It happened twice so its not occasionally.
1. I order camcorder . Then they wait two MONTHS to tell me they "oversold" the item that was listed as "available" on their website. I call them every week and they have ready stories like IT WAS SHIPPED TO YOU FROM OUR WAREHOUSE IN CALIFORNIA, or THE CAMERA COME BACK TO US BECAUSE YOU WASN'T AT HOME(funny when I request for tracking they start babbling), or WE ARE READY TO SEND THE CAMERA TO YOU(and again few days waiting to call them and finfd out in's not in stock).
After I cancel that order I have to call them two more times to get my money back which took them almost two weeks.
2 time, the item was "available" again, I paid extra for next day delivery. After one week cancel the order.
4. I order camera which suppose to came with memory card which cost $199, instead the send me cheap card for $74 After I call them some guy try to convince me that the one I get (transcent CF 20MB/S) is better and faster than SANDISC CF 90MB/S!!!!. After long conversation(he was very rude) he agree to exchange the card for the one I should get. WELL GUESS WHAT! I get another Transcent but they send SD insted CF!
I call them again and I ask for manager. He was very understanding and agree that the Abesofmaine have huge mess and employees problem. After hat phone call I get what I should.

The truck that arrived told me they do not do steps so they left it on the curb. Paid an extra $100 for a service that sucked.

Yesterday from Jason of Abes asking me to go thru with my disatisfaction with my order/experience.
We discussed in detail - why I was so disatisfied with the salesmen and the way my order was processed last week. Jason was very attentive and explained that when I called to cancel my order (the very next day) the salesmen should have transferred me to his department rather than doing what he did -NOTHING. In the end, I still have the Sharp TV but I have a feeling that my issue will be handled different in the future and another customer will benefit from my experience.
Thank you Jason - as a consumer, I appreciate that your organization wants to know why their customer's are dissatisfied. I do shop around but will spend a few dollars more, drive a little farther, if I know I'm going to be taken care of.
Lastly, Jason was pleasant, listened intently to my concerns and offered some feedback for resolution. This experience changed my opinion of Abes of Maine.
One final word - if you have a problem with an order, speak with the Customer Service department rather than your sales person.
HERE'S My Original Review - NO longer an UNHAPPY Customer
Such a shame they are such a sham! Don't buy from these guys as they are dishonest and use deceptive techniques to prohibt you from cancelling/changing your order if you want or need to. In addition, their policies about returns and cancellations are confusing so if you call to ask questions about it after you placed your order - you'll not get an honest reply!
I ordered a TV on Wednesday and on Thursday husband and I decided we wanted a different brand which Abes didn't sell. I called back the salesperson and told them to cancel. He said "can't cancel, your order was shipped." I honestly didn't believe him because it just didn't sound right - I had just gotten confirmation of my order, didn't receive any notification with shipping details, etc. I called back and said that i definately wanted to cancel my order - this time he checked again, confirmed that my order was shipped but then said "we don't accept cancellations and you cannot cancel when the truck arrives." He then called me back within 15 minutes and explains that the truck will be at my house the next day w/the TV.
Here's the problem w/all this - you have 72 hours under NJ law to cancel an order. So when I called the next day and expressed my interest in cancelling, he should not have lied to me and told me I couldn't, and not have lied saying the shipment left his wharehouse. I know factually that the men who delivered the TV were from NJ and as I said, I live in NY. The trucking co picked up the TV from Abes that Friday morning and delivered it - there was no outbound pickup and enroute of the TV as the indicated on the phone - this was just all nonsense to stop me from cancelling.
The moral of the story - Did I mention I had an issue w/the price? Or the wait time for shipping? Or did I ever say I was not satisfied with my order process? Not at all - had the man been honest with me - perhaps even asked why I had changed my mind he could have had a faithful customer. Instead he's got a upset customer who'll write nasty things about their organization on any website she can - including AMAZON (they are partner), NJ Consumer Affairs, and the BBB.
GOOD LUCK IF YOU ORDER FROM THESE GUYS - DON"T DO IT UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE!
