"I placed an order online, then called immediately to verify the order and be sure that I would get the camera the nest day as requested. I was assured that the order was complete and I would get it the next day. They did not ship it until the next day in the afternoon. They agreed to refund my shipping charge, but they reprimanded me for not using the more expensive overnight shipping option, since the less expensive one really isn't overnight because they are busy. I will not use them again, this was my first and last time. I only went with them because B&H did not have the camrea in stock."

"Second Camera purchase from Willoughby's and the second essentially perfect experience. Ordered Pentax K100D Super at best price I could find on the Net ( excluding the scam artists). Purchase was verified by their Security Department ( without any pressure to "upgrade" or buy anything else), shipped promptly and arrived on schedule. I am a highly satisfied customer and can recommend Willoughby's-- they do what they say they will."

"Ordered a DSLR lens from them. A couple of days later they sent a email stating that the item had been backordered, and it would take approximately 4 weeks to ship. Yes, I was disappointed, but I was happy that they gave me a **HONEST** answer and estimated ship time so I could make an informed decision on whether to cancel the order.

I ended up cancelling the order. The customer service rep apologized for the inconvenience and had my credit card refunded the next day.

The correspondence took place on a Sunday, outside of "normal" business hours. Wish all online stores were as honest and easy to deal with!

"Very good experience. Ordered a DVX100B online, received an email to call and confirm. I did that, and had the camera in hand 2 days later. They did upsell me on an extended warranty during the call, but really, that's not a bad thing to upgrade to when you get down to it. Overall, I would definately recommend these guys. Very professional and fast. "

"Called to make sure they had a dvx100b in stock. They did. Ordered online(showed in stock). Then called to try and expedite the order, "its not in stock, but you can buy the 'pro package' for another $900..." I said no cancel the order, "let me call you back and see if I can split up the package".. 1min later, "I can sell you 'x package' for $300 more" SCAM SCAM SCAM

STAY AWAY FROM WILLOUGHBYS!!!!
The only good thing is that they canceled my order without too much hassle... $3500 wasnt good enough for them, they had to have more...

Got an email to confirm order.
No pressure.
Camera shipped next day via very slow UPS (not willoughbys fault).
Considering all the rip off camera sellers online, this one was the best I could find with very good prices. I recommend it.

"Seeing the relatively low price, free shipping, and (supposedly) high customer rating for when comparing prices online, I decided to purchase a Canon 5D from Willoughby's online on July 10th. That turned out to be a mistake. I placed the order on the 10th so that I'd be able to take advantage of the $300 dollar rebate from Canon available for 5D's purchased through July 15th. The usual confirmation was emailed to me, and I received calls from both Willoughby's and my credit card company asking me to verify the order. Willoughby's website and the confirmation email stated that they wouldn't charge my credit card until my order was ready to ship. The amount of the camera was charged to my credit card that day. A week passed and I still hadn't received the camera. I check my credit card online, and Willoughby's had credited the amount of the order back to my on July 14th. I checked my order on their website, and it's status was listed as PSH... with no explanation as to what "PSH" means. Since the confirmation email and the verification phone calls on the 10th, I'd receive no other correspondence or calls concerning my order. I called up Willoughby's and was told that the camera was out of stock on the 10th... and continued being out of stock on July 13th, so they refunded my money.

Now, I give the company credit from refunding my money and for having a friendly and helpful customer rep. I did have two questions:
1. If the website says they wouldn't charge my credit card until the order was ready, why was my credit card charged on the 10th?
2. Why wasn't I notified that my order was out of stock?

As helpful as the customer rep was, he didn't have an answer to either question. I made sure the order was formally canceled. By the time I found out about the camera being out stock, it was too late to place the order elsewhere and get the $300 rebate. Even if I received the notice on the 14th, I would've had time to place the order elsewhere and still take advantage of the rebate. (My budget for new camera equipment had taken the rebate into account, and the purchase of the camera has been delayed.)

It's 2006! It's hardly a stretch these days for a reseller to set up their online system to indicate when an item is out of stock or at least send an email notice if an order can't be completed. I recommend that everyone stay away from Willoughby's! The only fortunate part of my experience was that I didn't have to fight to get my money back.

"I purchased a Canon EOS 5D camera body (~$2800) for 2 day delivery on 7/11. On 7/14 I called on the status of my order (which was listed on their website as "In Stock"). They said it would be sent out that same day. I called back 5 min later to change the shipping to overnight, but was told that they were oversold, on backorder, and they didn't know when they would get more. I immediately cancelled my order. It wasn't until 2 days later that I discovered that they had actually charged by CC the day after I placed my order (7/12). They processed a charge to by CC prior to shipment when they probably knew it was on backorder. I'm now trying to get the charge on my CC removed."

"I purchased a Pentax *ist DL with 18-55mm lens and everything has gone very smoothly with this vendor. I received an immediate confirmation email, and the next day, they sent another email asking me to call their toll free number to confirm my order. This was a security measure to safeguard against fraud, but the salesman also took the opportunity to ask if I wanted to purchase some SD cards or a warranty. When I declined, there was no pressure to buy anything else. I then asked if I could change my payment method and there was no problem with that. I was transferred to another customer service agent who took my new payment information and then said that I would receive a shipping confirmation email as soon as the camera ships out. Both customer service reps I dealt with were very courteous and professional, and I never had the sense that I was dealing with some bait and switch company. All in all, I was very pleased with this transaction and I would purchase from them again. They offered a tremendous deal on the Pentax SLR and it was all quite legit. "

"I purchased online from Willoughby's using their pay-pal payment option and in store pick up shipping option. When I got to the store to pick up my merchandise, I was told that I was not allowed to pick up the merchandise and that I would have to have it shipped. I told them to refund my money. They still have not(it has been a week) and I have filed a case with PayPal. This store is a fraud. Avoid them like the plague. They will try to upsell you and then will with hold merchandise if you don't take their upsale bull crap. You would think that spending $4000 would entitle you to customer service but at this store, $4000 doesn't even entitle you to the merchandise you purchased."

"Did a lot of research into companies before I ordered my Canon XL2. For the price and overall rating, I went with Willoughby's. Turned out to be a great choice. Did recieve the "call to confirm and prevent fraud" email, and did get a soft-sell on accesories, but politely explained that I had what I needed, as this was an upgrade. No hassle. Ordered on a Saturday and recieved the camera the next Tuesday. I highly recommend this store."

"On Monday, April 17, 2006 I placed the following order
CANON POWERSHOT SD550 DIGITAL CAMERA Quantity: 1 Price: $323.00

On Friday, April 21, 2006 I called the tool free number provided and spoke to customer service rep Sam. He informed me that the order was “downstairs” and will be shipped out that evening. After checking the status of the order on Saturday, April 22, 2006, I had noticed it was not shipped. On Sunday, April 23, 2006 I called and once again spoke with Sam. He informed me that the item was on “back order”. When asked why this was not listed on the web site & why I wasn’t informed of this on Friday, his reply was “he doesn’t bother with the web site”. I also noticed a fifty six dollar increase in the price of the camera since ordering. I cancelled the order and purchased the camera from Best Buy for thirty one dollars more (including tax) than the original Willoughbys price. Something I should of done a week ago.

Read some of the following "Very Dissatisfied" reviews posted below. Seems to be a scam that this company does.

This was a note posted on my order confirmation Dated April 17, 2006:

Please remember the following as you await your order:
-We will not charge your credit card until your items are ready to ship
and your order is accepted.

This was on a e-mail I just received minutes go (Sunday April 23, 2006):

Thank you for your recent business with Willoughbys.com. As we discussed, a refund to your credit card has been issued and the refund was processed successfully.

Okay....that's nice to know. Since my credit card was not suppose to be billed.

"Excellent!!

Ordered the Canon Rebel XT on April 3rd for $755. I received an email stating that I would need to call to "verify" my order with them. I knew this meant that they would try to sell me something, and I was right. They asked for my shipping info, then asked if I wanted a warranty for "1/2 off", then asked if I needed a memory card. I turned both down, they did not pressure me whatsoever. It was a breeze!

On April 4th I received my shipping confirmation, and even though I opted for the free shipping, the camera was on my doorstep on April 5th! (I live in MA, and they ship out of NY, so it should be quick anyway).

Overall I highly recommend Willoughby's. You can't beat the prices. Since they are an authorized Canon dealer, I was able to take advantage of the $100 rebate, bringing the cost down to an amazing $655!!!!!
