"Good price, free shipping, prompt delivery. I'd buy from them again."
"The overall experience with this company has been excellent. Starting with the first inquiry to Scott about the company and throughout the production, delivery and even after we received the computer.
As a consumer, I must admit that I'm a skeptic, but doing the research and asking the right questions is the responsibility of the buyer. I spent most of my life in the retail field and know that there is truth in "Buyer Beware." This is why we chose to order this computer after the holidays and we were informed from the day it was purchased that the estimated ship would be pushed out a week. These types of communications add to a company's integrity and make the buyer know where they stand.
This unit was delivered exactly as ordered and to my surprise an excellent quality and the performance is better than I could have imagined.
For a high end unit, it compares to an Alienware without that cost of the name brand.
Thank you for delivering an excellent buy."
"I purchased a custom built system from XG on Christmas day. Due to the holiday season the shipping was slightly delayed however this was communicated to me very early. XG is right there with updates, very prompt email/phone responses to questions and I was even notified that the 64 bit OS I ordered is newer and not ideal for gaming and encouraged me to get the traditional version (cheaper for me). I got all the components I ordered and everything is going smoothly, with no conflicts at all. Overall a good experience and Scott is a great person to deal with.
***UPDATE 5/31/08***
Still going strong after 2.5 years. Have not had a single problem with this computer (knock on wood) and it has been my most future-proof PC ever purchased. I just upgraded my video card and it really breathed new life into my PC. It is going to last me a LONG time!"
"Below average ordering experience. Ordered an ALU Z-ALIEN 450 WATT case with blue eyes. Was sent one with red eyes. The extra components I ordered were put inside the case without bubblewrap or anything to prevent them from bouncing around during shipping. The side window to the case was scratched as a result. The exterior of the case had a small chip in the paint on the upper left corner.
All initial e-mail and phone attempts to contact them were met with a generic message (phone) and e-mail reply "loop" that got no contact with a representative. I got the corporate headquarters phone number for Xtreme Gear from the BBB. When I called I was soon hung-up on.
Only after I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau did I get a response and an offer to replace the case. But it had been over a month and I had already put my components in the case, having decided to settle for what Xtreme Gear shipped. Ordered a couple more items later due to decent prices-but will never order a case (or even peripheral) again after learning about Newegg and other better retailers."
"Order complete system 2 weeks before Xmas, was able to pickup on time, system was excellent price for quality parts. Everything was handled professionally and courteously, would definitely buy from them again."
"***UPDATE*** as of 01/05/06 by Chuck
Scott did hold up this end of the deal. I did get the PC back actually a day ahead of schedule(yesterday). He actually called me last Friday to confirm the shipping of my PC ahead of time and he confirmed that before it went out, everything was running/tested perfect. I was shocked to get his call but shows that Scott does try to make things right. I wish his dedication would have started sooner and none of this would have happened, so I think. I received my PC back, it booted just fine and everything is working as I had hoped. I am very impressed with their second effort. I can't reverse my complete opinion/review. Scott is just one person. If I knew he placed my order, built it, shipped it and communicated like he did with me, I would recommend people to buyxg.com, but I don't think everyone shares Scott's commitment. There are two techs, James and Reni. If you get them or Scott, you should get great service. I am cautiously content with everything at this point. Thanks Scott for seeing my order thru this challenging time.
Chuck
I hate to give bad ratings for companies, but Scott, your company has forced me to do this after tonights discussion with your tech department.
I would not encourage anyone to order complete systems from buyxg.com. I ordered a custom AMD X2 based system on 12/08/05 and it arrived as they promised, but everything went down hill from the moment I opened the box. It is currently 12/29/05 and still no working PC and inconsistent info each time I speak with sales or tech. Scott is actually the only person I speak with in sales.
I received my PC and it was DOA. Called their tech and we got it to load windows after reseating multiple chips/cards. Then find out that the video card is not recognized and when we tried to load the drivers, I get blue screens. After 4 hours on the phone, they opt for me to send it back. They expected me to ship it back ground, give them a week to fix it and another week to ship it back. I didn't agree and they offered ground shipping back, 2-3 day rush fix and 3 day shipping back to me. I agreed. I call them later the day they get the PC back (12/28/05) and speak with Tech. They say it will be 2-3 weeks before they get to it and then another week to ship it back. GUYS, I BOUGHT A PC THAT WAS DOA, WHY SHOULD I SUFFER FOR 4 WEEKS FOR YOU TO FIX IT???????????? Now get this. I asked to speak with a manager because they changed the agreement I made orginally and sure enough no manager yet again. 3rd time I asked to speak with a manager. So I asked to speak with Scott in sales and techs can't transfer calls to sales. I call sales, get Scott and explain my situation and he said they are backed up. BUT SCOTT, YOU SOLD ME A DOA PC. WHY SHOULD I SUFFER? So I ask for a refund and then Scott starts to "communicate" with Techs immediately asking for me to give them one more chance. That if he doesn't get me a tracking number next Tuesday, I will get my refund, no questions asked.
Scott, this is on your word now! I would have been happy to get a refund tonight while speaking with you, because buyxg doesn't have their act together, but you wanted one more chance. I have to warn other potential buyers though of your companies inconsistencies.
If you really care and want to make things up, you would ship the PC NEXT DAY/RED LABEL instead of 3day back to me. But I bet you can't do that, even to try and amend a battered customer.
Oh and can you make sure my 3 extra fans are at least in the box this time. As I bet they will not be. And after calling tech for them the first time, they still haven't been shipped as promised.
I will update this as time passes.
Buyers Beware.
Chuck"
"BuyXG did a superb job building my system. They put much care into bundling cables together and even set up 'optional' accessories, such as the case Temp display and fan speed knob.
They definately did not throw the system together haphazardly; they know how to do it right.
It took maybe 5 days to ship, but was well worth it."
"wanted a new system so I ordered from scott tran at buyxg and was told all parts were in stock and confirmed in email that I was getting evga 7800 gt video card part#vc-147-105 twice. "I was looking to build a custom computer and used PriceWatch.com to identify possible vendors. I found that XtremeGear's web site provided a lot of options for a custom computer and the prices were very reasonable. I got a great system, that arrived in perfect working order, at what I believe to be a value price, only paying a slight premium over the lowest prices on the internet for the individual components for an assembled system.
The configurator tool showed the options that I was selecting which was better than competitor sites. My only criticism was that the motherboard I ordered was out of stock and I did not get notification of this till the day after my shipping date. This caused a delay in my order that I think could have been avoided. But their customer service agent was very helpful in making an alternate selection and then was built and shipped promptly. I got the impression that their available motherboards change frequently.
All in all a very positive experience and my system works like a dream."
"Purchased an XFX 6600 GT card from XtremeGear.com. I received a tracking number quickly and the card arrived well packaged and on time. Overall, a good on-line shopping experience from a company that I would reccomend to a friend."
"When I ordered I was called the same day you got the order to be notified that the item I ordered was on backorder and I was given an option to wait or cancel the order. That alone was ecellent customer service. I decided to wait a while since I wasn't getting my other components until later either. While my other components were being shipped, you company got the part in and sent it to me right away. So while the other components took 4 days in shipping, you guys got the part in from backorder and shipped it so that I got all the pieces for my computer together on the same day. I would definitly recommend you to others."
"An excellent on-line shopping experience in all respects! The staff at XtremeGear were awesome and I'm highly satisfied with the PC I purchased from them and with their customer support! You couldn't find a better value anywhere else on the 'Net.

"I had been considering buying a notebook for quite some time. When I started going to college again it really became a priority, but none of the manufacturers (other than Acer) really had what I wanted in an AMD Athlon/Athlon 64 package. I had considered buying from Dell since I got a discount, but my husband discovered XG in one of our PC mags and we checked them out. I picked out the 4000 notebook with XP Pro, 1 GB of Corsair XMS RAM, Athlon 64 3400+ CPU, and a CD/DVD burner. The ability to pick and choose my features was easy and the price was right. I wanted my case to be pink (go ahead and laugh--but who is going to want to rip off a pink laptop) but the wait time was a bit too long so I just went with a silver case. I got it sooner than originally dated, and it all works great. It purrs like a kitten so far and one of my team mates at school was really checking it out compared to her HP. Nice to have something different and powerful. Thanks XG--you guys rock!"
"I shopped at the Xtreme Gear site for several days before sending in some questions. I quickly received intelligent and complete answers to my questions which added to my confidence that this group could meet my equipment needs. I placed an order for a complex system configuration and found their web site easy to use, complete and I received a confirmation of my order by e-mail almost instantly after submitting my order. I was not in a hurry for the equipment so I did not request rush service or shipping but the order shipped long before I expected it and I received the system earlier this week. It was well packed and came through fine. I checked the cables and boards and had to reseat several cables and the boards as the shipping had shifted some of them around a bit but this is to be expected. Everything worked fine. I did have a Cold Cathode light installed and the inverter for that apparently shorted out or something as it started smoking after several hours. I disconnected it and emailed the salesperson -- Scott, who was a pleasure to deal with -- about the fact that the light needed to be replaced and that one small accessory item did not ship with my unit. He quickly got back to me with a number for Tech Support who would deal with the light issue and he said that indeed they had not included the item and that he would ship it to me that day. I expect the missing item to arrive within the week but haven't yet received it. I called the toll free number for Tech Support, listened to 5-10 minutes of music before speaking with a knowledgeable person who told me he would ship me a new light and that was it. I expect that soon as well. I forgot to mention that about 8 days after I placed the order my phone rang and it was Scott telling me that the unit was ready for shipping but that the speakers I had ordered were on back order and would ship later. I said fine and I was pleasantly surprised that the entire system had been assembled and tested so quickly. Great prices, terrific service and high quality product and assembly. My experience couldn't have been much better and I fully expect that the few outstanding items will be resolved quickly to my satisfaction. Count me as Xtremly Satisfied!"
"First time ordering from this outfit, based this decision in large part due thier score here. This will also be the last time I order from 'ExtremeGear'. The order and delivery process went smooth enough, I ordered from Extreme Gear, Zipzoomfly, and Newegg all on the same day. Extreme Gear wasn't as good about notifying me on the status of my order as the others and thier package arrived a day later but then the other two are the 'gold standard' in on-line ordering so EG wasn't too shabby. They fell apart with regard to thier 'customer service' however as it is non-existant. The Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe I ordered from them was DOA, I have e-mailed three times with no response and called twice. neither phone call was answered but the second one got me a voice mail, I left a message but never recieved a reply. For me it is worth a couple extra dollars to go with a re-seller that knows that taking care it a customer is paramount.
UDATE: After two weeks of fruit-less e-mails and phone calls I finally get a contact name (Dave) and number, only to call it and get someone else from what apprears to be a sister company working out of the same building. At any rate, this clown could not recognize thier own customer or order numbers which is not surprising since the numbers differed depending on whether you are looking at the order form or packing slip. Not only could this guy not help me, when I asked that he have 'Dave' call me back he refused because the call would cost them money. Later that day I did get in touch with 'Dave' who was borderline rude and un-apologetic for BuyXG's lack or orginization or customer service. He did provide a RMA number to return the motherboard for refund but insisted on a 15% re-stocking fee. A re-stocking fee for a DOA motherboard that isn't being restocked? My originalk intent was an exchange or even store credit, however considering thier lack of performance and non-existant customer service a refund was all I was willing to consider. I take comfort in the knowledge that BuyXG has lost much more than the 15% restocking fee in lost sales to me alone, not to mention anyone reading this review who changes thier mind about ordering from them.
Update #2. Recived a call from BuyXG promising to provide a full refund, but of course this was not what happened. They still took out thier 15% and refunded me $136.00 instead of the full $160. Worst on-line ordering experience I have had in several years, avoid them like the plague. Also makes me wonder about all these other glowing ratings and thier high score here, doesn't add up."
