"My 36 year old furnace finally gasped it's last breath 10 days ago when I attempted to start it for the first time this year. Frantic, I started to look online for a replacement furnace. I called a few contractors to get estimates and found out that I couldn't afford a new furnace. The quotes were in the thousands. Thousands I don't have. I live in central NY and not having a furnace is not an option. Then I found Alpine online. I couldn't believe their pricing. I used their BTU calculator to figure out which unit I needed and went about researching installation of a gas furnace. I'm an auto mechanic by trade and I have done gas lines and electrical in the past. So most of the install was pretty mainstream. But I was kind of worried about the cold air plenum. I needed to rearrange the configuration of the furnace and I had to get a new cold air plenum to fit it. I bought the "air drop" plenum from Alpine with the furnace and they were shipped together. I watched the DVD that came with it and learned how to build it and install it. Now, 10 days later, I have heat and I did it all for a little over $700. How can I beat that. The shipping was free to my house and my wife and I carried it down into the cellar. I didn't even have to pay tax. However, if you do decide to buy one online from Alpine, I will suggest a few things. First, if you are not knowledgeable with electrical or gas, (or whatever your heat source is), call a professional for that stuff. It's not worth killing yourself if you don't know what your doing. Second, do your research and be informed. Third, make sure you have all of your work checked to make sure you did it right. I have a friend who is a retired plumber who came over and checked all my connections and did my CO readings and such.
Overall, Alpine did what they said, when they said, how they said, and I can't be happier saving myself $3900. I'm thrilled to say the least!"
