Is Brecks Bulbs a Scam?

"Is Breck’s Bulbs a scam? Read on. You decide.
I ordered 33 tulip bulbs, 4 different varieties, on 1st September 2020. The expected shipping date was 14th September.
I contacted customer support on 1st October and was told they would not be shipped until 22nd October. I asked them if I was supposed to light a fire to thaw the ground.
I live just west of Edmonton Alberta Canada. Latitude 53.5
On 16 October the temperature dropped below freezing, 0 deg C, and stayed there until 25 October. It went as cold as -15.7 C.
I dug 4 gaping holes in my nice white gravel garden after it froze. It looks horrible. Then we got a small break in the weather. End of October and early November. Highs of 10, 12 and 17 C Nights above or slightly below freezing. There was still hope.
It is now the 3rd of November and I just looked and they still have not been shipped yet. From Holland. On a cargo ship that will need to clear customs in Canada before my bulbs get mailed to me by Canada Post.
I am quite tired of looking at the holes in the garden. They will soon be covered with snow. I am tired of looking at the bone meal and Miracle Grow soil in the garage. It will a miracle if my tulips grow. I am copying and pasting the following from their propaganda which I was dumb enough to believe.
“Breck's times its shipments from Holland so that bulbs arrive at the proper planting time (depending on climatic conditions) for each area of Canada.
We take advance reservations, and then just as soon as the crops are harvested, our staff of Dutch Bulb Experts makes an on-the-spot selection of the finest bulbs available to fill those reservations.
Once your order has been packed, it will be loaded on a cargo ship bound for Canada directly from Holland. The shipment will need to clear Customs where it will then be transported to your home. We ship via Canada Post.”
So. Is Breck’s Bulbs a scam? They are defiantly unethical and have misleading business practices. I have also been bombarded with sales e-mail ad’s from them. I am a one and done customer. I will submit this after I receive the bulbs and conclude with the date received. The ponds are frozen over. I would recommend to nobody. Lesson learned. Read reviews first.

This Company IS Not As Marketed

"I have ordered several items. Bogus responses to emails, can't track although the order states shipped. I contacted Customer service explaining the situation via email. I get an automated email thanking me for my order, and items have shipped. When I called about the item stating they were shipped Oct 31, I ws told they were shipped though no tracking no. Nove 1 I receive another email stating items were shipped. One item I received on the 30th of October stating the other was out of stock. I called and asked for a refund, I was told my credit card was not charged (which it was) so no refund. This company is a fraudulent company. DO NOT BUY HERE> GO TO A REPUTABLE NURSERY!!!!!!!"

Should have checked reviews first - Buy local

"Don't waste your time. Shipping times mean nothing. Shipping anything to Edmonton for mid November makes no sense. Don't even ask why cancelling order or try to make anything right. Obviously happens a lot. Buy local."

NEVER RECEIVED ITEM ORDERED!

"I Ordered my item on 8-21-20 and was told they would ship the item no later then October 8 well its the end of the month and no shipping. Instead they decided to cancel my order and not call or email or anything to inform me that item i needed for my landscape was not coming Now i have nothing for the main part of the landscape. No i would not advice to buy through Brecks there 50/50 of if you'll get what you ordered or not"

"My order was to be delivered by 9/15 and here it is 10/13 and no delivery in sight. Brecks say at least 2 more weeks and no refunds or cancellation of orders! ridiculous!

Soft,moldy and dead / bulbs

"I placed an order June 2020. Received 2 (dead and moldy Iris bulbs on September. Two other orders was out of stock .Did not get any email to inform me about short order. They refund the money for the 2 items /out if stock But the 2 bulbs I planted dated Sept ember , showing no sign of growth..roots are dried and bulbs are soft.as of today October 10.2020. VERY Diisappointing,waiting for so long just to get a bad product! Not a very good customer experience from Becks!"

Worst company EVER

"They delayed the shipment and then delayed again and again. Finally said one item is out of stock, but NO REFUND. Today the plants arrived and, surprise, they are dead. Out of the 10 I ordered there is a slim chance 3 or 4 may survive, but they are so dried out it is doubtful.
They have the nerve to blame all of this on the virus crisis. How does a virus impact sending out dead plants? I really wish I found this link before I ordered. Sadly, I confused their name with another company that starts with a "B" and just went it.
Stay away from them. There is zero chance it will end well for you.

Did not send order

"On June 15 I ordered two items for fall planting. The first arrived in early August and the emailed shipping confirmation said the balance of the order was estimated to ship August 31. On September 15 I followed-up and was told the items would ship in March, or nine months after I placed the order. I was waiting for my order so that I could begin fall planting. No one at Breck's bothered to phone, email, or send a letter telling me they did not have the items I ordered months ago. Customer service was terrible, as well. I had to punch through an initial menu, then the overseas customer service representative insisted on confirming every bit of my contact information despite the fact they had my order number and could have simply told me the order wasn't coming as scheduled. Other nurseries have stock as good as Breck's and service that is even better. I will not be ordering again from Breck's."

Poor quality plants and poor service!

" I ordered miniature hollyhocks. We didn't get them until the middle of June. I planted them that day and called today to say there is no sign of plant growth to which the service person responded I have to wait 4 more weeks. That means these biennials will have no substantial plant growth in the first year (if they are even alive). I also bought baby's breath. I have no idea if they will grow but at least I can get them from my local nursery next spring. I will not purchase plants again from Breck's."

"It took four weeks for delivery. I ordered ten plants. Not one of them came up. I asked for their lifetime guaranteed money back two weeks ago via email. I have yet heard from them."

"There are several issues with this company:
Their representatives cannot communicate in english properly.
They claim free post with purchases over 100.00. I paid for all my deliverys except once. ( 900.00 PURCHASE)

Terrible Product & Service

"Ordered product in Mar received in mid April. Planted and they still have not come up by Jun 1st. Call customer service was told to wait another 6 weeks for them to come up. Asked for refund, they only give store credits. I purchased from them years ago and they were okay. Will never purchase again. My order was over $250 and I get this kind of service. They should shut the doors and the customer should look elsewhere. Save your self the stress of buying from them."

Mystery Daffodils are Tulips

"Well, they delivered on time and all of the bulbs grew. This was a gift for my mom, and if course she says she loves the basket anyways. But they make it sound like you're going to get cool new daffodils. One plain yellow daffodil came up, and the rest were red tulips. "

Horrible service

"I ordered 50.00 worth of plants from Breck's. I did get a confirmation email but nothing had shipped in a week. I emailed customer service and they responded TWO weeks later saying they were sorry. They said some were shipping from Holland but some would not ship til fall. Why did they charge my credit card immediately? Why did they not respond until it was too late for me to cancel or dispute the charge? Worse online ordering service ever! ZERO stars!"
