"Quick reply to question, but disappointing automated email system. Despite all the emails, I wasn't informed of a backorder until receiving the first part of the order. Although additional S&H wasn't charged, it was annoying to be precharged the full order amount."
"Shipping:
Apparently they had some kind of unknown mistake before the UPS pick-up. So shipping was delayed for a day after they said the order shipped.
The order:
Two ATX Power Supplies weighing 4.0 lbs each
Packaging:
put each in a clear small bubble wrap bag,
roll large bubble wrap around it without overlapping,
stuff in small box"
"Backend for web storefront is minimal. So no order confirmation. Shipping information is provided manually by email.
Parts photos are generic, but help indentify infrequently used items. Like Ace Hardware's fasteners bins.
Low prices. Decent selection, but is manufaturer specific. Drop shipments from the manufacturer can be insanely fast--48hrs to less than 24hrs from TN to CA (SF)?!."
"At least you can buy direct from the manufacturer...
Poor / no inventory information. Minimalistic information available once order is placed. Either no follow-up if backordered, or slow order processing."
"* reseller/manufacturer of odd storage interface items
* currently eSATA, SATA 3.0Gbps, Port Multiplier, drive Encryption,
They should be viewed more for their selection of odd-ball storage components other manufacturers don't offer, or which don't work. Chip selection on their boards tends to favor more reliable IC designs, but are still consumer grade.
Technical answers beyond those typical of consumers are generally answered, but detailed...engineering / hacking questions are not."
"CONS
* Note this address and beware:
An InterWorld Highway LLC Company
205 Westwood Ave
Long Branch NJ 07740
* no order confirmation
* no order tracking
* follow their website's instructions, and they still don't send it to you
* email contact is difficult
* phone contacts do not want to talk to you
* they may offer to return your call with more information
* they may actually call you...some of the times
* inventory status is not available
* their data of availability estimates are not when they can actually ship to you
* returns require a credit of the defective from the manufacturer--this can take weeks or months
* they think shipping UPS Ground from NY to CA apparently takes only 3-days
* the customer is wrong
PROS
* the prices are very low
* their item description pages are good to use for research when buying elsewhere"
"They seem to use zone skipping with too few sites in my area--so no usable tracking, and a long ship time. But they did ship the same business day the order was received."
"* They state (in their shipping terms) a part of the order can be cancelled if there is no availability.
* no inventory information available
* lowest, or very low prices for most items
* a free monthly print catalog is a good supplement for those who prefer paper over computer, like me
* free shipping if order over 100$ IFF you remember to "check" the free shipping box
* fee for small orders, none IFF you remember to "check" the no free box
* they're easier to contact via web chat / live support than by phone"
"To take advantage of a xmas quick ship option (overnight for free), I ordered two cheaper walkmans. They both shipped in a bubble envelope... No apparent damages, yay."
"Yahoo powered store front does not have useful inventory tracking. Items bought appear to be in stock, and shipped but... When you get the shipment it shows on the packing slip that items are back ordered, etc."
"Logistics follow other top internet storefronts--i.e. streamlined order processing, and shipping.
Since prices were either slightly higher, or the same as others, the only reason to buy from them is if they have parts not offered elsewhere--like their parent company."
"I tried Crucial/Micron 12/2000 expecting a while before having issues. The memory finally went bad, and I got to experience Crucial's reputedly great support first hand.
RMA was absurdly hard to reach. Ignoring the same "form" E-mail I received repeatedly, I used the live chat. I was told they had "an unprecedented amount of e-mails," and should call instead. This was good advice, and the call went smoothly. Replacements were shipped 3-day.
The memory was in a small box, in an otherwise empty plastic UPS bag. Wow, when I sent the bad memory back UPS 3-day I packed 2 to 4 inches of antistatic foam around a smaller inner box. I also used Crucial's original inner box they sent to me, their foam, and antistatic bags. I'd like to think, and expected I would have been as diligent if I hadn't asked for cross shipment.
Another shock was the precharge of 406.70$ for the 512MiB of PC133 SDRAM since I had a 15% discount on the original order. They have already received, and I only await the crediting of the 406.70$. I hope they're in time for Thanksgiving."
