Buyer beware, Bait and switch!

They sell knock-off products claiming to be genuine. I am 2 for 2 on getting low quality knock-offs. They happily charge a genuine premium though.

I purchased a 'genuine' Phillips replacement bulb for my home theatre projector (at a premium of over $280). The bulb I was initially sent had a catastrophic failure the second time it was turned on. I spoke to a customer service agent who 'helpfully' explained I had been sent a generic bulb by mistake, and issued a RMA. I was then told the genuine bulb was backordered and would be a long wait. When I emailed asking to cancel my order I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they have a genuine replacement for me. After 2 a months of waiting I received my replacement-replacement bulb, which I promptly installed. After a year I had about 20-30 hrs on the bulb (reno's/new family) and had another catastrophic failure. After inspection and comparison with the original bulb, the replacement-replacement bulb is also a generic knock-off, sold as genuine. After contacting customer service about receiving a knock-off product I received this curt reply:

Dear Customer

It has been two years since you bought this item from us. Your rma request has been denied and unfortunately, there is nothing we can do.

This issue is now closed.

As previously stated by another reviewer, the 'feedback' link at the bottom of the email does not work, because they clearly don't care. Now I need to go shopping for a real bulb. And for the record, it was less then a year and a half from the purchase date to when I got in touch with Customer 'service'.

After originally posting my review April 27th, I received a phone call AND email from A Matter Of Fax within 12hrs (kudos to resellerratings.com).

I just got word that you had a less than satisfactory experience with us here at A Matter Of Fax, I would like to make things right with you, please allow me the opportunity to discuss this with you further"

Talking to A Matter of Fax I explained I wasn't asking for a refund, all I wanted was the item I ordered (and paid for), not the generic off-brand they sent me. Twice. I was assured my issue would be taken care of, and was asked to remove my review in the meantime (which I did).

After over 2 weeks, and sending 2 emails asking for an update, I have received no communication. I am filing with the BBB, and advise everyone else having issues to do the same."
