"I was charged $105.93 for a Prime Membership, I did not join. I called Amazon at ***-***-**** and they told me, my account was hacked in by someone in Berlin, Germany. "So today I tried to order some items from Amazon.com. I selected Ships to canada and then selected the free international shipping option. I selected items only sold and shipped by amazon.
Once I got to the checkout I was shocked to see shipping costs in excess of 3 times the value of the order.
I tried contacting their customer service department and they informed me Amazon only offers free shipping to Mexico and Singapore.
Seriously free shipping to SINGAPORE? but not Canada?
Another classic example of a poorly organized american e-tailer that discriminates against Canadians.
I strongly recommend not supporting this company until they recognize Canada is part of North America."
"I am well aware of the fact that many items on Amazon.com are not sold or fulfilled by Amazon. I therefore am very careful about what I buy there and for how much. I rarely buy anything from other sellers but Amazon. I found some Ottlite lightbulbs I needed on Amazon that were no longer available from Office Depot where I usually order the bulbs and bought the lamp. They were fulfilled by Amazon but sold by another person.
I ordered two bulbs. They came in a box with a mini bubble wrap sleeve around each one and no other packaging in the box. I was skeptical when I saw it. But since it was fulfilled by Amazon I did not worry too much I thought they would be honest about it.
Boy was I wrong. The bulbs did not work. I had to open the packaging to find out they did not work. I did a return and sent it with their shipping label. They claim they did not get the return. I got my money refunded then they took it back. So I am out the money for the bulbs.
Now to my dismay I can't leave feedback about this at all. They say I have to leave packaging feedback in one place and product feedback in another. The place for feedback about packaging does not have my item there. The place for regular product feedback does not allow packaging feedback.
What a huge waste of time. Fulfillment by Amazon means absolutely nothing. "

"I have been a customer of Amazon for many years and ordered hundreds of times. On the rare occasion where I have had an issue they have always exceeded my expectations in handling these. Here are a few examples:
1.) A $5 item was going to be late for Christmas due to slowdowns at UPS (no fault of amazon). Amazon shipped me another of these $5 items NEXT DAY AIR. The first item arrived the day after Christmas but the replacement one arrived the day before.
2.) About 10 times I have had to return item. Every one of these events Amazon handled them fairly. Sometimes I get my refund before they even get the item back from me.
Their prime service is getting better and better. Sometimes I get my items on saturday or sunday 1 day after I order them.
Is there room for improvement? Yes:
1.) The prime pantry gets in the way of standard prime searches. They need a checkbox to remove prime pantry items from search.
2.) Prime pantry needs to be free shipping for each container (if you fill a container 90% or higher). Prices between pantry items and non-pantry items are like comparing apples to oranges because of this.
3.) Reviews on items should be clear if a bad review is due to a marketplace seller and not the item itself. Reviews are too merged into one sometimes so if there are 3 models of an item and one model is horrible while the other two are great, it looks like all 3 are just ok. We need distinct reviews on items, not merged ones.
But all things said, they still earn 5 stars from me."
"I am really starting to get into online shopping because of the convenience I really thought Amazon was great, but I've had a couple of bad experiences, and it seems as though one can do better. Especially in their so-called Marketplace. The reason why I like dealing with Amazon over eBay is that I like the fact that I'm dealing with an organization directly that being Amazon, however in their marketplace you are also dealing directly with the seller, the seller can screw you over, an Amazon neighbor I will try to make it right but that does not mean the seller won't take your money and not give you anything"
