"I buy a new digital camera. The sony cybershot dsc-t7. Great price. I then call to verify and they try to sell the battery that should come with camera. They say no what you normally get is a 20 minute battery. Which is crap. You should get a lithium battery thats rechargeable. I tell them thats not true and they say thats how they all are so I tell them to cancel my order right away. They are good at canceling orders I'll tell you that much."

"HORRIBLE COMPANY WITH NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FLAT OUT LIEING. I went found their site had a really good price for a Sony Kde 42xs955 42 Plasma Wega HDTV I wanted. (this should have been the first red flag as it was $2000 less than Best Buy :) I called them up to place the order for the TV and mounting bracket. He then asked me for all my info and CC # which I gave him. Then the up-sells started. He said, "you need the upgraded warranty for $800. I said "no thanks" He proceed to lie and said the TV will need to be re-serviced and will burn out in 1 year (total lie) He told he to check into it and call back because he will not sell me the TV without the $800 warranty. I told him to please cancel the order and thanks for his time...Brad ext 735.

I later called back for a manager and got a hold of a Tommy and began to tell him the HORRIBLE experience I had with one of his sales reps. He then said "Are you out of your mind? I would not let the TV go out the door without a warranty either" I said thanks for your time and here I am.

Bottom line, these kids are low class rookies and it shows in all these posts. There has to be someway to get their business license revoked...Any Ideas?

"AM Photoworld has one of the WORST customer service ever! Their customer service people are rude and inconsiderate. I've talken to them over the phone for a question I had with them and both times they have hung up on me. I received a call from them trying to sell me a battery pack and when I said I would like to check into it, they had said that they were very busy and that they were going to cancel my order, and with that, they hung up. What kind of customer service is that?! For one thing, I am NEVER going to order from this website again. And I will recommend people NOT to use this website. "

"Same deal as everyone else. When I called to confirm my order, they said it wasn't the U.S. model and I would not have a warranty without paying hundreds extra and would also need an extra battery pack, etc. I ordered it anyhow. Two months later, it hasn't arrived and their website says it's on back-order. I called them to cancel and have been getting a run-around. Don't waste your time with these bozos."

"No invoice number because I cancelled my order, which wasn't so easy. This site is a scam to upsell, they ask you to contact them about your info and then tell you that oh, did you know that the (Canon digital elph sd500 in my case) is the European model and comes without a battery or charger, I would only get a battery that lasts 10 minutes (have you ever seen what's supposed to be a lithiom battery last only 10 minlutes?) -- I could upgrade for another $49 if I want! This is baloney as I live overseas and even if you check the Canon site you can see it comes with battery and charger in the European version. Not only that but this merchants web page says in the specs that the camera has a lithion battery. Come on.

The manager isn't in the office and has no last name. These guys are pros at the con game.

Stay FAR AWAY from this seller.

"I tried to buy from this site on numerous occasions simply going on their wonderful prices. The phrase "too good to be true" is definitely appropriate in this situation.

They make you call them to confirm your order, or so they say. When you call they give you the run around about your product being out of stock, or the product you ordered was not the US model, so they offer you the real product for the real price; in my case it was the canon eos 20d for $889 (with an 18-55mm lens), then they tried to sell it to my for $1449 (body only).

I highly recommend avoiding this site at all costs.

"This a "BIG SCAM"!!! They get you to place an order by offering low prices then send you an e-mail to "confirm order" where they tell you all the things that don't come with the camera. They are rude, their customer service is not existant and I advise anyone who has dealt with they to keep an eye on your bank account. "watch it close". They are trying to steal from YOU!!!
Pleas help put crooked companies like this out of business and report them to the Better Business Bureau immediately.

"I placed an order via their web site yesterday, and then I got an email from their customer service today regards that I need to call the customer service in order for them to proceed and process my order. Guess what happen to my order----they posted the wrong prices on their site, and instead of making any apology to me, their customer service questioned me how I going to operate the camera and also told me lies about the digital camera didn't come with the charger/battery, and I need to buy the kit. I said I only want the camera not the kit, then he said their only have kit in stock, and said that I was wasting his time on the phone, and then he cancelled my order. I don't know why A&M Photo World doing that if they never intended to ship. DON'T waste your time/money on them.

"I'd read everyone's posts here before purchasing from A&M PhotoWorld ... yet I made the decision to purchase anyway keeping an optimistic attitude but expecting the worst.

Sure enough, I got the email about calling customer service. They first tried to upsell me the battery, then it was the non-US version of the camera lines though it was NOT stated anywhere on the page where you purchase the camera, then it's going to be 3-4 weeks to ship, etc. I did try to educate the person I spoke w/ about the FTC's definition of deceptive advertising and was blown off (oh they know so much more than me about it ... yeah ... law school graduates know nothing, you're right ...).

Unfortunately for them, I'm not your average customer and I can be a bit idealistic. After reading the reviews yesterday, I did some digging on deception policy. The FTC Act of 1983 specifically states that for deception in advertising to occur there has to be 1) a representation, OMISSION, or practice that is likely to mislead the customer. 2) the act or practice must be considered from the point of the reasonable consumer, and 3) the Representation, OMISSION, or practice must be MATERIAL.

Guess what, this fits all 3 requirements of deceptive advertising. At this point, I've told them to ship me what I purchased... They're saying it will be 3-4 weeks (because you chose Ground shipping ... they can't ground ship from Japan ... come on, give me a break) and I've told them that's fine. If they refuse to sell the item to me or the item is NOT the US version of it, I'm going after them with formal complaints to the FTC, the Attorney General, and whomever else I can file suit with. At least in my case, it will be much more cost effective to send me the unit they advertised, but the choice is up to them.

"This store listts the Sony DCR DVD301 for $429.00
I called the store to ask wether this was the US version and if it came with the accesories, the person answering the phone said the price for the camera was $649.00 and not $429.00 as it was listed on the website. he rudely suggested I check the website again which I did later that day. the listed price now was $649.00. I checked the site today and the camera is again listed for $429.00.
seems to me these people are playing games and giving potential customers a hard time in the process.

"Like many others, I placed an order and was literally treated like dirt when I called to "verify" my order. I too was told that the cameral was not US made and that it wouldn't work without a battery that increased my cost by over $200. I attempted to buy the Canon Powershot G6. I called several times throughout a three week period and got hung up on at least four times, asked to buy additional equipment three times and finally learned that the system had cancelled my order for me. :)
There is a special place for folks who consistantly are not honest in their dealings. In due time, each of these salespersons and customer specialists will have to answer to their actions, just like I will some day answer to mine.
I pray that this company, its owners and employees will one day soon be convicted of their own misdealings. I am not alone in reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau, Canon and Dateline.

"I will definitely NOT order from this company ever again. I was very disappointed with the sales method. They basically scam you into buying from them. They misrepresent their product on their web site and then try to over charge you for it. If you ask to cancel your order they tell you that they’ll bill you a $50 cancellation fee. I feel like I was scammed."

"Placed an order for a camera online. Was emailed saying couldn't process order. Called to ask what the problem was. Was rudely told I was an idiot if I didn't order battery and mem card for very high price. Told them I wanted the camera as ordered. Was then told that the camera non-usa camera with japanese menu. I told him I will take it anyway. Was then told 4-5 weeks to ship and he hung up. I got the feeling I would never see this camera. Well it has been 5 weeks. I emailed them to check on the status. They sent an email back saying they couldn't determine the status and that I should call in. I did and was treated rudely and was told it would be another 4-5 weeks. I asked for the persons name and he hung up. I called back and tried to get an answer from someone else who also wouldn't tell me his name and hung up on me.

Apparently not a real business. I don't know why the State of NY allows these places to call themselves a business. It gives a bad name to all of the decent camera businesses in NY.

"I ordered a camera by phone to ensure that it was in stock and would be shipped immediately. After two days and no order confirmation by e-mail I first checked my credit card statement and found no billings. I took five attempts by phone and over an hour on hold or being passed from one extension to another to talk to Eric. I was informed that the camera was on back order and it would be shipped in the next week or two. I cancelled the order.

Shortly after, I received an e-mail reply confirming cancellation and the statement “If any charges have been posted to your account and your order has not been shipped, please allow 24 to 72 hours and all charges will be fully refunded.” This seemed curious since A&M Photo World didn’t have any cameras in stock.

Concerned, I checked my online credit card statement. Sure enough, A&M Photo World had billed by credit card for the camera and shipping after the order was cancelled. A&M Photo World gets to use my money to earn interest on charges for which I have to pay interest for something I never received and A&M Photo World never intended to ship. The money has not been credited back to my account yet.

This text was sent to A&M Photo World with a request for a response. No respone has been received.

"Believe me, take my word on this; do NOT shop from this merchant, Ever. I’m a hard-core web-shopper and I haven’t seen an awful customer service like this online store. I ordered a 32-inch Philips LCD TV and they sent me an Email to call and confirm my order I have been put on hold over 30 minutes every day; not to mention the voice messages that I have been directed to EVERY SINGLE time. Honestly, I would rather pay $500 more and shop somewhere else than this crappy store. Also, when someone finally picks up the phone, all he knows to say is “What is Your Order #?” and he puts me through a voicemail. I ended up closing my Credit Card account in case those people decide to charge me later; You never know."
