"I ordered a ceramic Christmas ornament and Amazon shipped it in a padded envelope. The ornament arrived in multiple pieces. While Amazon refunded my money, they were completely indifferent to the fact that absolutely no care or thought was given to how to package the ornament.
To them, the refund cost was an acceptable cost of doing sloppy business. They just no longer about their customers."

With prime, I noticed a step up in customer service (e.g. sending a complete replacement of an item when only one minor part was missing from the original order, or refunding the amount of a gift set of three when only one part was missing from one out of the three items). "After reading other reviews here, the consensuses is Amazon is no longer what it used to be. I now have to pay CA tax, yet shipping might as well come from China. I was informed if you opt for 'free shipping', you will be put on indefinite hold while they service paid shipping customers. They use the same shipper in either case, its the time it takes them to package that makes the difference. Its been nearly two weeks since I ordered and it has yet to leave their warehouse. Anyone wanting a Xmas present before the 25th, should look elsewhere unless they order before Thanksgiving. To get normal delivery service, Amazon customers are now forced to pay high shipping fees (which really means faster packaging). So the values of the past with Amazon, are no more. Look elsewhere for cheaper prices and better customer service."

"I have had very few issues with Amazon. First, I joined as a free member, then, I got Amazon Prime student for free, then I joined paid prime, because the benefits are really worth it. The only time I have ever run into trouble is because of something I ordered wrong or my 4 year old ordered off of the Kindle when I wasnt paying attention. I always get great customer service, especially when I use mayday. I only seem to get an international rep whenever i use the regular chat on the website, but if it is something complicated, they have always esclated it to an American. I am very happy with Amazon. I feel like it is one of the only companies I can really count on to keep consistent service."
