"Summary: 4.5/5 overall. They were very helpful but maybe I was unlucky and got a noisy unit.

Before the sale: I went with an ASUS G75 because of its reputation for quiet fans (important for my studying). Joseph and Vedran were really helpful with advice on their forums. Seeing that AVADirect has some good stuff on silentpcreview, I was hopeful!

Shipping: Styrofoam peanuts packed between the inner and outer boxes (at least for 4 out of 6 sides, I'm not sure why 2 sides were left unpadded). Still, everything came in great condition.

After the sale & RMA: Everything about the laptop was just amazing, except, however, a loose part rolling around inside and a buzzing tone whenever a fan spins. So after a week trying to get used to the sound, I contact Vedran and they take it back for inspection. They fix the loose part but deny hearing any noise. However, they do update BIOS and even agree to install for me some new fans that I bought, hoping to solve the buzzing.

Currently: It arrived back in similar packaging yesterday, including the spare fans. Upon power on, the screen had tiny vertical lines everywhere (or maybe a weird screen resolution), but after fiddling around it seemed to disappear. Whew. However, the buzzing tone is unfortunately still there.

I'd say AVADirect has done for me all that is fair to expect from a leading computer boutique. Since fan replacement didn't work, maybe the only thing left is a whole computer replacement, but that seems like asking too much.

Overall, great service, great knowledge, great website configurator variety, just an unlucky unit they got from ASUS. It happens."

"I was convinced that I wanted to build my own PC with
components that I researched and selected. In the end,
two factors led me to decide to have my new PC built
rather than build it myself. First, there was a
significant amount of comfort in knowing that the
machine would be fully tested before I received it. And
second, I found that the difference in overall cost
between a "build it myself" and a "have someone build
it" machine was not significant. Clearly, there was
some level of savings if I built it myself but given the DOA rate of some of the major quality components, it simply didn't seem worth it to me.

My next bit of research was on the vendors out there that were in the business of custom built PC's. I chose AVADirect for a number of reasons. First, they weren't focused solely on Gaming PC's. I needed a business desktop. Second, the component choices were incredible. Most of the components that I had selected for my own build were available in their configuration tool. Third, they have an excellent reputation and history. Finally, they were very quick to respond to my questions and they provided some input which led me to change some of my initial selections. The sales contact, Joseph Mundy, was instrumental in assisting me. It was clear based on his guidance that AVADirect was not "pushing" a build that went beyond what I needed. I was actually able to configure a machine which did not include a graphics card but used on-board video graphics capability.

Configuration was easy. The price was reasonable. The machine was ready well within the targeted timeframe. I was extremely impressed with the packaging of the machine. I arrived in pristine condition with all of the documentation and "spare parts" that came with the components (eg unused modular power supply connections). The first thing I did was open the machine and it was clear that they had taken great care in the wiring and overall build. The machine booted without incident and has met my expectations. I have had one question for their support and so far, they responded quickly. I cannot, at this point, comment further on technical support but I have no reason to believe that they will disappoint me.

Overall, this was a great decision and I'm pleased. I will be recommending AVADirect to my family and friends. "

"I really wanted to wait a bit before writing a review simply because I wanted to try and put the computer through my own paces before I actually said anything about it. And well, it does not disappoint. it is a spectacular machine that has been keeping up with everything I have been asking of it with out a moments hesitation. I have been playing high end games, watching movies and surfing the internet all at once. And no hiccups yet. I have also installed Adobe Photoshop CS3 and 3DsMax 2008 and had no trouble with rendering or massive canvas sizes.
So far have heard hardly anything from the system other than a small hum for the fans, and I didn't even buy one of the silenced systems.
Customer support was one of my best experiences of my entire life when it comes to customer support. Anything that seemed to "happen" while assembling it, they both informed me and then wasted no time finding a solution to the issues. The SSD I selected was out of stock, and instead of ordering a new one and adding more wait time, they upgraded me to a slightly better drive they had in stock at no extra charge.

Everything was shipped quickly and was completely intact upon arrival.

These guys are pretty awesome, and I intend to continue to use them in the future for other builds and parts.

"This company is excellent. They take a modest profit after the cost of parts, but they assemble & ship the computer fantastically well. When I ordered my machine, I considered building it myself to save $200+. However, when I received the machine and saw the care and skill with which they assembled it, I felt that the extra cost was well worth it. If you're like me & are considering the possible benefits of a "botique" shop versus Dell or HP, et al, I'd strongly recommend these people.

My experience was that I had to wait several weeks to receive my machine. I knew this from other reviews, so it was ok. But, I'd have preferred to receive it a little faster.

A+ Hardware: All hardware was installed and seated perfectly!
A+ Software: OS installed with no bloatware. Drivers installed in a folder on the desktop. Performance/benchmarks installed in a folder on the desktop.
A+ Packaging: Computer shipped with tight packaging. All extra parts, manuals shipped with PC.

I've bought computers from almost all of the major manufacturers and I can honestly say this is the best setup going on the market for the money. Could I build this box myself and save a few $$? "First, let me say that AVADirect is a fabulous company to do business with. They are very professional and easy to work with. This is my 2nd system I have configured and ordered through AVADirect. My 1st system (purchased in 2009) is my everyday computer for home use. The 2nd system is the one I just configured and AVADirect built. During the configuration, you are presented with every component a PC could have (i.e. motherboard, CPU, case, memory, etc). And each component has vast number choices to select from; ranging from color, capacity, manufacturer, cost, etc. For example, there are well over 50 different power supplies to select from. Joe Mundy responded to every question, comment, and concern that I had, no matter how trivial it was and the response was usually within a few hours at the most. I explained to Joe that this PC was a college graduation gift for my step-son and will be used for video editing. I told Joe the budget that I was working with and asked him what changes he would suggest on the PC I configured. He told me that the PC was configured well for what it will be used for. I was well under budget and he didn’t just add things to increase the cost. This alone tells me that they care for the customer and not just maximizing profits. That is why I’m a repeat customer.
I haven’t seen a PC build this clean in all my life. When I opened the case to look inside, I had to look for cables/wires. They are routed along the bottom edge of the motherboard and/or tied down out of sight. This not only is not only visually appealing, but allows the air to flow un-impeded through the case. The PC is also extremely quiet. You can tell that while the PC was being built, the utmost attention to detail was given. Every manual, CD, cable, etc that was remaining or used during the build, is sent to you along with the PC. All of this was in the box the motherboard was in. That’s an excellent way to show you that the components you purchased were used in your build and they didn’t pull the ol’ “bait and switch”. The even sent me the tube that the CPU paste was in and it had a little bit left in it. I am extremely happy with AVADirect. They not only have a repeat customer in myself, but I tell everyone I know that is in the market for a PC about my experiences with AVADirect and highly recommend them.
