"There must be a systematic issue with this laptop or I must be the most unlucky person ever. After having it a week a year ago the motherboard failed. They sent a tech out to fix and the used motherboard he installed had no sound. After a week that motherboard failed. After numerous attempts to get a replacement computer they sent me refurbished one - problem is it was a cheaper version and smaller M15. I sent it back and requested a new one. 2 months later I get a slightly better model. Things seemed good but after 4 weeks - this one kept freezing up. I reset it 3 times and still freezing issues. I am completely done with this computer and Dell. There must be some issue with the cooling system as everyone I had ran extremely hot and sounded like a jet engine taking off. This coupled with cheap interior components must lead to failures. I have no idea how this computer has not been recalled, or maybe I just had bad luck with t3 motherboards in a row? Buyer beware. "
"I have been a dell customer for years and am Alienware customer for years as well. Recently upon having to send my m17 r4 in I had a really awful experience with customer service associated with repair. They put my concern off an a stupid problem and I got no consideration all the way up the chain to management. I am a keeper of original packaging. I was sent a box that my laptop could not fit securely. I informed them, they sent another exactly like the first. I finally decided to protect my investment to ship it in original packaging all the way down to the brown paper wrapping around the box. I requested by voice, email and in writing that my property be returned in my box. That didn’t happen. I complained and they basically told me tuff get over it. They also changed my pc by installing a new screen which was an upgrade. What they did not do was inform me they would change it to something different. I don’t care if it was an upgrade or not, inform me it’s my property which I pay a premium price for extended warranty. After I got no where with all of that I had again problems with the eye tracking feature which is why I sent it in the first place. This was not working when it was returned supposedly repaired. I’ve had trouble ever since and they basically stopped answering my requests. It’s still not right, they won’t refund the balance of my warranty and I’m no longer a dell/Alienware customer this ends a 20 relationship. Shame on you people for being an awful example of service/customer service people you really disappoint. My advice go where they care about their customers because they don’t here. "

"Even though alienware computers are expensive, they're reliable and powerful. They're built specifically for gamers and are known for their quality and performance."
"Drivers, bios and support are not through Alienware but through Dell. They will stall to avoid extending your warranty in time. They will violate service contracts and even agree that their sales department will say anything to earn a sale. I have the Alienware M17xR4. I would advise anyone who is worried about the run around to avoid purchasing Alienware products, as that is what you will receive. This is backed up by the growing number of users, including a group forming up to file a class action lawsuit, of worsening service and support, especially ever since Dell went private. I urge gamers to look at other companies, spend your time gaming, not mailing your laptop back and forth. I have more warnings to give but you are limited to 5k characters."
"HORRIBLE!!! I came into a store in Chengdu, China during my visit there and to summarize it: Workers playing on the PC’s and not allowing us to test the computers by playing the installed games!
So.... I sat in front of one of the computers and started steam. There was already an account logged in, that was named after the store name and location, so no private account. There were two games ibstalled and I opened one game. Immediately after I opened the game and wanted to start to play it a worker that sat infront of another computer playing LOL, he told me in a very rude and loud tone (in chinese), that I am not allowed to play games. (I understand and can speak chinese.)
So I went out of the store, that was located in a shopping mall and probably got me as the first visitor of the Alienware store today. So after around 5 minutes I came into the store and asked the worker that was still sitting infront of that computer playing LOL, why I’m not allowed to play any games on the computer. He didn’t understand me so he stood up, looked at me and called another worker. He then sat down and continued to play LOL. (how rude) When the other worker came I asked him the same question, he kinda understood it and said of course you can play the games on the computers. He then showed me a chinese website where some stuff was written. I only understood ID and steam on it. So what I understood was that you can play the games but you need to use your steam account to play them. But because there was already a steam account logged on on that Pc, I told him that there is already a steam account logged in on that Pc. Finally he said that I can go and play.
So... the one worker that was able to speak a bit of english was able to answer my question in a normal way. BUT the other worker, that was playing LOL for the whole time I was there and didn’t react in a proper way to my questions, played LOL during his work time and talked (more shouted) to me in a very rude way.
If some official from Dell or Alienware reads this please contact your office in China and reschool your workers in the stores (and teach them a bit english...)
Compare the service to Apple store service. There, you can play games, test the devices, surf the web.. pretty much do everything that the devices allow you.
Sorry, but what I experienced today was a horrible and rude customer service that wants me to never ever visit an Alienware store again...
(The store is located in the “in99” mall in Chengdu) "
"This was my 2nd Dell purchase following a horrible technical support experience with Dell on a previous laptop. I had hopes that the Alienware brand would be treated as the luxury laptop brand that it was prior to Dell's takeover, and for me, at the time, the price was good for the powerhouse I thought I was getting.
Unfortunately, I got a lemon, and Dell support is extraordinarily poor. I fought with tech support over the course of over a year, telling them that their hardware was the problem, after reinstalling Windows multiple times myself in attempts to fix a significant number of issues which rendered my laptop very difficult to use appropriately.
Finally after a 1 1/2 years of ownership, and having to send the laptop back to the service techs 4 times, I got a laptop that worked, although I had to reinstall Windows yet again before it ran smoothly...
I'm not sure why they do this... do they just not know any better? Do they find it more efficient to pay for shipping and repairs than build good systems and fix things in a timely manner?
The fact is, this was my 2nd attempt with Dell, with their Luxury brand... and it failed, and their service department failed horrifically, despite the fact that I bought their Premium warranty...
Now, my screen is cracked despite no overt trauma... it was sitting in my laptop bag at the time... perhaps I placed it down with too much force? Who cares... my now $2000+laptop+warranty+prior service fixes will require another $350 to fix... I don't really blame Dell for this last decision, but it's the icing on the cake of a long string of mishaps.
I am writing this at least in part to remind myself, if I EVER even CONSIDER buying another DELL, please, me, read this first, and remember that Dell is awful, doesn't care, does everything they can to avoid responsibility, and I will almost DEFINITELY regret buying another Dell, even if it's a really cheap Alienware...
To you other people reading this, GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY or learn to build your own..."
"We spent more for an Alienware, thinking it was a high quality machine that we could use for quite a few years. During the warranty period, we had a number of issues. They finally replaced it, but the replacement they sent was not an exact replacement and was a lesser quality. It wasn't the red we paid more for and also didn't have the solid state hard drive we paid for. We fought hard to finally get a solid state hard drive, but were forced to buy a new laptop bag and couldn't use the extra power supply we had purchased, because it was incompatible.
Fast forward to Windows 10, which the update was not compatible with our version. When we tried reverting back to Windows 7, that wouldn't work either. We worked with customer service, then after a month of waiting for parts, it was sent back with no communication. After several minutes on the phone with customer service representative Ruben, I was told the customer service should have never offered the option to send it in, because it's more than 3 years old and anything more than 3 years old is not repairable.
Don't spend the extra on Alienware, unless you like throwing your money away."
"I bought 15 R2. It was great for 15 months. Then suddenly the battery died. It was not covered in my insurance.
I was ready to pay for a new battery but Dell didn't had that in their stock. Also they said if I get it installed from a 3rd party vendor then the warranty of my system will be void. It is a total hostage kind of situation for me. "
"My alienware desktop meets all the minimum specs to install windows 10 on it but dell stopped releasing BIOS updates that allow my system to support the windows 10 update. I found my own way to work around it and got the update installed so i am running windows 10. I would not expect the average consumer to be able to do this kind of task. I am catching a trend now that Alienware is not making even newer versions than mine of the Alienware Aurora (mine is the R3) to support further windows 10 updates. for example when windows 10 came out i had to force the installation of windows 10 on my PC in order for it to work through a very tedious process since the BIOS does not support it. Only later versions of the Alienware aurora R3 support the update and any newer version of the alienware aurora support it as well. Now that the Fall creators edition of windows 10 came out not long ago, i have noticed that any computer that is an alienware aurora R5 or newer can support this update https://www.dell.com/support/article/ca/en/cadhs1/sln297954/dell-computers-tested-for-windows-10-fall-creators-update-and-previous-versions-of-windows-10?lang=en. even though these computers that are older meet the minimum requirements windows has set they cannot upgrade because alienware does not provide driver's and a BIOS that can support the upgrade and deem that model "incompatable". I suspect alienware does this to take your money so you purchase a new computer from them once every 3 years or so. I feel that a customer should be able to use their product to its full potential and not be limited from using their product because alienware makes it incompatible through a BIOS that prevents you from keeping your PC relevant. This has just lost them my future business and i regret ever purchasing an Alienware PC and i do not want others to feel the same regret. If alienware wants customer loyalty then allow people to use their products as they please and do not make older products "incompatible" with newer versions of windows when the products meet minimun specifications. If their plan was to make me purchase another PC through them so i can use my windows 10 without any issues then they have lost all my interest. I hope that his post turns people away from alienware."
"If you don't want headache do not buy this computer or any other alienware laptop. XPS laptop also do not buy. It is not anymore xps as it was before. Dell company will probably go buncropcy. Alienware laptops heavy as tank but made so cheap that every week you will have to reinstall Windows, bios drivers, robin eye tracking and so so much more that will change your mind about Dell and probably go to another company. When you buy laptop from amazon or any other vendors not Dell, you will have to register with Dell and you can not use Dell update drivers support site more then 2 weeks. This is so stupid since I can't update new system with drivers I need for programs to run and especially if you need to reinstall your Windows on a new drive, for example ssd drive, your cloned drive will nit work as c: drive because this computer built as a server ripe mashcine. You will loose your operation system but this computer does not come with reinstall media of any type CD or USB. and you have to wait more then 2 weeks for your service tag to appear on Dell supper site that you can download image CD to reinstall your system. This is most stupidest thing Dell could do but this is their policy. And even you will install your own Windows 10 / 10 pro the drivers will be different for each system even if it is the same model. I use Dell laptops since 1999 and I was only buying Dell, reliable, strong, never had a problem I use to have many Dell laptops. Now I am warning you you will not enjoy Dell products anymore. I am writing about laptops, not sure about Dell desktop computers. I will put this review all over the web for people to know that for so expensive machine you will get not only cheap and heavy box but also anger, not sleeping nights and calling mostly every day to worst computer support company. Without any success or resolution of the problem. So please think twice, this company is not anymore an option. It is up to you to take a chance and throw out your money after reading my review and my experience. "
"Don't buy Alienware laptop.complete waste of money."
"Almost 10 years later I still love it so when I wanted a smaller lap top I bought another. I knew that dell had purchased Alienware but had thought they would maintain the same quality. I was wrong, after only 10 months the lap top died completely. I am under warranty and so am sending it for repair but I will never buy another dell product again. I tried two dell laptops before my first Alienware and the all had mother board failure in the first year of service. "
"Really bad experience-- ordered an expensive gaming laptop, when it arrived it had a RX 470 card instead of what I had ordered (GTX 1070). Very shady and/or incompetent. "
"I purchased an Alienware 17" Laptop at a cost of $2460
Two weeks after getting the computer, the computer would not charge the batteries when plugged in
I called tech support and they tried software upgrades, but that didn't work
They had someone come out to my office and replace a part and the battery
That didn't work
They replaced the computer after 2 months. 3 weeks later, the new computer did the exact same thing
You could not charge the battery when the computer was plugged in
So it became a desktop computer since the battery would not charge
The computer says "plugged in, not charging"
Alienware/Dell quit working with me and would not repair this computer
I can't be the only person that this has happened to
I wish that someone would file a class action lawsuit against Alienware/Dell"
