"I purchased a Panasonic G1 camera, and extra zoom 45-200mm, and extra battery, as a package deal from Amazon.com. I found out later that the camera was sold by a company by the name of prophotobags. Unfortunately for me this company whose real name is Carmen's foto Source is a Canadian company. Therefore my camera does not have a valid USA warranty. I contacted Panasonic about this and they told me that they could not cover me at Panasonic USA for my warranty. I contacted the CEO of Amazon.com Mr. Jeff Bezos, I sent the material to him registered US mail and it was received a week ago yesterday, March 2, 2009. I have not heard anything back from them.
I would highly recommend that any time you're buying something from Amazon.com you know exactly who the sellers are and that they are legitimate American companies. This Carmen's outfit also does business on eBay by another name.
If you want to make sure that you're getting your full value for money and have a legitimate warranty on any products bought through Amazon you had better know who you're actually buying from.
As for me, after doing business with Amazon.com for over 10 years and having good experiences, I'm going to do my best to never buy anything from them again. I do not feel that they can be trusted after this experience."

"Amazon is my retailer of last resort -- if I can't find what I need at Newegg or other sites, I'll go with them. The reason? Slow shipping, unless you pay extra. I ordered on 3-3-09, and the estimated ship date is 3-9-09, but as of 5:30 pm Pacific time, my item has not been shipped.
In contrast, I ordered two items from Newegg on 3-2-09, and tried to cancel one of them 3 hours later, but Newegg had already shipped them both -- for FREE. I refused delivery on the item I cancelled, and Newegg is going to refund 100% of the purchase price when the item arrives back at their warehouse. Amazon should learn from them!!
I live in Washington State, so I'm already paying more to deal with Amazon because of the sales tax. The prospect of having to pay extra to get an item shipped in a reasonable amount of time is ridiculous, as is a 6-day "waiting" period for an item to be processed.

"Amazon.com is the gold standard for online shopping. Their selection and prices are really unparalleled. I've purchased everything from $12 USB flash drives to $1,200 watches without any concern.
One very important point that should be made clear is that their Free Shipping option will delay your shipment by several days, for no obvious or apparent reason. The item I ordered would've taken almost seven business days TO SHIP. When I changed the shipping option to UPS ground for $5 more, my item shipped the same day and was DELIVERED in three business days. Seems a bit unreasonable to me."

I am an international customer using an international VISA card, with shipping address in the US that is registered with my VISA office. I have filled that address as my billing and shipping address so they will send the bill there too.
Soon after placing the order with my credit card, I tried to log in again and failed. My log in information was invalidated by Amazon.com , and when I called them it turned out that my account is on hold. It would have been nice if they would have given me a message about it when trying to log in , instead of making me think that my log in details are incorrect, like I forgot the password or something like that.
I then ... after a long time, got an email that my account is on hold, and they require me to send them the billing statement of my financial institution. (see *)
I have sent them a reply , giving them the phone number of the authorization department of my non-US based VISA office. I have also included a reference to that phone number on a secure site (https) of my VISA, so they could check that this number is authentic.
I have got only automated responses from the Account Specialist email, and they were all preformatted, and ignored what ever I replied. They did not contact my financial institution, yes , I called my VISA office and they told me so.
I then sent them the fax, that they wanted one day after, including my billing statement, which is in non Latin letters , so I don't know how they are going to read it, and I also attached a hand written page and mentioned there also my foreign billing address which is what is written on the statement. I wrote to them that my financial institution (VISA) would verify both addresses, and wrote my VISA's authorization phone number there again. I then got reply (No room for attachment due to 5000 letters limit) which is basically saying that what I faxed them doesn't have the information they need.
I then replied by email, phoned, talked to the customer service department manager etc. It turns out that the "Account Specialist" does not have any direct phone line, and even the customer service department manager can not do anything but send the "Account Specialist" an email, so he did that, and it turned out that the "Account Specialist" did not bother to do anything even after that. My VISA office has still not been contacted and it is now 6 days after the placement of the order, after numerous emails and phone calls, and a fax.
I am currently am limited on time, due to a time limited good shipping option of the items to my home country, and I had 8 days to get the items to my US address for that. This should have not been a problem with a two day shipping, or a one day shipping, but now it looks like it is not going to happen.
In the meanwhile I have also received an email from the customer service department about an item that I have ordered that went out of stock in the meanwhile, which means that while they let me wait, they did not have the decency to reserve my order items which were in stock. I then saw that some of the other items are showing a ~"this is the last item on stock, to get it order soon"~.
Out of options, I decided that maybe writing my US shipping address as billing address is the source of this problem, and since the Account Specialist seems to be an automaton, this is a dead end there, and maybe if I order again a and write my US shipping address as shipping address and my foreign billing address as billing address, it may get to the right department there, which handles foreign credit cards, and they will know how to resolve it. So I did that , and guess what - my account got locked a few minutes after placing the order, and a call to the customer service department revealed again that it is on hold, and if I would like , they could contact the Account Specialist on my behalf ...
A day later I got the same e-mail that I have got before (see *), which means that the correct foreign billing address had no effect.
By the way, before starting all of this I have contacted customer service and asked them if they respect international credit cards, and they said that they do, and that there should not be any problem.
