"A "PayPal company" is what made me try Xoom service. I logged in using PayPal account, entered all info to initiate the transfer. A few hours later an email from Xoom arrived asking to call them to help process the transaction.
A person barely speaking English asked a lot of questions (with numerous repeats, some of them were quite dumb) and told me at the end they could not authenticate my account (which is active for more than 10 years with PayPal) and my transfer did not meet their rules.Their fees are higher than other services. Why would anyone use Xoom when there are so many decent options available?"
"I wish I had red some reviews before I got duped to sending money to my family in Jamaica. I used to have an account with Paypal and cancelled it when it took them almost 5 days for my sister to receive the money from Canada to the USA. It was not to a third world country for christ sakes! When Xoom kept bombarding my inbox with information which I know now was false I thought I would give it a try. Big mistake! I sent money to my family on Dec 22. First of all when you go to their platform It asks you if you would like your recipient to have the money deposited to their account. I thought this was great because it would not only save time for my relatives to stand in line for hours as you can expect in a Jamaican bank. Alas this information was false. When the money arrived in jamaica the drama started. First they sent me an email stating the money has been delivered to the receiving bank Scotia bank. Not true. Second email stated that my recipient needed to contact Xoom partner in this case JMMB in Jamaica and provide them with her identification which she was more than glad to do. She went to JMMB office and filled out forms where they told her that she will be notified as to when the transaction will be completed. Two days later having heard nothing from Xoom I contacted them to find out what was going on. They told me that their partner (JMMB was not responding to requests regarding an update on the transaction. They promised to call me once they find out. This was on Jan 6th. On Jan 7th I contacted customer service who continued to make promises about how good they were and that they will get back to me asap. While I was on the phone with a supervisor I received an email stating that my relative, the recipient reached out to them and tried to find out what was going on however for privacy reasons they could not speak with her and that they were trying to contact me but they could not. So I asked them I was on the phone with a supervisor when you sent me the email , how did you try to contact me? The representative started to apologize and said that the email is a generic email and that no attempt was made to contact me. This is how Xoom does its business. Making false promises , creating high standard expectations and in the end leave you hanging. Given my past experience with Pay Pal I should have known better. But hey they got me! Its been almost 2 weeks since I sent the money and now all I can do is wait. Their false promises are what is stopping me from cancelling the transaction. I know when I had issues with Pay Pal they were eager to offer me a refund after I had already wasted 7 days! I can see the same scenario happening again here. Xoom is just another fly by night operation started by John Kunze. If Husein Bolt run at the pace Xoom sends your money he would have been the slowest man on the planet on steroids! Its a shame that Xoom is using a very false narrative to generate its business. Incidentally, the corporate phone number in San Francisco is also forwarded to Phlilipines! which is of no surprise because the founders of Xoom are preying on desperate people like me who want to help their families back home. Except this is the last time I will use this service and I will advise all the people I know to never ever use this service. Sending the money by wire might be slow but at least we know in advance whats expected not like false and lieing Xoom scamers!!

"I started using xoom becuase it was a PayPal company but it has nothing of the great servicio PayPal has. First IT was great for the couple of transactions. But then they started to hold my transactions tell I had to call and verify my identity they asked for my driver license. That I sent them so they can finish the transaction. Becuse of that hold I lost $400 dollars and they said it was the only thing that they need that there will be no other hold after that. Well they lied they held it again this time they needed more proof of me now they asked for bank statements of the card I was using.i also provided them with that after like almost more then 40 min on hold while they verified the documents. At the end they said they could not accept it so they refunded my money. When asked for a reason they could not tell me for there privacy policy. Well that is bullshxx becuase I lost more then $600 dollars becuase of some holds and another reason they could not tell me becuse of there policy privacy. So I lost $600 dollars.and all they could say is that sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for using xoom but what about my lost money. I will never use them or recommend them ever. XOOM IS THE WORST COMPANY TO SEND MONEY oo and I gave it one star becuase they dont have a negative 1000 star button "
"xoom is really easy and convenient to use to send money abroad. The exchange is rate is not as great as if you were to wire transfer from banks, but I still recommend their service to send money and their fee is good. Anything over about $1000, the recipients need to provide a copy of valid ID which is important for security. I highly recommend their service."
