I have had amazing experiences with returns and exchanges with items shipped and sold by Amazon. They offer free shipping back, and they ship the exchange item before you even ship yours back.
If you have not tried their live chat, try it! They are very helpful and will occasionally make exceptions including price matches/guarantees
Here are my experiences with returns/exchanges
1. Playstation 3D Display
Wanted to return this because it was widely advertised as 240hz, but it is clearly does not operate at 240hz normally.
Used live chat, they gave me free shipping back, and gave me a full refund.
2. Cooler Master Storm Trigger Keyboard
Occasionally my 0 key would get stuck. I used live chat to ask for an exchange on a Saturday. I received the new keyboard on Monday, and free shipping label back to Amazon for the defective one.
3. Optoma ML500 Projector
I was one month past my return period on this projector, but just recently I started using HDMI on this projector and noticed that I had HDMI signal drop issues even when I try with different computers and cables. Amazon allowed me to exchange this projector!"
"placed an order on 11/13/2012, 9 days later the price dropped by $40, when I contacted the vendor they refused to refund the difference. They stated that I could unwrap all the presents, repackage it and return it to them for credit in 2-3 weeks, then I could turn around and repurchase it again at the lower price, minus the shipping to return it of course. I contacted Amazon and they stated that it is a 3rd party vendor and they have no control over their pricing policy. Product box arrived in previously opened cellophane with dried glue at site of previous seal, which was re-sealed with scotch tape. Sticky area on bottom of inner box, probably site of previous price sticker. Top lid of box with crease, consistent with previously opened product. Was suspicious overall for tampering or fake product. Called Amazon, but had to call again next day as "large products division" was closed after hours the first day. Day 2, they refunded purchase without a problem. Buy approximately 1 purchase per month on Amazon, never had a return til now. Was handled well, and I am happy with their customer service."

The purpose of the tactic is to get customers to visit a store or business by advertising very low prices. At 8:00 pm est ( NYC/NJ) We clicked , third in line and not TV Sets to be had? No volume of sets available listed either. AMZN ( AMAZON ) is getting like KMart now. showing things they do not want to sell but BAIT and SWITCH you. Congress should know on this FRAUD now.
Why after it showed gone was it still able to be BOuGHT on AMAzon at the Much Higher price shown? Then suddenly now not available?
