"Well, I was actually on hold with this company,checking on my order status, when I started reading reviews at this web site. I too,fell victim to this company. I refused to buy their overpriced accessories and sure enough after about 15 min on hold I finally talked to someone that told me my camera was on back order. I then told them to cancell my order and immediatly recived an order cancellation email.So we will see if my order really was cancelled"

I had the same experience as others described here where they contacted me and tried to sell the 20 minute battery scam or an extended warranty. When I refused and asked that they ship the product as is is I received an e-mail that it will be 3-4 weeks on back order. When I called to complain and ask how it went from "In Stock" to 3-4 weeks in the time it took to process my order the guy said that it must have sold out. When I pushed as to why they didn't notify me of that before I finalized my purchase he started giving BS that this is their inventory policy etc. He got really nasty when I started talking about unethical behaviour and eventually hung up on me.
I will now try to cancel my order and hope I don't need to cancel my credit card too."
"I ordered a JVC camcorder and received an email to contact customer service. They tried to sell me additional batteries saying the one that came with the camera was only good for 20 mins. When i declined they tried to sell me an extended warranty. I declined again and ask them to ship the unit as ordered.
A short time later, I received an email stating that the camera is no longer in stock and is backordered 3 - 4 weeks. Coincidence? I don't think so and cancelled the order.

"Like so many of the previous reviewers, I have nothing positive to report. After receiving an e-mail to confirm my order, I received another e-mail asking me to call a "Chris" under a certain phone number to "verify" my order. Chris then tried to sell me an overpriced SD Card and after I indicated that I already had the right memory card explained that the accu coming with the camera would only last 20 minutes and that I needed to buy an upgraded battery to actually be able to use the camera in real life situations. To make a long story short, their prices are a scam and their stories are fraud, and given all the reviews on this site, I'm really surprised that their are no authorities in the United States that close down this kind of fraudulent businesses."
"I ordered two Panasonic camcorders for Christmas gifts for my children in 2007. I received an email stating they were on backorder. I called customer service and I was informed that I was next on the list to receive these. Every couple weeks I would call and I was informed you will be receiving them. I started asking for the President and/or Manager and I would be placed on hold for a long time and then discounted. Customer service was very rude and lied to me. I was told in May of 08 that the camcorders were still on backorder. I told them unbelievable, I didn't know how any item could be on backorder for six months. Terrible, Terrible company! Words cannot describe how bad this company is."
"NEVER order from these people! I ordered a camera July 27th and received a mail confirming the order. Shortly after I received an email that at my request they were canceling my order. I emailed and said I never cancelled but no reply to that email. Instead I get another email asking me to call to verify my order with another order number # 571620-W. Then Jason called me last week and said they were mailing the camera out and tried to sell me more products. I declined. I called today and was told the camera was on back order. Jason then hung up on me when I told him this was not what he told me last week. I tried to log into my account and find I don't have an order although Jason said I did! Then I found this web page. Wish I had seen it before. This company is a scam! "

yes I also ordered from the scammers. I am in sales myself, but I do not adhere to that kind of business practice. I am a soft seller, If you don't want or need the services offered that's cool with me. I get paid by the hour not commission..
So as soon as "Sean" called me to tell me there was a problem with my order, I knew there was a problem with that company.
Sure enough.. Sean was trying to sell me things I knew I didn't need, I was replacing a camera so I was all set.
Sean was not pleased, when I said " Hey Sean, Look.. I'm in sales myself, I ain't buying your over priced, under rated, grey market crap!!! he didn't know how to deal with an educated sales consumer!!
We all know how it turned out.. Cancelled order as well a cancelled credit card.
My cancellation notice was in my email box before I even hung up the phone!!!
I have reported 86 Street Photo & Video to the BBB, FBI as well as the Attorney General and Consumers Affairs.
I know they will just reopen under another owner & store name.. But at least as consumers, we are trying to do the right thing."
"I placed an order with this business, but had not read any reviews. After reading these posts, I saw the same emails described by other customers. I was instructed to call and "confirm" my shipping address. I, instead, told the company to cancel my order. At that point, I was told that I could never order from the company again, and the representative hung up. I called back and spoke to another rep who confirmed the cancellation. Lesson learned - research the vendor first."
"Do not buy from this online store!! I ordered a panasonic camera from them at a price that was extremely good (to good to be true, of course) and then they called to verify the order and to try to sell me additional accessories. They told me the battery that comes with the camera only lasts 15 minutes and I told them I already had one of these cameras and the battery that comes with it is perfectly fine. When I declined the purchase of an extended life battery on the phone, I almost immediately received an email notifying me the camera was on a 3 to 4 week backorder. That time has period passed and now they are saying it is still on backorder for 5 more weeks. I don't think they ever intended to sell me the camera after I didn't fall for their "accessory scam." "

So I waited. A few days later I called to check on my order. After waiting on hold for about 10 minutes I spoke with the operator (I think), which then transferred to their sales department. After 10 more minutes on hold someone finally picked up. The sales staff tried to sell warranty. When I declined they said the camera is on back-order. I requested to have the order cancelled.
I then received three emails from them. Two stating the camera is on back-order and will be shipped when it becomes available (3-4 weeks), and one that says my order was cancelled and the card was not billed. I tried replying, but their address was not valid. I had to do some research and found their contact email address to be ****@****. If this were a legit company they wouldn't try to hide their identity and contacting them would be a lot easier.
I'll place an order with butterflyphoto.com and see how it goes. I ordered from them in the past and was pleased with their service. Yes, they tried to sell me warranty, but I declined. Everything was still fine though. I got the camera in its original US packaging, which included battery and charger."
"I was almost taken. I didn't do my homework before placing an order with this store. Like everybody else, I recieved an e-mail claiming I needed to call them with a missing item on the order (mine was a missing security code on my credit card). The operator told me my order was ready to ship and a tracking number will be e-mailed to me within the hour. Days later, no tracking number and no package. I called and sent numerous e-mails, but I couldn't contact anyone. At this point, the sick feeling I had about this company was getting worse,so I then did some research on this scam operation. I was disgusted with what I was reading and decided to cancel my order the next day before my credit card was charged. The next morning, the same story. Nobody would answer the phone or answer any e-mails for over an hour. I then e-mailed them with a cancellation request for my order with a warning I was contacting my credit card company and the NY BBB. Funny, within two minutes I had a return e-mail cancelling my order.
Bottom line, do your homework and the old moniker stands, if the deal looks to good, it's probably a scam!"
"The site said the product was in stock and two days later they called me to confrim the credit card. After checking the exp date the clerk asked me to purchase an accessory. They were a bit pushy about it as well. I explained that I did not need a charger, memory, or any other items as I was replacing a lost GPS. As soon as I asked when it would ship they hung up on me. A few minutes later I got an email that the item was on a long backorder. I called to cancel and after holding for a long time got someone who canceled my order. Not very professional and clearly they are making their money on off brand accessories so if you dont order them they try to get you to cancel. Not too ethical, save yourself the headache and steer clear."

WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF THIS PHONECALL I RECEIVED AN EMAIL STATING THAT IT WOULD BE ROUGHLY 3-4 WEEKS BEFORE THEY WOULD HAVE THE ITEM IN STOCK TO SHIP TO ME- ALSO PROVIDING A LINK TO CANCEL IF I WISHED TO DO SO.
