"The fata problem I have with the 47stphoto is their poor service attitude of their exchange/refund center.
I bought a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens and found the product badly front focus, which is a well-known qc problem of the lens. I called the 47photo's exchange/refund phone number and asked for exchange. The lady who talked to me simply looked down my request and murmured that their center had never heard of this problem before. Which is of course a lie. Every Sigma user knows the problem of this lens and many of them have done a lot of exchanges with their resellers regarding this lens."
"THIS IS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY! THE RUDEST BUNCH I'VE EVER DEALT WITH. SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION.
I placed an order over the phone to make sure that they had it in stock and could get it to me in two days ( I needed for the trip). Didn't get the item on time, actually I came back from the trip, and it was still not there. Called the company, been transfered around 5 times, from one rude person to another. Nobody apologized or told me anything what was going on, just told me to hold and bounced me to another person. I finally told someone that I wanted to cancel the order, they said "OK" and hang up on me. I called back to find out if I was going to get my payment back. First person on the phone said "It's you again..." Huh?! Finally after another three transfers, someone told me that they item should be delivered today (Jan. 8th, when I paid Second Day Air to have it here on the 2nd). I've asked to be reimbursed for the shipping (which I believe they should have offered themselves), they guy said OK (again, not a word of apology). I have a feeling I won't see those money :-(
With all of those good businesses out there who really care about their clients, should we really take that kind of treatment?!
Save yourselves this aggravation and deal with a PROFESSIONAL company."
"I purchased a Sigma 10-20mm lens for my Canon Digital Rebel XT camera. 47th Street's price was very low and their shipping ($9) was reasonable, unlike most eBay sellers who charge $25-30 shipping. The item was shipped immediately, properly packed and the item was as described (new, official US import w/4 yr warrantee etc.)."
"I bought a Sigma 300mm f/2.8 from them. The order was put in by Sigma, not myself, as they worked with me to get me the lens and put the deal together with me; and wanted to drop ship it to me. 47th had a great price on it (I see now either Sigma had a price increase, or 47th mixed up the price with the zoom, and the zoom is now the price of my prime, and the prime is the same price as everywere else!)
Sigma couldn't sell directly and said I had to go through a retailer. Sigma had said it would be possible for me to buy it from the retailer THEY set the sale up with and ship it to any address (ok with them at least). However even give that, 47th St Photo refused to execute the order unless it was also shipped to my home address where my credit card is billed to. And would ONLY ship with in-person signature required. I really HATE retailers that do that, and i would have walked away if it wasn't the price, and that I'd finally get the lens I needed, just days before leaving for Africa. So I dealt with it.
Minus that pain the arse aspect of 47th's unwavering policy, all was good otherwise."
"I ordered a battery grip for a Canon 20D. The 1st one was DOA but they replaced it ASAP."
"Very unhappy with my purchasing. Store lost my order and item. The manager was very rude. They would not overnight the order when the found it. Very very bad experiences. Do not buy from them on-line"
"Ordered a battery grip and some batteries for my camera. The order was packaged and shipped promptly. The correct items arrived and were in fine working order. No complaints."
"Excellent service. always shipping in the same day. I am ordernig them through amazon.com"
"After great hesitation due to the significant negative feedback I saw regarding this seller (multiple reviewing sites), I took the gamble and ordered my camera lens via Amazon.
Since I never contacted 47th St. directly, either by phone or e-mail, I cannot review their customer service. Although, I would always recommend calling a seller instead of e-mails if there is a problem.
I was pleased with the e-mail notifications that I recieved as to the status of my order (total of 4 or 5). It would have been nice if my order had shipped the same day, but it as it was, it arrived 3 business days later with expedited shipping.
The package was a little damp, but that's not the fault of the seller, rather the FedEx truck had a bit of a roof leak. The item was in perfect condition and worked great.
Overall, pleased with the purchase."
"Order the Sigma 105mm ex dg macro for PENTAX from them as they were the only company that had one (though sigma4less claims the have it now, also). As with many Pentax products, hard to find. I order via Amazon.
I received the lens within 2 days though I did not pay for such shipping. Frankly, I was surprised when it arrived so soon as I certainly was not expecting it.
Lens came with warranty card number matching lens number. Works fine on K10D camera thus far.
My first time buying with 47st. Photo. I got the product I wanted, and at a good price. And, I am glad they had it as I wonder if Sigma will continue to manufacture Pentax products.
My only suggestion would be if they were a tad more 'bubbly' when one spoke with them. It makes a customer feel more comfortable in their dealings.

"Ordered a product from this company - placed the order for 2nd day air - and received an email from UPS stating that it was sent UPS ground. When calling them to ask them about this - the representative confirmed that this was the case, and that there was nothing she could do about it. Finally a supervisor agreed to have the original shipment turned around and ship out another one next day air to me.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he keeps his word - and will be more than happy with them if they do."
"I had made a purchase on June 3, 2007. I had waited 3 business days and did not receive a email confirmation stating that the item I purchased has been shipped, so I decided to call in to check the status. Good thing I did b/c the item was stuck at "IN PROCESS". I think if you ever order from their online site, you'll have to call in to make sure that someone actually ships the item. First time I called in, I spoke to Janet. She told me that the item will be shipped out by the end of the workday and I will receive an email confirmation with tracking number. I waited until 5:00PM and did not see anything, so I decided to call in again. This time Janet picked up the phone again and said she will go and check on it. I waited 7 minutes and did not hear anything back from her. Then a guy by the name of Chase answered the phone. He was very nice and went to check the status of my order. 3 minutes later on hold, he told me item is going to be shipped today (which was Wed when I called) and he said it will be in my hands by Friday. It sure did! It actually arrived Thursday. I was quite shocked on how fast the shipping was. I am satisfied with the purchase, but got a little scared after reading all the bad reviews. I guess you just have to call in to make sure it gets shipped. As of today, my order still says "IN PROCESS", even though it's been shipped. I've also ordered from their ebay store, which was really good. But I agree with everyone else... I don't think they're operating their online site as well as their ebay site. But my item did arrive in good shape and it was the right product. "
"Ordered Sigma 10-20 through ebay.
Transaction was smooth.
Received my item in 5 days just as I expected.
Lens had a small scratch on the front glass.
But I am sure its Sigma's QC issue, not the 47st photo's.
I quickly called 47st and they kindly gave me a RA # so I returned it next day.
They sent me the replacement which was perfect.
I would deal with them again.
However, few things I really didn't like.
1. Do not send them an email. They will not respond whatsoever. It useless. Just call them. They will answer and they have pretty good customer service over the phone.
2. This lady in customer department was very rude. But other guys were really kind and helpful."
"Excellent Service. Can't say enough about thanking 47th Street Photo. I'm leaving for Europe in 2 days and I had ordered through another company (we'll call then New World Video for reference). They didn't send out my order, or inform me they were out of the item I wanted, so I messed around with them until I was running too close to call. I called 47th and they shipped it that day 1 day shipping and it was on my doorstep this afternoon. I am so happy I will be able to use the new lenses for my camera. I even called because they have two divisions the online which is where I found them through amazon and they matched the price of their online service even though it's not really the same company. Thank you so much for restoring my belief in online vendors."
"I was very leary when deciding to purchase from 47th street based on what I read here. But after careful research, I purchased a sigma 120-300 lens and filter from them. Not only did Sigma corporation vouch for 47th street but others on other websites have as well. My experience with them as has been exceptional. The sales guy (Ely) didn't push anything and they offered the best price with Sigma's warranty for this lens on the web! They guaranteed my lens would be received by Saturday (1 day on a Friday) and as of now, Saturday 05/19/2007, I have it. Product delivered, in exceptional condition. I will buy from them again!
