Purschase of Visio 2013 Professional for a new Win 11 computer
"Installation of Visio 2013 Professional would not get past 1st base to install on a new Dell Optiplex SFF 7010 business Windows 11 computer.
There were very techno cryptic messages as to the problem that clearly did not come out and say WHY. Same old BS from my favorite company Microsoft that goes to great lengths to insulate themselves from everyday customer and it is totally absorbed with changing apps, rewriting and rewriting, and endless fiddling this and that to semi chaos (with friends like that who need enemies – I mean really). Major business and large institutions are the main MS customers. Small business and individuals have to fend for themselves. After a LOT of time writing queries to the web I finally found out (what I believe?) the installation barrier was.
Setting up my new Win 11 computer I had installed my preferred "great" interface Office 2010 Word and Excel right off the bat. They worked fine. Either before or after that I installed and setup Office Outlook 2021 (I bought from you a couple years ago) to function for email. Yet I had compatibility questions about Visio 2013 which I sent to Softwarekeep that I never got answered.
After many days of Web queries I finally got to the bottom of my Visio 2013 questions (related to Visio being able to read files from Visio Technical Professional from Shapeware “vsd” files). So I then bought Visio 2013 from your company - and it would not install as I've described above.
The apparent cryptic issue is since Outlook 2021 had been installed on my machine then MS protocol code "mandates" that earlier versions of Office products (such as Visio 2013) cannot be installed or co-exist on the same machine. Bottom line - One must install from oldest and progressively to newest MS Office apps. The “wreaks” of MS "Teams" stuff which has no place in MY WORLD of computer use – and I’m a customer also. Nothing I do requires "teams". So my understanding is now I have to 1) uninstall Outlook 2021, then 2) install Visio 2013, then 3) reinstall Outlook 2021 - and hopefully after all that EXTRA WORK all these MS products will function correctly. I have not taken time to do this series of hoop jumps yet. Just how does the individual user know such things and avoid falling into what amounts to Microsoft traps designed to facilitate maximum sales to "Teams" customers loaded with their increasingly bloated code applications with overly complex interfaces that takes individuals like me mucho time to research with web searches.
Softwarekeep.com - PLEASE ADVISE IF THERE IS SOME OTHER WAY TO HANDLE THIS. My alternatives are to just keep my 2015 Dell Optiplex with Windows 10 and a fully functional Visio Technical Professional from Shapeware (with its clean, productive and well known interface) OR possibly consider installing Visio 2021 instead of Visio 2013 (IF….. Visio 2021 will absolutely read the legacy Visio "VSD" files.
