"I received the shipment today, Jan. 5. The tire chains were originally estimated to arrive between Dec. 30 and Jan. 5. The shipment arrived within the estimated delivery time, but barely. The packing list says the order was placed on Dec. 30, when in fact, it was placed 7 days earlier on Dec. 23 -- their record keeping seems to be in disarray.

Although I received what they said they would ship (SCC Super Z-6 SC 131 tire cables), it appears that they will NOT fit the tires on my car as promised. Reading the list of 20 different tire sizes on the end of the carrying case of the product it does not show 205/55 R16 -- my tire size and the same size that their web site said this product would fit. What do I do now? There's a chance they might fit, even though my size tire is not listed on the product's carrying case. But why would I want to waste my time and effort to see if they fit when it seems likely they won't.

I'm going to ask Vulcan to take back the tire cables, credit me for their price and ground shipping and also supply me with a free way for me to return the tire cables to them. I'll update this review when I obtain Vulcan's response.

1-6-08 Update -- emailed Vulcan and asked to return the tire cables that I didn't believe would fit. I received an email back within an hour stating that the tire cables actually fit about 50 tire sizes and not just the 20 shown on the package. I was directed to the manufacturer's web site to confirm that the cables I received would fit my tires. The manufacturer's web site did confirm they would fit. Of course, now I should try them to just make sure."

I emailed customer service to enquire about the order and was told that it would ship as promised. Today I recieved an email advising the item was on back order. Both the website and customer service misled me. I canceled the order and will not buy from this company again."

It would have been helpful to know how the credit card verification is done when shipping to an address different from the credit card billing address, i.e., who would be using the requested phone numbers to contact whom, and when. Without knowing what the potential delays could be, I decided to have the chains shipped to my home address even if it meant having to instruct UPS to leave the package outside. Not the best option, but luckily the chains arrived safely and appear to work very well.

There must also be a glitch in the PayPal processing, I tried that to see if it would then let me ship to my work address without the extra security steps, but only got a message that there was not enough funds in my PayPal account. That is incorrect, I double-checked PayPal to be sure and there were more than sufficient funds to cover the purchase.

Other than those two small issues, I am very satisfied with the way my order was processed.

"As of today January 1, 2009 my order has not yet been shipped. The order process was easy to use and took little time to complete. Until I receive my item I can't comment on it. I am concerned that my order has not yet shipped. If this is normal I would never use this service again."

The website said that the tire chains would ship same day, but it took 3 business days before they said the item shipped. Even then, it took another day before UPS picked up the shipment. So in total, "ships same day" took 4 business days until UPS picked up the shipment.
