I really expected more from Amazon.com. I shop from them a lot, but this will make me think twice about ordering from their merchants again. "Amazon customer service is top notch. I ordered a Corsair Power supply on April 10, which had a rebate attached to it. I chose the free super saver shipping.
A problem occurred and my order languished with no action for a few days and had an estimated shipping date of May 13! This would have been pushing the time limit on the rebate, and is really a long time, even for super saver shipping, since the item said "in stock" when I ordered it, and continued to say "in stock" even though my order was to ship in mid-May.
I contacted Amazon by email saying I would have to cancel the order due to it taking so long. In the mean time I canceled the order. I received an email back shortly from Amazon agent Srikanth.P.R instructing me to place a new order for the item, choose "one day shipping" and Amazon would refund me the difference. I thought that was just really cool, so I did and got my new power supply in a couple of days, in time for the rebate, and Amazon reimbursed my shipping costs.
Nice work Amazon! You folks are great and I will always try to buy first at Amazon.com.

"I will never buy again from Amazon. That is it.
Early this month I bought a brand-new VTech Dect 6.0 phone with 4 handsets one of which was defective. Amazon would not have the defective merchandise picked up and send me a replacement, nor would it send me a pre-paid shipping label. The customer must return the defective merchandise at his/her own expense for a reimbursement or replacement.
I made many purchases from Amazon before. The merchandise arrived as expected each time. Therefore, I never had to return anything. This last time was an exception, but a bad one.
Other online merchants I dealt with apologized and shipped me a replacement and had the defective merchandise picked up at their own expense if the merchandise they shipped were defective. Amazon would not do it. Their A-to-Z Guarantee Service is another joke.
I contacted the manufacturer (VTech). They said I could return the phone to them for a replacement but I had to pay for the shipment because I did not buy the phone from their online factory store. It cost me $18.80 (UPS ground) to return the phone, and I am waiting for a replacement.
Amazon.com is a great place to shop as long as you are lucky not to receive a defective merchandise. If your luck runs out like mine did with the last purchase, Amazon is not there when you need it.
In closing, I will never buy again from Amazon.

"I have been a faithful Amazon customer for years, and in the last year alone I've probably ordered 20 - 30 times (if not more). Every single time, it's been a smooth experience. "I figured my first review would be with one of first companies I ever started shopping with on a regular basis since the internet boom.
I believe I started shopping with Amazon in 2000, at least that's how far my order history goes back. I could have sworn it may have been a year or two earlier, but I digress.
I really don't know what I'd do without Amazon, they've really saved me boatloads of money overall. I tend to order something from there once a week or at least every two weeks. I admit, a good majority of my purchases are electronics. Followed by the occasional odds and ends such as housewares and beauty products.
I've renewed my Amazon Prime membership three times now since it's inception in 2005. That has saved me so much money overall, I no longer need to meet the $25 requirement for free shipping. This makes it easier to order little things (less than $25) I might need quickly within 2 days, and for the emergency/instant gratification factor I can get overnight shipping for $3.99.
I've returned a total of five things since I've been shopping with them, either due to not being what I needed or getting defective merchandise. The return process is quite simple... no confusing emails back and forth to customer service for RA numbers which is a major plus. Also, if the result of the return is due to an Amazon error the return shipping is free.
I've also taken advantage of their newly launched MP3 store. Some of their prices simply cannot be beat compared to iTunes. I always tend to peruse their MP3 site on a regular basis to see what the 'Daily Deal' is. I've gotten full albums for $1.99, and new release albums for $3.99.
So 10 years and $10k later, I am an extremely happy Amazon customer. I can only see myself shopping there (a little) less if the Internet Reseller tax goes through, but until then I'm still enjoying the ride!"
"The only thing that Amazon did right with my order was to have their automated system immediately return my call. I am so thoroughly disgusted with Amazon.com and I had to demand that my order be canceled. Amazon failed from the very beginning to do anything properly with my order. They FAILED to get my billing information correct. They FAILED to adhere to their two day estimate to ship from the beginning; I ordered on a Sunday and immediately the shipping estimate was THREE days later on a Wednesday. Why in the world would I ever want to pay for an extra service of two day shipping when that service is not fulfilled as promised on the very first order. Amazon FAILED by locking me out of my account because they FAILED to get my billing address correct. They FAILED to read my email reply stating how unhappy I was with their lack of proper customer service and offer of redemption; they didn't bother to call me though I left my number and didn't ship by the alternate date. They FAILED by telling me they could not ship my order to arrive until 4/13, this is nine days after my order and seven days after the promised two day shipping. They FAILED when I was told on the phone that I could not cancel my order because it had already been shipped. They FAILED by not unlocking my account and allowing me access so that I could review and/or change, or cancel my order. I counted eight failures on Amazon's part in one simple order. Scary that I gave such an irresponsible business my information so I demanded they close my account and remove all of my information from their database. It just amazes me that I live less than 30
miles from Amazon headquarters and cannot make a simple purchase in a timely manner. Count me as one very disgruntled customer lost to Amazon. It would just be simpler if Amazon would just state from the beginning that they don't want or cannot handle new business. It's way too easy to shop elsewhere."
