"TopTenReviews does its best to appear to be a legitimate review site, and has been online for over 12 years, however it is a scam. TopTenReviews is an affilitate for many of the products and services it recommends. That means that if you follow the link to the products website or order page from TopTenReviews and end up purchasing the product, TopTenReviews makes a percentage of the sale. For the most part, the reviews they publish are not honest unbiased reviews. Instead they give the highest ratings to the products that they earn the most money from, while avoiding reviewing products they can earn no money from. A good example of this, is that it is very rare for them to review free products, since they make no money from promoting them. For example, if there an antivirus with both free and paid versions, they will only review the paid version, ignoring the free version. Typically, for most users, the free version will provide all the protection they need. However, since TopTenReviews can't make money from free software, they won't even mention the free version.
Another example, is that they give different ratings to several driver update programs, which were just rebadged versions of the same program. If the reviews were legitimate they would have all received the same rating. After, I most a post online pointing this out, they removed the reviews for the clones of Advanced Driver Updater. However, they still recommend the software Driver Checker, which has not been updated for over three yearsm and as a result will not find any driver updates released after 2012.
For further evidence that TopTenReviews is a scam, you only need to Google toptenreviews scam."
"I purchased a DJ Controller from Value Basket's Australia website a month ago. Seven days after placing the order, I logged into my account to see if there was a tracking number for the order.
When I logged in there a message Order Held for my order with no further explanation. I filed a support ticked to find out exactly what was going on, and received the following reply: "In regards to your order, we are still suffering from backlogs due to influx of sales from our latest promotions and we are doing our best to dispatch all orders as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we are still unable to give an estimated dispatch date at the moment."
I then phoned Value Basket, and there were not able to give me any idea as to when the order would be shipped. I was tempted to cancel the order, but decided to wait, just in case the order was going to be shipped in the next few days.
In the end, I did receive my order, but it took exactly four weeks to arrive - not the 5 business days that was stated on the website. The item was actually shipped from Hong Kong, but with express shipping did not take long to arrive to Australia, but - it took 3 and a half weeks for the item to be shipped.
Due to the atrocius cusotmer service, this will be my first and last purchase from Value Basket. If I had looked at the ratings here and at Scam Advisor first I would have not purchased from them.
Edit: Value Basket did not even read my review before replying!"
"Yesterday I ordered a notebook computer, monitor and printer and some accessories from Newegg. However there were not enough funds on the credit card I used to pay for the purchase and I received an email to let me know that the order could not be processed.
At this point I thought I would simply be able to provide a different credit card and go ahead with the order.
Surprisingly this was not possible, as Newegg does not allow for payment with a foreign credit card. I emailed customer support to see what I could do about this, but rather than providing any assistance, they simply told me there was nothing that they could do as they don't accept payments with foreign credit cards.
I live in Australia, but the company I work for has offices in America too, which is where the non US credit card comes in.
I am both surprised and disappointed about the unwillingness to help me - particularly considering the high rating Newegg.com has here at Reseller Ratings.
The end result is that Newegg has lost a $1,600+ sale, as well as repeat business as I will never purchase from them again. I will be advising others to do the same."
