We do everything we can to prevent the expiration of domain names. We offer auto-renew on all domains and send multiple email reminders to our customers. The restoration fee is standard across the industry: https://help.hover.com/hc/en-us/articles/217281557-How-to-Recover-domain-names-in-redemption-at-other-registrars. If you let your domain expire, you can still recover it by paying the restoration fee which you decided not to do.

The reason for this is that you never paid for your .app pre-order.
How pre-orders work is that you register a free pre-order domain, once the launch schedule for the domain is released you need to pay for your pre-order so that when the domain hits general availability we can attempt to register it for you. If we are unable to register your pre-order domain because it was already taken in the trademark holder Sunrise Phase or the early access Landrush Phase, you are refunded 100% of what you paid.
We sent you several emails requesting payment for your .app domain pre-order and warned you that if you did not pay we would not attempt to register your domain.
We see that you have a few .you pre-orders in your account. Once the schedule for .you is released we will email you to pay for your pre-orders. We have a really great success rate of securing pre-order domains once they hit during general availability and we want you to be a part of getting your perfect name. Please be sure to pay in the future so this does not happen again.

We apologize for this unfortunate situation. The standard price of the domain you ordered was mistakenly quoted to us by the Registry who owns the .company domain, when it is actually a premium domain. Premium names are priced higher because they are considered to be more valuable.
We were informed this by the Registry when we went to register the domain for you. The charge you were asked by our support team to pay in addition to what you already paid was not a fee but the difference in price for the premium domain.
We try to be very transparent about our pricing and do not charge unnecessary fees. If you change your mind about the domain name we would be more than happy to register it for you.
