"Wow! Things have definately changed. I stopped shopping at Bealls because it had become so trashy about a year ago but apparently there is a new manager who seems to be working really hard at turning the store around. There has been a profound change since I last came in. The only fly in the ointment is the shoe department. It needs an overhaul. It is hard to even get down the aisle to look at what's available. It reminded me of a flea market. And if a cute shoe was seen, good luck trying to find the boxes of that shoe, much less my size. It needs a LOT of attention and the only lady I saw working in there was so grumpy and disheveled herself that it was not a far stretch to understand why that department hasn't followed the improvement lile the rest of the store"

"Again, I am delighted that Shady is back. The store is no longer such a mess. There aren't piles of clothing on the floor everywhere. There are friendly workers who will stop to help if asked. Shady always helps with outfit suggestions and they are great. She genuinely seems happy to be back in the store. And 1 thing that I think is very humble of her is that her name badge just has her name, no 'tand she just gets in there and does whatever is needed and does not flaunt that she is the manager. I also witnessed how she appreciated her employees and thanked them for various things like they were doing her a favor and not their job. She is helpful, friendly and funny and has made Fredericksburg Bealls a great place to shop again. Just 1 thing, it needs a petite department. What happened to it? Shady said that 'my voice is important' to the company and that the corporate office takes what customers say seriously. So, keep Shady until she retires and bring back petites. Thank you."

"If the shoe department would follow the rest of the stores improvement it would be excellent. That show last Marilyn was horrible. She told me she didn't have time to help me because no one would give her any help and she had to do everything by herself and she was doing the best she could. All I asked was where the shoes on sale were. Man is that one unhappy lady. If left alone she could single handedly bring the rest of the store down. But the new manager is great. She made me feel much better and even made me laugh but I could tell she took my concerns very seriously. I know she is new but Shady is probably the best change made in that store, even above the better selection and better organization and look of the store. Keep Shady for sure but get rid of that troll in the shoe department"

Poor customer service (Yvonne)

"My children and I were shopping on August 10th 2019 at this location. I am a single mother of a 7 year old and a 2 year old. It’s not an easy task taking them shopping as is and unfortunately I have a autistic 2 year old. She just goes and goes. She’s not destructive or rude. She doesn’t make a mess, she’s just constantly moving. My 7 year old is a good big sister, very mellow and kind.
Yvonne took it upon herself to be rude to my children. Now I know they were not behaving the best but they were not causing harm to the store. When I asked the lady what was going on, she said they were running, I politely said she is 2. There’s not much I can do. She proceeded to point out my oldest was running, mind you my oldest is just trying to keep up with my 2 year old and keep her in one spot while I find my oldest a pair of school shoes.
I have no problem with a person approaching me and telling me to calm my children or to get them under control of some sort. I’ve done it to other parents, I’ve been in customer service for 15 years, I get it. But DO NOT talk to my children that way, especially a special needs child. I’ve got a big problem with that.
Check your staff bealls, I’ll be back to shop when you’ve handled this situation.
For now you’ve lost a large family of customers.

"This store has had an overhaul. From how the store looks-clean and organized and easy to shop, to the attitude of the workers-very friendly and helpful, to the new manager-Shady is wonderful. She is completely engaged with the store, the customers and her workers. Such a better experience than what I expected. I will certainly be back more often."
