"The furnace humidistat shorted out. Our HVAC consultant recommended replacement of the manual humidistat with a digital one. The replacement costs for each were much more than I anticipated so I decided to try to do it myself. I located the same humidistat on Alpine's website and ordered it. After procrastination for a week, I decided to tackle it.
I turned the furnace off; check the electrical connections to be sure it was 'dead' and proceeded to remove the old humidistat and replace it with the new one... all it took was unhooking the two wires; pulling out the screws holding the old humidistat in the fiberboard ductwork; pulling out the defective device and inserting the new one in the same hole. I reattached it with a screw in each corner, reattached the two wires, flipped the electricity back on and adjusted the humidistat level. When the furnace kicked on, the humidistat opened the water line solenoid and the humidifer functioned like new! Success story for a savings of $200.00 - $350.00+"

We do our best to keep all standard units in stock and alert customers prior to order placement if a product may experience shipping delay due to stock levels - I can certainly understand your frustration when that did not happen in your case.
