"A bit pushy in the salesman. Coaxed additional item that was not in fact required to make the camera work. Offered to expidite shipping at no extra charge, because of the delay in processing order. Added additional shipping anyway, calling it "insurance" that I did not request. Slow to process order and slow to ship period. Difficult to contact a "human" at customer service and not sympathetic when I finally got there. I will NEVER order from this place again!"

"This is one of the most shady and abysmal net retailers I've encountered to date.

I found the Canon PowerShot SD100 Digital Elph for $229, which is a great deal considering this camera retails for $299.

Initially, I called in to ask about shipping time. I needed both the cameras by this thursday. I was told that my best bet would be to go with the overnight shipping, since it might take a few days for processing. The representative was pretty rude and was really urging me to place the order. I said I'd think about it and place the order online. Anyways, I decided on the purchases and placed the order. The message stated it would take 48 hours to process, which was unacceptable. Fortunately, there was something that stated the customer could call to expedite the order.

I called in and the operator transfered me to the sales department. I ran into the infamous "Walter," who asked some confirmation information, after which he immediately started his sales pitch. He asked me if I needed memory. I told him I had memory, so I was covered in that area. He then suggested, actually suggested is an inaccurate word, he nearly demanded that I purchase the battery. When I told him the camera should include both the battery and charger, I could sense his irritation. He said this particular model did not include the battery/charger pair, and a camera without power would not be of much use to me. He pushed me to paying $50 more for a "kit" that included the charger and the battery. I told him I wasn't budgeted to make additional purchases. For some reason this caused him to snap. He started accusing me of speaking to him with a raised voice, which I was absoulutely not, and that he wouldn't take it. I said I simply needed the camera and I would appreciate if he could expedite the order. The guy then responded by saying, "we don't have the kits without the battery or charger, so you have to buy the kit for $279." I asked to speak to someone else, preferably a higher up. He told me that he was the boss and that there was noone above him. I asked to speak the general manager or owner, because there had to be someone above him, but he refused and hung up on me.

I was a bit worried that this company would charge me for the items and then tie the funds for a while, citing, "billing issues." After all, they already established themselves as dishonest establishment.

I spoke to two managers who claimed they were under "Walter," and that they couldn't do anything. The second person transfered me back to "Walter" when I specifically told him not to. I told "Walter" I wanted my order canceled. He didn't ask for any information or an invoice number he simply said, "your order is canceled" and slammed the phone down on me.

I don't know what's up with this company. I'll never ever, ever, ever, EVER, deal with them again, that's for certain.

"A&M Photo World and Digital Liquidators are the same people (scammers).

I came across their websites which both have some of the cheapest prices on video equipment. I e-mailed both websites questions about a product. Both websites replied with nearly the same response: “Contact us 1-800-xxx-xxxx and talk to a customer care rep.”

Seeing that both e-mailed were similar, I looked up their domain registrations. Hmmmm… They both are registered to the same address, 2922 L Ave, Brooklyn NY. Their phone numbers and fax numbers are almost identical. Their websites were both designed by the same company (look at the bottom) and they are both hosted on the same ISP.

First of all, on a personal note, the website says “Friendly Operators,” there were everything but friendly when I called them.

So, I called up their “Friendly Operators” (not) and asked about a camera that I wanted to order. The website listed the price at $2800 and the customer representative said it was $3400. I said, you website says it’s $2800 and he said “that’s for our overseas market.” I also asked what accessories came with the camera.

I then asked him if his company was associated with Digitalliquidators.com and he said no.

Then he came right out and asked, “Do you want to buy the camera or not.” (I’m not going to drop $3400 on a camera without finding out what it comes with first.) I said, “I just want to make sure I’m not getting scammed here,” and the guy just hung up the phone on me.

On an additional side note. If you call either A&M Photo World’s or Digital Liquidators’ 1-800 number and hit extension 767, Walter answers the phone. That’s kind of a coincidence isn’t it? That two companies that have nothing to do with each other, both have Service Reps named Walter on the same extension number.

Bait and switch at it’s best.

"Let me add my horror story about these crooks... Unfortunately, I learned of this site only after my purchase. I orginally placed an order for the Panasonic GS-PV70 camcorder for the advertised web price of $569 plus $28.45 for shipping, for a total of $597.45. After I called to "confirm" the purchase as requested by email, I spoke with "Walter" at x767. He used the typical "hard-sell" tactics and tried to get me to purchase additional items. In fact, he was so pushy, I almost cancelled the order. I should have! We discussed purchasing an additional battery that had longer life than the one that comes with the camcorder. To keep the deal, he told me he would include the additional long-life battery and a battery charger in the sale for an additional $130 (plus $50 for shipping, or $749 total). I relented and agreed, since this is about the average price out there for the camcorder itself. Well, when I received the camcorder and invoice, I was billed $699.99 and $50 for shipping, or $749.99 total. No mention of the additional long life battery and battery charger and I haven't seen them. "Bait and Switch"? Anyway, I'm giving them the option of either sending me the additional battery and charger or to provide a credit to my credit card for the price difference of $152.54 ($749.99-$597.45). If by some miracle they do come through, I'll revise this rating accordingly. I won't hold my breath... "

"This is quite possibly the worst company I have ever dealt with. I ordered a Canon EOS 10D from them on December 26th, 2003 and went through the painful confirmation process via phone December 28th, 2003 where a sales rep attempted to sell me numerous other items with flat out lies such as "The camera will not work without X." When the item still had not shipped by December 30th I called them the first time and was pleasantly told it would be on the truck that day. The next day, no shipping confirmation, so I wait patiently until January 5th when I call them again, and I'm told the exact same thing, it will be on the truck tomorrow morning. Imagine my surprise when I still did not receive a confirmation. So here we are on January 8th where I call again and I'm told it will be shipped first thing Monday and upgraded to next day air, and they are very sorry for the delay. Monday comes around, no shipping confirmation. Tuesday the 13th another call is placed and I'm told they're very sorry and I'll see the confirmation within 24 hours as it's being placed on the truck right then. The next day...no shipping confirmation. I call back and I'm finally told that it has been out of stock this whole time (after I was billed for the product on December 29th, 2003.)

This my friends is what we call consumer fraud. Stay away from this company if you value your sanity.

"Did not purchase item from this reseller. Although prices seem great at first, it was a painful experience getting any kind of help. Salespeople were flat out rude. I spoke with three different salespeople and the results were the same. Product was not as advertised. Digital Camera was listed as including battery (a basic need!!!), but salespeople tried to tell me it was a typo and wanted to charge me an additional $20 for it."

"Just want to add my name to the long list of those who just barely avoided being conned by this place.

Ordered Minolta Digital camera because the price was great. Got the email asking me to confirm my order by calling. On the phone, I was given the same hard sell on stuff that was irrelevant to my purchase as others have commented on. In my case, I was told that Minolta's own data was wrong, and the camera used "AA" batteries to run the internal clock but I had to have the NiMH batteries to actually take pictures. What a joke. When I finally said "Either send me only what I ordered or I'll cancel my order" I got the 6-8 weeks for delivery line. If this isn't grey market, I don't know what is. I cancelled my order immediately.

In 10 years of on-line ordering and, before that, 15 years of mail-ordering of electronics of all sorts, this is the first time I've even been treated like this. I would like to know what state these people operate from so I could complain to the Attorney's General.

Never, ever purchse from this place.

"I found the Panasonic PV-GS70 camcorder at this site for an unbelievable price and ordered it. When I called to confirm my order, the sales guy tried to sell me all kinds of extra junk that I didn't want. Then he tells me that the camcorder comes with a battery that only lasts for 30 minutes. I knew for a fact that it was supposed to come with a two hour battery so I called him on it. He told me that I was wrong, so I asked if this was the USA model. He said yes and then asked me what warranty I wanted. I said the one year that it comes with is fine. He told me it only came with a 90 day warranty. So I called him on that as well. Finally he admitted it was a gray market model and that I could buy the US model for 150 dollars more. That's the same price as the reputable dealers. Needless to say I cancelled my order. The guy did at least tell me to have a nice day, but I will NEVER purchase from these people again. They are shady and deceptive."

"I placed an order for a coolpix 5000 because the price was great. However, I found this site within hours of placing my order. I paid $49.99 for overnight shipping because i wanted the product quickly - which is very high shipping charges. After reading the reviews, I called the company and like so many others have stated, I got the usual run-around. First he wanted to upgrade my CF card, then batteries, then extended warranty. I was able to say no to those by stating that I already had them and didn't need warranty. He then put me on hold for about 10 minutes, came back and informed me that there would be an additional charge of $29.99 for INSURANCE! I complained and said that AMEX wouldn't like hearing about unauthorized charges after my order was completed to which he replied that I should have received an email explaining the charges. I assured him I had not, was not willing to pay the additional charge and he cancelled my order - with my approval.

Overall - practice stinks, CS rep was nice but shady, and I will never order from them again. I'm just glad I was able to cancel my order without any further headaches.

" This company was selling the Canon Powershot S400 the least among the others so I ordered one, just the camera. I had to give them a call because I just realized there was no delivery date for the ground shipping that I chose. I was put on hold for 15 minutes, a male voice answered and I tried to ask for the delivery date of my order but he was selling me extra batteries for $40.00, extra memory (128) for $70.00, then he changed it to $80.00, then a bag for $10.00. All these great deal because I was a first-time customer. I was also put on hold many times during our conversation because I cant make a decision yet. I ended up getting the camera ($350) + batteries ($40) + memory ($80) totalling $520.00 w/ shipping to be delivered on tuesday 12/23. After 30 minutes I had to call them back for I dont remember in any part of our conversation of a $50 shipping cost. Again, I was on hold for 15 minutes. The same male voice answered and he said he remembered my voice too because according to him that he spoke w/ me for about 30 minutes. I was asking him nicely how he came up w/ a total of $520, and he answered me very rudely that he was "very busy" and that he is again going to give me "the numbers for the third time even after speaking to me for 30 minutes". (Is that great customer service?!!) He said $19.95 for ground shipping and $30.00 for priority shipping very rudely again. I tried to tell him that I dont remember seeing the $19.95 charge for the ground shipping on their site. He was shouting his lungs off and accused me of being a liar and that he will cancel my order and charge me $45 for restocking fee. Of course I had to decline that charge, for I dont even have the camera and I dont believe my order has been processed. I was not done talking to him when he hanged up on me. I think that explains everything on why I will NEVER buy anything from this company or will I recommend anyone from even trying their site. VERY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE."

"They accepted my international VISA (order from abroad), then only required to call their ext. 767 (Walter). First, he said that the order was cancelled, because it's from abroad. I told: OK, so I will send money by wire. Walter - no way. I said: but I found that it is possible in the company policy. Walter: so what do you want?
- Nikon D100 - What else? - Memory card - You don't need battery? - No, I want memory card - Aha, so we do not have D100 in stock. Call after couple of weeks.

That the way of doing businness. Never more amphotoworld.

"They advertise Canon EOS-300D kit for $800. Then when you place the order, they send you a mail asking you to confirm the order by phone:
"For verification purposes, please call our customer service department at 1-***-***-**** ext. 767, in order for us to proceed and process your order."
When you call them to "verify" your order, they tell you that the price DOES NOT INCLUDE BATTERY OR CHARGER!!!. Adding these would have popped the price to $999, which is the same price as in most local stores.
I cancelled my order immediately.
I did not like the way they try to lure you to pay more than they advertise. I wonder what Canon Corp. thinks about this kind of thing?
First and last time for me to do business with them. Avoid.
