"I ordered a digital camera and received it as expected. I did have to call in for comfirmation, but there was no sales push.
The weakest part was that I thought the packing around the camera could have been better, but I don't see any damage because of it.
I would rate them very good!"
"My previous Minolta Z1 3.2 megapixel digital camera was damaged in an accident and I decided I wanted to upgrade to the Dimage Z2 4.0 megapixel camera. After skirting several gray market sites, I discovered Willoubghy's and confirmed that they were a reliable dealer for this camera on the ResellerRatings.com website. The price I recieved for a NEW, warrantied, US camera (with all manuals, software, memory card, etc.) blew away the refurbished and gray market items flooding the net.
I placed my order on Saturday evening, confirmed the order by phone on Sunday, and had the camera on my doorstep on Thursday. Customer service was polite and professional. Ther was no hassle when I turned down the offered accessory kit since I had everything I needed with my old camera.
Any hesitancy I felt at placing the order was erased at the quick and courteous service I received."
"Pleasantly surprised.
I usually buy from B&H and I was reluctant to buy from W's because not all their feedback on this site is good and they had the lowest price - two warnings! However, their price was considerably lower so I figured I'd try.
When I placed the order, I got both a confirmation page and email with the correct amounts, something I've heard the scammers and criminals often don't provide.
That night I got an email asking me to call the store to confirm my information "for security purposes." I was worried this would be the "shake-down" call (buy overpriced junk or your camera is suddenly out of stock) but after confirming my info, he politely asked if I needed any accessories (I didn't), thanked me for my order and hung up.
That afternoon my credit card was charged the correct amount and my account was updated with a shipment tracking number (less than 24 hours after placing the order). Camera arrived on time with no surprises."
"I decided to upgrade from Canon G6 to Nikon D70. They were extremely helpful and pricing is fair. Willoughbys is customer service oriented and not a fly by night. This is my 2nd purchase from them and same good experience each time. "
"Ordered Canon 20D Kit on Nov 11 and delivered on Nov 12. Attempted soft sell of accessories. Politely said "No thanks" and sales rep (Mark) said "No problem" and continued. Very professional and courteous. Will definately recommend and make future purchases with Willoughby's!"
"The site had the Canon 10D listed for $1026, lowest price at this time anywhere.
I was going to order the item online but decided to just go to the store and buy it myself. So I went there and the manager said that the price went up because the demand was high since they sold so many... and only had some left and raised the price due to the demand. So I told him I would buy a lens if he honored the old price and he did. Then they went and got my order, when I got home I decided to open the box to read the manual, but noticed that the camera looked like it had already been open, the packaging didn't look factory fresh or brand new as advertised. So I had to go all the way back to complain, they told me that it was the last one and long story short, I DID'NT get the camera. Lesson learned don't buy electronics in NY unless its from a major company. Over 100 years in business and still shady."
"Thought Willoughbys was on the up and up. Alas, this was not to be so.
Ordered a Nikon D79 from "Andy" on a Sunday. Was told item was in stock and would be delivered within several days. Called Monday a.m. to cancel and was told, unfortunately, I could not cancel without paying a 15% retocking fee ( about $200. Okay say I. My mistake in bleeive Andy. The truth: the item was not delivered until 4 days later(Thursday) and checking the tracking, it was not shipped until Wendsday night from Willoughbys, 3 days after my call. SO, what's the verdict.. Beware and do not trust them. Also, the delivered equipment had a warranty card that had been filed out by another seller " unique photo". So much for brand new merchandise. And, so much for ever dealing with Willoughbys again "
"I had been searching for a second N80 body within my price range. I thought I'd have to buy second-hand. Another Nikon user recommended this store. They had an incredible price on the N80, and they delivered on it!
I placed an order on Tuesday, and received it on Friday. Exactly as described, complete with all options and paperwork. They kept me informed via e-mails and delivered exactly as promised.
Their web site could use a little bit of rearranging, as I knew what I wanted, but it still took me a while to find it.
Overall I'm very pleased with my buying experience, and intend to patronize their store again."
"I ordered the Pentax Optio S40. They had the very best final price. With shipping & tax they were still cheaper than most stores camera only price. Ordering was easy. Item arrived on time. I would recommend Willoughby's to any one."
"EXCELLENT dealer. I ordered Nikon N80 body for $252 on Fri. They shipped the same day and I received it across country on Thu. The UPS ground shipping charge was a reasonable $14.95.
Brand new with USA warranty. Willoughbys even included the Nikon Accessory Pack (Strap, Batteries and Film) that other retailers charge an extra $25. They did not include the $50 Nikon rebate form nor is available on their website. An email to their customer support got me a quick rebate form in the mail. My $50 is on its way! No other reputable camera dealer has been able to match the $252 price before rebate. B&H/Adorama were both $339. This is a great deal for a great camera. I have added Willoughbys to my short list of recommended firms."
"I ordered Canon Digital Rebel Camera, body only, best price I could find at the time. Shipped and delivered timely. Brand new US warranty. Works well. Exactly what I asked for when I needed it."
"Bait and switch, and overpricing.
After spending probably 30 hours + researching which pro/prosumer digital SLR camera I should finally purchase, I ordered one with Willoughbys. Resellerratings.com rated them highly, and their price wasn't bad on the Pentax body I decided to get. They said I would have it in two days.
They called the day after I expected delivery, and told me my credit card needed further verification. Then a day or two later I was called again: the camera was out of stock for probably another week. I needed the camera for a trip I was leaving on the NEXT day. They told me that my lenses from my old cameras wouldn't work anyway with this new Pentax SLR body (not true) and that perhaps I should buy a different brand, Canon - though I had no Canon lenses. Pressed by time, I needed to make a decision within half an hour if I was going to have a camera for my trip the next day. They had me over a barrel, and without time to research either the price (I knew the camera body was decent and "OK" priced) or quality of the specific lenses I needed. Trusting they actually wanted to help me out, and would not take advantage of my desperate situation they created (a fool is always born in the last minute), they sold me lenses I found soon (but too late to even cancel my order) from other reputable dealers for $150 less. They also tried to sell me memory at a "discount price" of $169, which I found elsewhere (a highly rated reseller) for $99. I felt mugged after this experience. On the plus side, they did send the mess overnight for no extra charge. Small consolation."
"I called these guys before placing the order to confirm that the item (Canon Optura Xi camcorder) WAS IN STOCK. They assured me that it was, charged about $1100 to my credit card and promised that the item would be shipped promptly. After a couple of days of waiting I called them back just to find out that the item was NOT IN STOCK but rather would be shipped to me from Canon directly. After another week of waiting I called to tell them that it was not “kosher” to keep my money in their accounts receivable for a week without delivering the merchandize. They credited my account back saying that Canon would ship the item soon and they would charge me then, waiving S&S. Finally, from today’s phone conversation the Willoughby’s rep I learned that Canon has discontinued the product and I have no reasons to be upset since they credited my money back some time ago. On my remark that the product is still listed on their web site as available, the gentlemen said that it’s just to inform the public about the products technical specs.
Conclusions:
Folks, learn from these guys. This type of operation is a cheep way to raise money for short-term investments!!!"
"Great company with which to do business. I called to make sure the Canon Xi was in stock, sales rep was helpful and pleasant, no sales pitch. After confirming that camera was in stock, placed order on the net at 1:30 PM. The camera (at one of the best prices) was shipped the same day and arrived safe and sound two days later. Received an e-mail from Willoughby’s requesting that infamous conformation telephone call. I called expecting a high pressure push for accessories, but was very surprised to only be advised that the camera had shipped and was given the delivery date – not a single mention of accessories. One of the best companies I have ordered from. Highly recommend."
"I wrote a very disatisfied review of Willoughby's, about their service and their shoddy treatment of me, only to see that my comment is gone!!! I thought Resellerratings was supposed to be impartial, but obviously not, since those who are very disatisfied with the service of Willoughby's are silenced! Willoughby's customer service is horrible, as is their reliability. I ordered a camcorder and waited a few days for it to be processed, which gave me time to change my mind, so I cancelled, they said okay, but they didn't cancel the charge. The next day, my card had been charged 1200, despite my order being cancelled. When I wrote Willoughby's about this alarming detail, they wrote back in a very rude manner. Hey, if an order is cancelled, cancel it, don't charge the card! Anyway, we are still waiting on our refund and wondering what to do if they don't keep their word. Avoid Willoughby's...trust me, it isn't worth the stress.
Very disatisfied"
