"bait and switch big time! When I refused to buy any accessories the response was " the camera is out of stock, do you want to cancel?" They said it would take 6 weeks to deliver and 8 weeks later still nothing! When I called they said they still had no idea when it would become available! Lies!!! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS STORE."
"Is this a legitimate business operation? I placed an order for a dig cam and come to find out that the factory battery and charger are extra costs at A & M. After arguing with the sales rep about why a factory included item is now extra, I asked to cancel my order. The rep said "fine" and promptly hung-up on me. Is this a joke, how can a place like this stay in business? Avoid A & M Photo."
"I seems like an echo in here! I ordered a camera, recieved the email days later asking to "confirm" my order, and then the hassels continued. I had a rude phone conversation to "confirm" my order. Then I found out my purchase was on indefinate backorder. I called and left numerous voicemails and never heard back from the company. Today I sent an email to cancel my order. However, when I went online to check my order status it had already been cancelled. No call or email from the company to tell me this, but I would have been waiting a long time to get my camera! I guess my phone calls became a little hostile and they didn't want my business!"
"What a scam. Just like every other post on this retailer, they get you to buy on the lowest price on the net and then get you to call them
back to confirm the order. They will then try
to sell you more items at rediculously high
prices. With this particular order, I was
asked if I needed 1 charger and 1 battery or 2
battery. I was stumped at first but later found out that it doesn't come with any batteries and charger. And it costs $200 for the battery and
charger. Go figure. THis is the first I've heard! Never buy from this retailer. "
"First note: I did NOT complete the purchase! I just cancelled my order.
I just cancelled my order with A&M Photoworld for a Kodak DX6490 digital camera. A&M is listed on many shopping Web pages as having the camera in stock. Shortly after I ordered they sent me an email and claimed they needed to verify some credit card information and I needed to call them. When I called all I got was a sales pitch for additional equipment and was then informed the camera was on backorder and there would be "a week or week-and-a-half" delay. The next day I received an email telling me the camera was on backorder and there would be a delay of between two and eight weeks!
I've yet to read much positive about this outfit and now I see why."
"Deceptively low pricing. I attempted to purchase Sony DSC p-200 at their online price of $289; only to learn that this price was without a battery. They didn't even include the battery supplied by manufacturer. They only wanted to have the lowest price listed on the web and talk you into a longer life battery. Extremely shady company! I cancelled the order immediately."
"Please never buy from this store... If you like your money, go elsewhere...
They get you in with lowest prices on the web, then ask you to wait for 5 weeks or else buy a "package" that they can ship quickly which is overpriced and has fake products in it...
"
"can you say SCAM! they LURE you in with low price. I even called to confirm the order and what came with it. needless to say what they said on the phone the day I ordered it, thursday. Received email tuesday saying contact them to comfirm order? With that, here comes the part of the bait and switch. they VERY RUDELY told me all that came with my order was the camera (not everything that is in the manufacturers box(as told on the earlier phone call)) that's an additional cost. I CANCELLED the order as he chuckled with anger. NEVER use this company. They were to send cancellation confirmation, have yet to receive it."
"Be careful when purchasing from this company, as many others on this forum would agree.
After placing an order, you will have to call to confirm. Be prepared for a extremely pushy sales rep who will try to sell you additional equipment for exaggerated prices. Do not say yes to any of this unless you know the exact price of the items you want.
Once you make your purchase, be sure to review prices on every item, write them down and ask for the shipping costs as well. For shipping they might charge you 4x more than you filled out on the online form. If you are not happy, cancel the order.
Also ask specifically if the camera is a US model with US warranty. Apparantly, the extension Mack warranty sold separately covers non-US models, but only after the manufacturer's usually 1 year warranty expires.
The invoice will not specify separate items. If you get charged more than you agreed upon, call your bank and ask to dispute the transaction right away; they will investigate it."
"I did not complete an order with these guys. This is a total sscam! They said that they could sell the Sony HVR-Z1U Professional Digital Camera for $3,149.00. This is below US dealer purchase price. When I asked how this was possible, they hung up. Then every time I called back, they hung up!!"
"**Note: If you have been scammed by A&M photo, please file a report with the better business bureau to get them shut down: www.bbb.org**
I wish I had known about resellerratings before I tried to order from these guys. They tried to sell me a non-USA model of the canon optura 60 videa camera. While "confirming" my order they told me I had to purchase the battery and AC adapter (which comes with the US version) for an additional $200. When I told them no, they hung up on me. I checked my order status and it had been cancelled. However, after reading the reviews on this site I decided to go ahead and cancel my credit card to avoid possibly being charged anyway. BEWARE!"
"*** Forget the BBB, they can't enforce anything. File a complaint with the consumer protection agency. www.oag.state.ny.us/consumer/consumer_issues.html?
They actually charged me $60 more than when I checked out, in addition to the same complaints from everyone else. These guys need to be put out of business."
"Can you say "Bait and Switch?" I Ordered and a day later receive a call asking me to upgrade to the retail "kit". I claim their site has the word "kit" in the product title and they are pulling bait and switch techniques. I cancel my order because the employee does'nt want to "aregue with [me]." Ill just take my business elsewhere and hope the company fails miserably with the scams and illegal practices (only some states consider this illgal unfortuneatly). Just don't buy from them. "
"This store had the lowest price I was able to find for a NIKON 5600 coolpix digital camera. After I put my order i got a call the next day asking me to call back. At first it seemed it was just for confirming my shipping address, but in fact as soon as that was done, the rep start to try to push me to buy adds on, with misinformation: for example that the camera on regular 2 AA batteries would only be able to take 5 pictures, and therefore I needed rechargeable batteries. He also wanted me to buy a warranty, which left me perplexed since this camera comes with a one year warranty from the manufacturer. When I said no, very rudely he said: you are not going to get a warranty for just 15$??. At this point I decided I rather pay more money for people that deserve it than reward this jerk. i cancelled my order. On the positive side I got an email confirming my order cancellation. For sure I will never buy from this questionable online store"
"Classic bait/switch. Ordered 4/12/2005, received email saying "call to confirm". Called, left message - sounds like a dandy operation out of someone's basement. No call back. Called again, nothing. Canceled order and received confirmation of the same.
Also note that the price "doesn't include a charger or battery". Not that that's a critical piece of equipment in a digital camera or anything.
A friend ordered at the same time (she's writing her review now), and received rude commentary on top of bad service on top of a non-existent camera.
You need to shop here like you need a hole in your head.
