"I can't say enough good things about Amazon. They have some of the best prices, fastest shipping, best customer service, best product selection, of all the online e-tailers.
I've made hundreds of orders from them and never been let down. If an item arrives broken or damaged a replacement will arrive in two days.
I dropped Newegg as a supplier and now buy most of the parts for my computer business from Amazon. No BS 'restocking fee' for bad parts and faster service. If you can't find it at Amazon you probably don't need it.

"I originally bought a TV on July 22nd. When I purchased the TV, the earliest Amazon Prime "Scheduled Delivery" shipping date was August 11th, so I switched to Standard Shipping, which Amazon said would cause the TV to ship out the next day. However, that didn't happen. Instead, a few days later I got an email stating that I would not get the item until mid-August. I emailed Amazon to find out why there was such a major change in the delivery date since the TV was shown as in stock when I purchased it and was in stock for at least a little while longer after my purchase. The person responding to the email treated me like an idiot who didn't understand how to read shipping dates (although in a polite tone) and basically just confirmed that my delivery date had been pushed back. When I then called Amazon to find out what was going on the person on the phone didn't seem to know that my delivery date was pushed back and continued to tell me that my delivery date was in mid-August. When I informed him that my delivery date had changed, he apologized and could only tell me that the "availability had changed." In the end I received no reason for why my delivery date was pushed back so far and have found out that many people who ordered this TV at the same time as me have already received theirs.

I am very disappointed with Amazon and if the TV hadn't been such a good deal I would have canceled already. At the very least I think I should of been informed about the delay much sooner, not a few days after the purchase. Considering that I will not even be home if the the delivery date is later than the posted expected date I may be forced to refuse the package anyway.

To Amazon's credit the person on the phone was very polite, although not very helpful.

"They have to do a better job of inventory control, I ordered a SLR camera package, marked in-stock than they started to slide the delivery time , again and again until I lost the $200 rebate form the camera.Customer service is useless..
I once ordered an item, in-stock, never shipped it, than cancelled it after about 1.5-years!!!!!!

"Beware "In Stock" status!

Like a number of other people, I've ordered many items from Amazon over the years and they've generally done well.

However, I had a problem recently (and more than once) and want to alert others to it.

In the first case, I ordered a camera and memory card as a gift for a family vacation -- meaning it needed to arrive before departure. Both were clearly marked "In Stock" so I expected the usual -- an e-mail within a day or so saying the order was being shipped. When it didn't arrive I checked my account and order confirmation e-mail and was surprised to see the "Shipping estimate" was for six days AFTER the order was placed.

Thinking it must be a mistake, I called Amazon and was told that the card was not in stock and the camera stock was low. I offered to remove the card from the order only to be told it wouldn't make any difference. The rationale offered was vague and contradictory so I cancelled the order.

In short, do not assume that "In Stock" means an item is actually in stock and will be shipped promptly.

ResellerRatings just asked me to update this review and in the meantime, the deceptive "In Stock" problem has occurred with a completely different order. The pages for the items have shown "In Stock" continuously despite the fact that Amazon has promised ship dates three different times and each time not delivered. Each time the estimated delivery date changed I called customer service and was told the items are not in stock. Obviously there's a BIG disconnection between the public pages and reality.

Note: For some unknown reason, the ResellerRating scoring system asks questions that are NOT specific to the order being reviewed but about OVERALL experience with a seller. Because my general experience with Amazon has been positive, those responses don't match this review.

"Have bought from them for years. But the first time I needed Customer Service, I got a Canned response which had nothing to do with my question.

Also, fist time I wrote a Negative Comment about a product, they never posted it!! I tried again a few days later, and again it did not show up! And I did not use any obscenity.
