"Well, it looks like I was saved. This 'company' is a scam-fest. I was taken in by a low price found on Froogle for a Canon EOS Rebel. I ordered it, and of course I received an email 'call to confirm your order.' The guy was nice...like a snake! He told me the camera didn't come with a battery (lie) and that I'd have to buy it plus a charger for $199!. There was other items he pressured me on, but I resisted. I ended up with a total of almost $1,000 bucks and originally I was going to pay less than $500. I immediately checked online about these guys, and cancelled my order. I ever went so far as to put a hold on my card because I was pretty sure they were going to try and process the purchase anyway. I did receive a call back and an email confirming my cancellation, though.
Don't be taken in by the low prices. Go to a reputable dealer instead!"
"I used the web to order. They directed me to call their 800 number. When I did, I was hard sold a lot of extra items which were (I discovered later) astronomically overpriced. When I received my shipment, the higher price was listed, but none of the extra items were in the box or on the invoice. When I called (immediately) they told me they would send them right out. 8 days later, I called again asking where the items were, and the guy on the phone said "what extra items" - and refused to send the 6 extra pieces of equipment. He also said I could no longer return the equipment because the window had closed. He insisted too that the battery that was sent with the camera was of the high capacity type. However when I searched on the part number, I found that it was not. I was also upset to discover that he "upsold" me on items that were ALREADY INCLUDED WITH THE CAMERA BY THE MANUFACTURER. BE WARE OF THIS COMPANY!!
I have contacted the BBB, the FTC, the NY State Attorney General's Office, my credit card company, and am filing a small claims suit against them tomorrow. Tonight I am going to every possible review site to slam this horrid business. DON'T THINK IT WON'T HAPPEN TO YOU!!!!"
"These are clearly criminals with no conscience whose goal in life is to deceive and cheat people out of money. Please, somebody figure out a way to criminally prosecute these people for fraud.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE LOW-LIFES!"
"I recently ordered a camera from them online (a FujiFilm S5100) and recieved an email the next day saying they had to "verify" the order before they shipped it out. I tried to get in contact with them to do just that, but no one answered the phone or replied my emails.
After spending 3 days trying to get in contact with them, I got fed up and cancelled the order through my last and final email with them. One week AFTER I had ordered the camera, I finally recieved a phone call from them. NOW they wanted to verify my order! The guy said they charged my account (eventhough they never did) and called to verify the shipping address. That's when I told them I credit card was never charged and that I had cancelled the order due to their failure at responding to my phone calls and emails. The guy got into a hissy fit and made a childish, sarcastic comment about my email address saying, "So you're the LatinMessiah....is that what you call yourself?" He also asked if I had ordered from someone else. I lied (since I figured this was the language he was speaking) and said I ordered the same camera from Amazon for $300 and that made the guy even more irritated. He finally said, "I'm not going to charge you the 5% cancellation fee since you got ripped off by Amazon" and hung up in my face.
5 minutes later, I recieved an email confirming my cancelled order and that no charges were made to my credit card. What a bunch of losers over at A&M PhotoWorld! I hope I see them on 20/20 or NightLine someday, those spineless frauds."
"Beware the tactics employed by this reseller!! I ordered a Kodak Z740 digital camera bundle for $384 from A&M Photo World last Thursday. The order number was 27437126. They asked that I call them to confirm the order, which I did. They then proceeded to try to strong-arm me into buying a $90 battery charger I did not want. When I refused, they then told me that the camera I had ordered was the Japan version that had no US warranty. When I asked for the US version, they told me that price would be $459. This was not disclosed on their web site and they only show one Kodak Z740 digital camera bundle on their site! I cancelled the order. These tactics are despicable and misleading. Do not patronize them. I am now very suspicious of the diduprice.com web site, as well, which directed me to them. "
"I ordered a Monolta Dimage Z1 offered 'IN STOCK' for $169 using a 'free shiping on your next order'. My neighbors call this a 'bait and switch'. I got a sales call 9 days later trying to get me to buy camera accessories and then was told I could not have what I ordered, I had to take the 'delux' version (better batteries?)for $20 more. Then I got the camera (15 days after ordering) and found I had been charged for shiping. I was charged $199.98 for my $169 order. I have ordered many things on line but this is the first time I have gotten ripped off. I am VERY angry. This is the last time I will ever buy from these crooked dealers. Don't bother emailing the 'customer service', I got an email back days later informing me this was just the 'email depertment' and he could not pass on comments to anyone in the company."
"I ordered a camera which was a great deal. I was told a day later that it would be 2 1/2 weeks until the camera was in. Each time I would call customer service, I got a rep who was extreemly short and very interested in getting me off the line. I canceled the order and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told that it would take 45 minutes and I should call back Tuesday or Wednesday to file a complaint. This place is bad news."
"I'll never buy from them. Just imagine buying a car and then being charged additional money for engine or wheels. It's not worthy. Their prices on the website are misleading they will charge you more for camera batteries (that come anyway in the box). Buy from honest sellers."
"I recently bought a camera from A & M Photo World and it was the worst experience I ever had purchasing via the Internet. I ended up talking to 3 different people, each of which repeatedly lied to me about their policies and the products they were selling. I wish I had found this site before I ordered. What a nightmare."
"Dealing with your company has been one of my worst shopping experience on
the web.
I live in Alaska, and ordered a camera as a gift to be delivered to my son,
who lives in New York. The same day as I placed the order, I left on a trip
to South America. On arriving, I checked my email and found a message from
you asking me to call you on your 800 number. I assumed, correctly as it
turned out, that you needed to verify that the delivery to a different
address was legitimate. So far, so good. Everyone understands the need for
security measures.
For me, however, the verification call was a long distance overseas call
from Argentina, so I asked via email if there was some other way to verify.
Your support group responded by sending a non-800 number to call. I called
several times and tried to get the attention of the person answering so that
I wouldn't be put on hold. That turned out to be impossible, so I stayed on
hold and waited. I was finally connected to an agent, who listened to my
story, but not very well, because his response was that your company doesn't
accept foreign credit cards!
I explained once again that the only thing foreign about this transaction
was my current location - all cards and addresses were in the USA. He
seemed to understand the second time. He then said I'd have to notify my
credit card company of the different billing and delivery addresses. That
too, is standard practice, and I said I would.
All of this took quite a while, and my meter was ticking on the
international long-distance call, so I wanted to finish our business to
limit the cost of the call. But instead of confirming that the order was
set and would be shipped after my business with the credit card, he started
a pitch for an extended-life battery. I interrupted him and told him I
wasn't calling from South America to listen to a sales pitch!
His response was astonishing. He said, "You have a bad attitude. I'm
cancelling this order." And he did.
I'm sure you record these calls. I'm asking you to play this one for
someone at the executive level of your management to hear what was easily
the rudest experience I've ever had on a web transaction. It would be good
to think that this person would be encouraged to find work in some other
field more suited to his talents than customer communications.
I will wait 48 hours for a response. After that time I intend to post this
information as a vendor review on all the major boards.
Thank you for your attention."
"Typical bait and switch. i tried purchasing the Sony dcr-hc90 from the site at an incredible price. i get the "notorious" email asking me to call to confirm the order. took about 2 hours to reach someone to confirm the order. the rep "jim" asks me if i want to purchase a battery and charger for an additional $399. when i mentioned that these accessories always come with a manufacturer packaged product, he tells me not in this case. i inform him i will pass and get the battery on my own. he then tells me this camera will not work properly in the US because it is an overseas model and the charger and battery must be purchased. so for $444 (camera) and $399(battery and charger) i was looking at a total of $843, a substantial increase for a camera that supposedly isnt a US model. needless to say i cancelled the order. as an FYI the US model can be purchased at reputable etailers for about 699 and up. BUYERS BEWARE of this merchant."
"This entire operation is a scam. The employees, Andy, Richard, and Kenny, are jokes. They may be one in the same, who knows, and the whole experience of dealing with them would be comical if it weren't for the fact that they are cheating a lot of people out of a lot of money. Then, the sad part, is the fact that they add insult to injury by cowardly trying to put you off after you realize "something just ain't right." I'm not sure what else I can do. I have contacted Nikon Corporation, but they said there really isn't much they could do since they are not an authorized dealer. They did say I could contact my CC company and put a back-charge against them, which is probably my next step. Perhaps the Better Business Bureau? SOMETHING needs to be done about this scam!!!"
"This company shocks me. I would never, ever do business with them again. I think they're unscrupulous and underhanded. They advertised a very low price, so I purchased what seemed like a great deal on a camera. I get an email the next day stating they needed to verify my order and I must call. So I call, and it's just a hard sell to buy over-priced add-ons (in one case twice the MSRP!), and I, of course, refuse. When asked, the guy said my camera would ship next week. The next week rolls around and I don't see a camera, or even an email with a tracking number, so I write several inquiry emails, which are answered two days later with a canned email saying they can't tell me via email, and that I must call. I call more than a dozen times, enduring hang-ups and voicemail, before I speak to someone today that tells me my camera is on back order. He further tells me that I ordered the international version, with non-English manuals, and it must be shipped from overseas. The web site said nothing of the sort, and still doesn't. And then he said, for $50 more they can send the US version today. I don't know whether this meets the requirements of outright fraud, but I am very unhappy with this company's business practices, and highly recommend they be avoided at any cost."
"My experience is exactly the same as all mentioned. I strongly encourage anyone who has dealt with the scam to file a complaint at either of the following:
http://www.ftc.gov/
http://www.bbb.org/
As one reviewer mentioned the scammers said "you don't think i've covered my a--?", but hopefully with SO many complaints we get can these guys/guy put out of business.
I also have since cancelled my credit card, and encourage others to do so, to prevent these people from taking advantage; they are just too suspicious. This was a very annoying hassle, and a shame.
Horrible service. Rude personnel handling order verification. They badgered me to buy add ons I didn't want, informed me that my purchase was actually 1/2 of what I expected, then hung up on me before I could clarify anything. E-mailed customer support with no response ever. "
"These guys sent me an email telling me I had to confirm my order to finalize it. Then they tried to power-sell me a whole bunch of extras. I agreed to buy a battery, but then remembered the camera as advertised was supposed to include a battery.
I called them back saying I didnt want the battery, but was then told the model I'd just bought 5 minutes ago was now "no longer available." I had to buy the US model - which was $100 more than what was advertised. They certainly did not inform me of that the first time I called - 5 minutes previous.
Needless to say I cancelled my order. Just hope my credit card isnt billed.
These people are VERY BAD. They totally and shamelessly misrepresented their product. DO NOT BUY FROM AMPHOTOWORLD."
