"Placed three orders, all confirmed. Received three cancellations. Called customer care three times, asked for supervisor. They have no idea exactly why they canceled the orders. Could not reinstate the orders and now the product is sold out!
A colossal bunch of incompetents...I even called the Corporate offices, who were "unable" to help and really didn't give a damn!
I shop on-line extensively, take my word on it. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AT BEST BUY! "
"I bought a Toshiba Satelite laptop from the store actually and it was a really good deal. The store has killer deals but their return service is frankly very bad. One laptop my brother bought was damaged and they didn't want to take it back even with the 14 day return period."
"I recently purchase a Samsung HD860 HDMI upscaling DVd player from best buy. I was very eager to go home and test this new DVD player out on my Samsung LNR3228W. However, even asking the Best Buy guy if there was an HDMI included in the box..he said "yes, not the best quality, but it DOES come with one". I brought the HDMI DVD player home to find out IT DIDNT! I have to search for a cable rather then running back out to the store again for the day. I was very unhappy at this poor training. I understand this company doesnt work of commission, but at least know what the hell you are selling or at least the basics otherwise go in a different dept. All of us tech geeks hate people that dont know anything about what they are selling!"
"Horrible. Absolutely horrible. I went here February 11 to return a laptop that had to be sent in for repairs under warranty 5 times (because that's how many they make you wait before giving a replacement). They gave me the cheapest piece of crap laptop they could find in exchange, and it took about an hour to get it. On top of that, it was a display model with a broken wireless card. So the next free day I had (the 25th) I took the new laptop back for another replacement. They made me wait for 1 hour trying to make sure that it was a dead NIC and not just a driver issue. They couldn't figure out how to install the drivers, so eventually I got tired of standing around and took the laptop and re-installed the drivers (it didn't fix the problem) in 1 minute!! Then it took another hour to actually get another replacement laptop! This one is slightly better and actually worth the $1,200 I paid for my old laptop, but their employees are completely incompetent and it's obvious that they don't care about their customers at all!"
"Bought a Toshiba DVD player model SD-3750 from Best buy (BB) in Nov. 2001 for $189.99 (one of their nicest ones) w/ their 4 year Performance Service Plan (PSP) for $49.99 extra, ($240 total plus tax). DVD player would freeze on about every 10th DVD movie, but I thought it was the rental DVD's fault, and forgot I had bought the extended warranty. In 2003 received notice from a class action lawsuit against Toshiba that it was defective and thousands of other consumers had the same problems. Decided not to accept the $50 credit from Toshiba towards another Toshiba DVD player! Then, after struggling with the buggy thing for almost 4 years total, I decided to buy a new one and a new TV too. That's when I discovered that I had bought the extra warranty from BB, and I tried to get them to replace it, as it was bad from day 1, but they insisted it had to be repaired, 14 days left on the 4 yr. warranty. Sent it in, but BB then decided that they wouldn't repair it cuz it would be cheaper for them to give me a new one - a cheap $50 new one! Not acceptable to me, since I paid $240 plus tax for the Toshiba and PSP. BB refused to issue me store credit for the original purchase price, an option they had in their PSP. I started making calls to BB to resolve this problem, then found out BB went ahead and threw away MY old Toshiba DVD player (w/out my OK or any written notice). That was 4 months ago, and I still haven't resolved this! BB was so rude, deceptive, and unprofessional that I started recording my tel. calls. (Radio Shack device). BB hung up on me, put me on hold forever, etc. Now must file a complaint with the Attorney General's office. This has been so stressful that it has negatively affected my health.
Feb. 2008 Update: Son and I went to Bestbuy (BB) to buy a $19.99 product with a $20 Rewards Certificate. Cashier said we'd HAVE to buy an additional product to put our total over $20, exclusive of taxes. We refused, spoke to manager, who was rude, controlling, aggressive, defensive, and asked us to leave!!! Called corporate to complain, but they didn't care. Guess customers just aren't worth 1 penny to Bestbuy!"
"This company is quick to make a sale, telling the customer anything he/she wants to hear to get the deal done. However, when it comes to servicing its equipment the whole story changes. They forgot to mention the warranty offered for the merchandise didn't cover any moving parts. They also failed to mention that although a product had only been used for less than a 2 hour period it had to be returned within 30 days to receive money back. It seems as if this is how Best Buy stays in business selling faulty equipment they know will last only a few hours or days beyond the 30-day period thinking you will return to purchase again - NOT. This is the second time Best Buy has burned me in this fashion - I don't plan to give them the satisfaction of a third!"
"I purchased a game for my niece for her birthday. I upgraded to second day delivery but BestBuy did not deliver it to the shippers for two days and the shipper does not deliver on weekends. As you can imagine the delivery was late. Dealing with customer service was a nightmare!! First there was the inablity to contact them using their email link, then there was the non-delivery of emails responding to my complaints logged on the Web survey they kindly sent. Next there was the horrible phone interface of their "customer cares" line. Their response was "not our fault, it was delivered second day from when it was packaged" they had NO answer for why it took two days to package it for the shipper."
"I'm precisely the shopper Best Buy wants, and now will not only never have, but will wear a hat with a bright blinking light on it that says, Stay Away From Best Buy.
I purchased a pc cd-rom game, off the shelf, $30 cash. A lucky find, or so I thought, didn't work, the install process would fail, but seem to succeed. Maybe the cd was bad, who knows. I'd exchange it the next day.
The girl behind the counter looked at the receipt and box as if it were a dead frog, icky, it's not my problem. She said "This is opened, and you can't get your money back". I replied, "I want to exchange it, I only saw one copy on the shelf yesterday, but I'll look." So I went off to the aisle, where I got the box the day before and over the intercom comes "code something or other to customer service", little did I know that that was my helpful customer service agent siccing the Best Buy Security Force upon me, where then they blocked off both ends of the aisle (This is the Cambridge, MA. store, I'd name names if I remembered them) while I was searching, unwittingly, for another copy of my broken game. The shelves go down to foot level, and I had to scrunch down (I'm a strapping 6 footer) and look, I then saw the yellow jersey and got up and asked if this guy had seen another copy of this title, "I don't work in this department..." After discovering he was assigned to watch me(!) I then went back to the customer service desk and saw the manager talking with the clerk with whom I was talking earlier. She approached me and condescendingly wrote a name on a business card and slid in along the counter top with her index finger, "Contact his person if you have a problem with our service. I don't have to exchange or refund anything."
In a surreal moment, I wondered if I was on some game show, or being punk'd, or that (all participants were of the same race) ... but no, it was just this : SUCKER! WE GOT YOU!
I rudely finger flicked the card back at her and told her to keep the $30, enjoy it while it lasts, and I'll keep my game a souvenier of this occasion.
Which I still have, and I'll burn it when Best Buy goes out of business. You have been warned smart shopper, avoid Best Buy. Crutchfield.com, Sears.Com and NewEgg.com are superior choices. "
"Was Mislead by a customer service/sales agent. Was informed that the camera I purchased had certain features which it did not. When returning the product, the manager said he would need to talk to that agent who was not on premises. Charged a 15% restocking fee and was completely rude about it in the process. Will never shop at Best Buy again."
"1) Best Buy.com advertises games for preorder and does not ship them on time. I had this happen on 4 games, 2 not popular.
2) Best Buy.com does NOT offer exchanges. This is a serious problem. If an item is on sale, and breaks within a few days, but the sale is over, prepared to be engaged in a major hassle with an Indian call center. Usually a Best Buy brick and mortar store manager will help, but Best Buy.com is impossible to communicate with.
3) BBest Buy.com uses an off-shore call center. These employees are difficult to communicate with and do not help or clearly and thoroughly communicate the information that you give them.
I have had excellent experiences at Best Buy store, but I do not recomment Best Buy.com to anyone, even if there are good prices. You are risking many hours of hassle if something out of the ordinary happens."
"I bought a computer, their warrrranty, antivirus software, amoung other things. They lied to me about what the warranty would cover. When they installed the software, they add a few things that would prevent me from installing the antivirus software when it ran out, so I had to take it to them each year, and pay them to install it. I did not want to do that, and that is when I found out that they had installed a Ghost program. I will never do any business with that Co. ever again!"
"Customer service is just terrible. People are very rood and not helpful at all.
I tried to return a defective camera but their 'tech' determined that 'it is nothing wrong'..
Camera is defective, but their tech can actually tell what ever he feel. He refused to even listen my explanation what exactly is wrong - I'm sure that it is a company policy.
It was only 3 days after purchase. I will put on dispute a credit card charge anyway because the product is defective but 'Best Buy' will never admit it.
The other issue is a 'Best Buy' price match guarantee - completely false advertisement.
They also refused to match the price for that product to to the B&H photo store advertised price ($50.00 less).
Motivation - it is not a local retailer while the distance between these 2 stores is less than 26 miles...
But I do see a very positive buying experience with 'Best Buy' - NEVER SHOP there again ever !
I was almost ready to buy a big screen HDTV for over $5,000 - no way. They lost my business for ever.
Not just mine - all my friends, relative, coworkers - I will advice to all of them NEVER shop at 'Best Buy'.
Their return and price guarantee policies are a scam.
There are better stores around.

"I ordered an air purifier from them. I called to make sure it was in stock and they told me it was. I place the order and a day later they inform me that thje item has to be backordered. I had made it clear how important it was to have this shipped quickly and am less than thrilled that they screwed up the order."
"Very smooth process. I ordered a tripod that was only available online. I would have liked to pick it up at the store, but it was not available for that.
Checkout was great. I was able to use two gift cards and enter my Reward Zone number to get the points for the purchase.
The order was shipped quickly and delivered as expected.
My only complaint is that I've been hit with 3 surveys since I made the order. I understand that they want to know how they did, but 3 surveys for one order might be a bit much."
"I purchased 2 ink carts. from bestbuy.com and had nothing but trouble picking up my order from the store and them giving me the price I purchased them for online. I spent 45min in the store and another hour on the phone with 888-bestbuy and they were still unable to resolve my issue."
