"This has been the most frustrating experience. This company seems to not care about keeping customers.
Its been way over a month i call weekly to get a different excuse every time. (From the same guy) He seems frustrated that i would like good service. I will never order from here again. Please take the time to fill out a BBB report. to get this company to stop. Or they will just change there name again. "
"Ordered four things. Got double billed...did they catch it- heck no! So, I ordered a set of nesting crates, which arrived 2 weeks after I ordered, banister, which arrived over a month after I ordered it, a backdrop which arrived 4 months after I ordered it and a bench has yet to arrive- 6 months ago it was ordered! I have not received 1 phone call, 1 email or ANYTHING stating stuff was going to be delayed. You call and it is always supposed to be shipping out next week.
So I called today (March 30, 2010) and I told them I should at least get a refund on the shipping charge..and he said they can't do that it is a service! Well, I said so is being your customer, refund my $ and I will go elsewhere. SO, DO NOT SHOP FROM THIS PLACE - that is unless you care to wait a year for your stuff!"
"After reading all the negative reviews I felt I needed to write one. I never place an on line order until I first call to verify in stock status. Even the best companies take a day or two, sometimes more to list an item as out. Having worked in retail I know first hand that computers do not always get the correct updates in a timely manner. My first experience with Backdrop Outlet was good. When I first called Frankie told me they did not have what I wanted in stock, but he took a physical look and found one. I needed the backdrop quickly and at no additional charge Frankie saw that it was sent that afternoon on Monday. I received it on Thursday the same week with no additional shipping charges. It was what I wanted, in good condition. The quality of the painted muslin backdrop is excellent and I will look to them for my next backdrop. I also checked on the day I ordered and the backdrop had been removed from the on line listing. "
"This is the fourth time I've ordered from Backdrop Outlet. This is the second time I've had delays in getting my product. This time the delay has been three months from the order date.
If the item say "in stock" you have a good chance of getting it in a reasonable amount of time. If not, don't think the three to four weeks "backorder" time will be followed.
I am waiting for something I ordered three months ago. I've phoned twice with a promise that it was due to arrive at their warehouse within a week.
I've gotten no emails, no calls but the worst part is I have received NO PRODUCT!
After a little research, I find this is par for the course for this company. SEVENTEEN complaints registered against them at the Better Business Bureau.
THEY HAVE MY MONEY - I'VE GOT NOTHING.

"Not recommended. Order was billed to my credit card immediately upon placing the order but I was told that it would not ship for up to 4 weeks.
5 weeks later, my backdrop still had not shipped so I called to cancel the order. The person on the phone informed me that it had just arrived and would be shipped out immediately. I would have it in 2 days, so I let the order stand.
A week later, still no backdrop so I called again. The same person now told me that it was due in to their warehouse the next day and they would ship it out immediately. I wasn't going to fall for that line again and the shoot I needed it for was the next day so there was no way I would get the backdrop in time.
I canceled the order and requested a refund.
2 weeks more and they finally agree a refund is warranted.
2 more weeks and no refund. I attempt to do a chargeback through my bank but I'm told that I have to allow 30 days from the date of the refund agreement, so I wait the required 30 days and file again.
This time I'm informed that there is nothing they can do because it was more than 90 days from the original purchase date!!!
A few more attempts to get Backdrop Outlet to refund my money all have been in vain.
It's been nearly 5 months now and no backdrop and no refund.
Their staff is Oh so polite and condescending but entirely unhelpful. Tell the mark what they want to hear but don't actually deliver. Keep stalling until they give up.
(I'm not going to give up.)
UPDATE: 2 April 2010 - Perseverance pays off. I finally got a refund 5 months after I canceled the order."
"I ordered a muslin for an event that was three weeks out at the time. The muslin I chose did NOT show backordered at the time I placed the order. The event came and went with no sign of muslin from Backdrop Outlet!! I called & was told it was backordered so I CANCELLED that order and ordered another for quicker turn around time. That was OVER THREE MONTHS AGO!!! I have been given over 10 different PROMISE dates for an item I paid for LITERALLY MONTHS AGO! The item is nowhere in site and each time they give you the NEXT FRIDAY as CERTAIN ARRIVAL DATE! There is NO ITEM! I don't know if they actually EVER SHIP OUT MUSLINS. The same thing happened to a friend ordering just after me - NO MUSLIN EVER SHIPPED! This is a TERRIBLE company to deal with and I'm not certain how they could possibly be in business! Today I called AGAIN for an update and was given NEXT FRIDAY yet again so I have FINALLY cancelled my order and the rep told me she would :turn it over to her manager for credit approval"! What's that mean? There should be no need to "approve" anything - they simply took my money OVER THREE MONTHS AGO, never shipped out anything and should return my money WITH INTEREST and APOLOGY!!!

"I ordered at the end of October 2009, Backdrop Outlet's Five Piece Baby Poser Combo Set. Only after my order did I discover from the company that they had this item on backorder. I was surprised by this because most reputable internet companies clearly list when items are not in stock, and not the other way around. I was promised by e-mail and through instant messaging that this item would be in stock and shipped to me within a week. After said time had passed by and I didn't recieve anything, of course I contacted them back by e-mail and online messaging. They informed me that this item still did not come from their supplier but would for sure the following week. Due to being busy with personal matters I let a few weeks go by, and still nothing was delivered. I contacted them again and once again I got the same excuses about how they have not received the items I ordered and how they would send them out within two weeks, when they would supposedly get them. By the second week of December I received a shipment with only two of the five pieces from the Five Piece Baby Poser. Unsatisfied, I contacted this company again but I received an irritatingly indifferent attitude concerning my problem. I was always promised that once it arrives that they will send it. As of today, February 16th, 2010, I have still not received the last three pieces. Since then, I have found out that this company has a very bad reputation from the Better Business Bureau and I myself have asked the BBB for their assistance. Currently, I have tried to contact the company for at least a partial refund but so far I have not heard back from this company. So far my case has not been resolved and I am doubtful it will be resolved to my satisfaction.
I recommend anyone considering on buying from this company to consider otherwise. You will NOT receive your goods on time, if you will get them at all. Most likely you will be ripped off of your money. It is my opinion from my experience that this company actively deceives unsuspecting customers by falsly making their offered products appear to be in stock, when they are not, and attempts to steal customer's money by not providing what is ordered. There representatives confirm this with their indifferent attitudes to any and all contact, and flies in the face of good solid customer relations. If you order from Backdrop Outlet, you will be sorry, like me.

"Horrendous customer service, didn't even notify me by email that my order was on backorder. Everytime I kept chatting with customer service online, they promised by a certain date with no luck. After the third time, I finally got my request to cancel order. Hopefully they will as I write this, I just got my request, not sure if it will fulfill."
"Order placed July 7th with expedited shipping (arrive within 10 business days). Items received 8 weeks later. Numerous calls placed to inquire about delays. Ordered arrived in pieces, with two items missing. 3 months later, I was informed 1 item was discontinued, but I never received a credit. 2nd missing item was promised to ship after 12 weeks. After 14 weeks my order history disappeared from my account online (though other orders remained). After 16/17 weeks delayed, partial credit received for missing merchandise. Vendor is polite, yet always insists credit is pending in accounting. After 17 weeks, I have gone to my credit card company for assistance."
"DO NOT RECOMEND THIS SITE!! Ordered 1 single item. It was a plastic #2 prop. Very hard to find other places. I orderd it February 11. I was very patient on when it would come. On March 13th (4 weeks later) I sent an e-mail asking about my order and they said they could not track it. It didnt have a tracking number. On April 4th I called them(its has now been 7 weeks) and they said they had no information for me. I recieved it on April 14..TWO MONTHS AFTER I ORDERED IT. "I ordered a crossbar from this company. It took three month and 5 phone calls to finally get my order. When it arrived, it turned out to be a totally different crossbar. Backdrop Outlet flat out refused to assist me. Instead the told me what I should do to make this crossbar usable. "
"I submitted an online order on March 29th for two Raw Muslin pieces for our set. I called on Friday April 3rd to see how the order was doing, which Backdrop Outlet informed me that there was a back order. When I recieved my confirmation of the order - no where on that email does it state that there is a back order. I told them I needed this material immediately and when this back order would be in. They stated to me that wednesday April 8th was when they would be getting another shipment in also the customer service person stated that since it was back ordered that the $15.00 shipping/handling would be waved. I checked online on Thursday April 9th to see when it would be shipped. Online stated that there was still a back order on this product. Friday, April 10th I called and left a message with customer service (it was good friday and they were closed). I left a message on there service stating that I wanted to cancel order. I also after phone call - emailed customer service stating to immediately cancel order as I have found another vendor. I did not get response from them but had to go out of town and was sure that a phone message and email message stating to cancel order was sufficient. Went out of town and the package came in and was signed for, as the individual thought that the order from new vendor had arrived. When I got back on April 24th I was not sure how to proceed and then took package back to FEDEX to be returned. I made subsequent phone calls to confirm the arrival of the return and inthe mean time having cancelled the order the AMEX card had been charged again. Including the $15.00 shipping charge. Their business practices are not good and will not purchase anything from them again."
"BACKDROP OUTLET, DBA DROPS AND PROPS, INC: Listed my partical AMEX complaint number. Wish I had seen Reseller Ratings.com website before ordering from Backdrop Outlet! We ordered and were promised a delivery date for an upcoming television production. When it didn't arrive on time we called. We were THEN told the the product was on backorder! Immediately, we cancelled our order both verbally and in writing-- yes we have the e-mails. (They showed no record) The item was still shipped and arrive a week later-- and we returned it. We protested and were called by the company and told that since we had flagged their account with AMEX that they would not be refunding-- didn't want me to TAKE TWO REFUNDS from them! Imagine that-- they screw up and I'm the criminal. Since, we've been credited $108, but refused the shipping charges. Wow... "
