An insurance that promises to work anywhere should know that multiple administrations abroad will have different standards in reporting expenses. But this is a very convenient excuse not to pay my refund. So, another insurance that only walks with your money. Will never use again."
"I got Covid in Scotland. So I contacted GeoBlue. After going through an interminable registration process, sometime around 5 pm I submitted a request to talk to a doctor. They answered someone would call me between 6 pm and 9 pm. A doctor called about 7 pm, half an hour later he told me to call 111 to schedule an exam that evening or 999 if my condition worsened and I needed to go to emergency care. I dialed 111 and the call did not go through. Apparently you can’t contact 111 from within the UK with an American cell phone. I tried many number options—+01144111, 0114111, 44111 (which is what a customer service rep had told me to call), and others. None worked. So I called customer service, as I mentioned, and he told me to dial +44111. I told him to call me in 10 minutes in case the call didn’t go through. The call did not go through, he did call me, but he had nothing else to offer and when the call dropped I gave up on him. So I called the Geoblue 24/7 medical assistance number +1 (610) 2545-8771. The woman on the phone was no help at all. All I wanted was to know how to contact 111 from within the UK with a US phone. Surely, I said to her, I’m not the first to ask this question. She put me on hold for several minutes and when she came back on the line she told me to go to any other healthcare provider. Like I’m going to know who the St. Andrews healthcare providers are at 8 pm on a Thursday night. I told her that their own firm, the Teledoc firm that GeoBlue connected me with in order to speak to a doctor, had told me to dial 111. She said that Teledoc is a separate firm, not affiliated with GeoBlue. I told her GeoBlue needed to get their act together and she hurried to end the call. I submitted another request to Teledoc to speak with a doctor and they gave me Saturday between 6 am and 9 am. I also sent a couple of form messages to Teledoc asking for instructions about how to dial 111. Someone did call me the next day and advised I buy a couple of over the counter remedies at a pharmacy. I'll evaluate alternatives to GeoBlue the next time travel outside the US, which will be later this year. "
