"My experience with Barnes and Noble was excellent. I have been purchasing Nook ebooks, and more recently applications, since I bought my Nook 1st Edition.
I have a Nook Color that is an amazing product for the price. The availability, selection and price of ebooks from both well-known as well as unknown authors is practically limitless.
I highly recommend the Nook to everyone I meet. The Nook Tablet will be on my wish list for next year.

"I won't purchase from Barnes and Noble again. I haven't liked some of Amazon's policy changes lately, so I thought I'd give Barnes and Noble a try. My last purchase from them ever. First, the item description for items I ordered said they usually ships in 24 hours. I received a notice that they had shipped three days later. That in and of itself wasn't that bad. However, the day after receiving the shipping notice, I received an email at about 5:40 in the morning saying that my order had not in fact shipped, and that I could cancel my order. Since the email did not say when my order would in fact ship, I decided to cancel the order. Within an hour of receiving the email, I clicked through on the link, logged in, and canceled the items. The website said the items were canceled and that it would take up to 80 minutes for the items to show as canceled on the order page. I then placed an order for the items on Amazon. I was annoyed, but I wasn't in a big hurry to receive the items, so it wasn't a big deal. Three hours later Barnes and Noble emails me saying that they will not cancel the order because it is scheduled to ship that afternoon. I contacted customer service saying that is unacceptable, that I already canceled the order, that the website said the order was canceled, and that they were not authorized to charge my credit card. Barnes and Noble refused to cancel the order and charged my card anyway. The item was a gift, so the recipient had to go through the hassle of returning the item. Basically, Barnes and Nobel failed at every step of this order: they didn't ship the item in the estimated time frame, lied about having shipped it, lied about being able to cancel it, lied about actually canceling it, and then charged me anyway. Yeah, I had been thinking of buying a Nook, but after this experience, I'm done with Barnes and Noble - a very simple transaction shows that their system fundamentally does not work at any step in the process."
