business like this, but honestly folks: Avoid this one if you want to avoid frustration."
