Upon arrival of the mailbox I learned the difference between "pole mounted" and a mailbox to be mounted on a 3" wide pole extension (extension being wider than the 2 1/2" wide bolt pattern at the bottom of the mailbox. I purchased some carriage bolts and designed a double platform base to accommodate the attachment to the 3" wide pole extension and all went well."
