"[02/06/2022 - Edit: Just today discovered that this store has an "F" rating from the BBB.]
As others have noted, The Warming Store's s.o.p. is to keep schtum about the fact that the item that you want is out-of-stock, its aim being to keep ahold of your order regardless of how many months it takes to get in the merchandise. If you send it an inquiry about the delay in delivery, it will pretend that its failure to notify you is an oversight but that the item is expected in "7 to 10 business days", which is another way of saying, "In the sweet by and by." Telephone inquiries are routed to customer service reps in some foreign country (probably the Philippines) whose accents make them unintelligible. If one tries to use the "Chat" feature, it is always unavailable, even in the middle of the day. One has to open a "ticket" to get a responsive reply. If one places an order by telephone, one's credit card is charged upon ordering rather than upon shipment. Getting a refund takes "7 to 10 business days". (Again.) I haven't received mine yet.
Which makes one suspect that "The Warming Store" is a drop shipper with just enough inventory to pretend to be a legitimate store and a negligible physical presence beyond its attractive website and a contract with a Philippine order processor.
Don't waste your time."
"I clicked the "Place Your Order" link and a notice popped up that that item was currently available. I chatted with customer service as to whether that was the size or the entire range of sizes in that item that was unavailable. The outcome after a l-o-n-g conversation was that he didn't know and couldn't find out. It was obvious that he wanted to get rid of me and that wish was made explicit when he plumped a canned, "We are so sorry ... etc. ", generic apology in the middle of an exchange. He suggested, among other things, clearing my cache and using another browser. When he asked what the specific language of the pop-up notice was I went back and re-entered the order in order to trigger it. To my surprise, THIS TIME the order went through. When I told him that he immediately replied with another canned, "Thank you for your order", and disconnected.
I am not counting on receiving it."
Good Price - - - Poorly designed and manufatured frames
"All of the eyeglasses that I have ordered from Zenni over the years have been properly ground but some of the frames have been dreadful. Recently I order two pairs of eyeglasses both with Frame #156714 (Round Glasses) in which it turned out that Zenni connects the two pieces of each arm by having the rear part slip into the front part as in a sleeve, held together by friction. There is no permanent weld. The upshot is that the rear arm part with the earpiece slips out of the sleeve of the front part and falls off, particularly if one wears eyeglass retainers. I have had similar problems with other Zenni frames including paint wearing off an arm within weeks and an arm snapping at a careless weld. Nevertheless, the fact that Zennis are so stunningly inexpensive compared to locally bought eyeglasses still makes patronizing it worthwhile. One must simply accustom oneself to the realization that the lifespan of one's eyeglasses may be capriciously short."
"I recently received an order for green safety checks from Bradford Exchange that are dreadful. First, the printer over-inked the press so that the color is dark and bilious and the printed text is crude rather than sharp- - - not at all what is represented on the Bradford Exchange website. Secondly, Bradford Exchange changed the design of the checks to make the border coarser and - - - incredibly - - - it placed an ADVERTISEMENT FOR ITSELF at the bottom of each check!
I had purchased blue safety checks from Bradford in 2014 which were fine and it was on the basis of this experience that I made my latest purchase. When I pointed out the deficiencies of the latest checks to Bradford it denied the color variation and said that the design changes were shown on the check images that appear on the website. (True, I should have looked more closely.)
They graciously offered to sell me a new batch of checks. I replied that the next time that I want ugly, sloppy, poorly printed checks that advertise the company that printed them on their face I will return to their shop.
[Edit (Dec. 26, 2017) Found out that the Bradford Exchange Checks for which I paid $10.44 (because of their deceptive "service charge") are available (properly colored and printed and DEVOID of advertisement) from any of their competitors for $6.50 delivered.]
Save yourself time and aggravation. Instead of sending your money to Bradford Exchange, just throw it out the window."
"The merchandise that I ordered was of acceptable quality and price and arrived within a reasonable time.
However, Big Hat Store didn't acknowledge my order (although it did debit my credit card), leading me to try to contact it to assure that the order had been properly booked. For a week, I did so by telephone and email to no effect (despite Big Hat Store's stated policy of customer service response.) Additionally, Big Hat Store never emailed me a tracking number (as it claims it does on dispatch) leading me to wonder if it was still in business. I finally contacted the Troy, MI Chamber of Commerce where it is located to try to find out if it was defunct.
I have never before been so totally blown off by a vendor."
