"I agreed to purchase a Nikon D100 digital camera. The salesman did a hard-sell number and pushed several accessories, and at the end also promoted their "executive" kit (or something similar to that name) at another $300 or more. I refused that, and we agreed on the items, totalling around $2800. My credit card company declined the charge from Broadway of about $3200 - mysteriously the added "executive or whatever" kit had been added to the total. I called Broadway back, got another high-pressure salesman who wanted to sell more extras, and we finally agreed on exactly what I was buying and the prices.
I asked for 2-day shipping for $45. Box arrived the next day with a $196 shipping charge. It included a grey-market import camera, not the USA Nikon Warranty camera I was told I'd get, it was missing the Nikon flash unit, but included the expensive "enhancement filter" I absolutely did not want. The small print on the invoice said that there was a one-year "in-store" warranty included; not much good in California. I figure that there are $500 to $600 of overcharges on this order not including the $196 shipping charge. The camera included a photocopied User Manual - certainly a violation of federal copyright law (Nikon, you reading this?) as well.
Buyer Beware - these guys appear to have the items in stock, but they'll twist your arm very hard to add extras, and they may charge you for added items anyway, and they may send out non-warranty import models instead of what they say they'll send.
Also found that the super-offer of a 3 year extended warranty (worth over $500!) I paid $350 for is worth about $50, and may be close to worthless in any case. Too late now. Wish I'd found this site earlier!
Broadway doesn't send out rebate certificates, claiming that their prices already have the rebate taken off. Their invoice gives one price for everything, so one has no idea how much was charged for each item. I'll never buy from them again. Extremely disappointed with Broadway Photo, and I am returning everything to them, and filing complaints with the credit card company, NY Department of Consumer Affairs, the city's Attorney General, Better Business Bureau, and may even sic friends living in Brooklyn on them.
These guys give New Yorkers a bad name!

"Beware of these carpetbaggers! They list a low
price and then try to add-on items til the
cows come home. Rude and underhanded business
practices abound. Beware!"
"I just ordered a digital cam corder from them. Before I ordered I called customer service and asked details about what it came with. They gave me all the right answers, so after discussing it with my wife we decided to go ahead and order. Well, for convinience, I ordered on line at their web site. I was contacted by "Drew" in customer service, who, after much discussion, called me a fool for thinking that this camera came in English, that what I was getting was grey market and everthing would be in Japanese! The box would be empty except for the camera, so if I wanted it to work I would have to buy EVERYTHING!!! from them! Or, I could pay an extra $100 for the USA version. Well, I told him that I would have to think about it. Then, I called the sales department and asked about the camera, recording the conversation. I was told that it WOULD be in English, the box would have the usual starter kit (battery, cables, ect.) and that of course it was all in English. I then told him what the customer service rep said. He sounded truly shocked and upset by what he heard. He transferred me to a different Customer service rep. who transferred me back to the one who called me a fool. My "buddy" Drew continued to call me a fool, told me that whoever said differently was a liar, and I canceled my order. Just to be sure, I made sure that he knew I was Recording the conversation got him to then reiterate the fact that I wouldn't be charged knowing that I was recording. DON'T DEAL WITH THEM!!! They are All Liar's, Cheaters, Shady dealers, and Rude to you!!

"If it sounds too good to be true - it definitely is - especially with digital liquidators. We had the same experience as others. But I even called before ordering for specific confirmation that the model was the US model - complete - with a manual in English and a warranty. I was given verbal confirmation of those facts so we ordered. When I called to "confirm" I learned of the need to purchase a warranty and was offered an UPGRADE to the us model. I asked to speak to the representative's (PETE) boss but, amazingly, he wasn't available. I cancelled the order. Does anyone know of a legitimate place to find a Canon G3 digital camera? contact ****@****."
"The whole point of online shopping is lost on these folks. After I submitted my purchase for an Olympus c-740 digital camera at the website I got an e-mail the next day asking to call and confirm my order (what?, my order didn't go through?). Upon calling, they proceeded to pressure me into buying add-on after add-on. This was a full-on, high pressure, sales pitch. "You should buy:" a lens set, an extra battery, more memory, a card reader, and an extended warranty with a carrying case thrown in. Further, the salesman revealed that the camera was actually NOT under USA warranty, that it was in fact under international warranty (this was NOT mentioned anywhere on the product page). After refusing to buy the warranty I asked to have my order cancelled and was obliged, but only after being offered a lower price on the warranty. A practice in saying "no" - repeatedly. Absolute waste of my time."
"DON'T BUY FROM THESE RUDE IDIOTS! I purchased a panasonic PV-DV953 camcorder from this place. Tried to purchase over the the net but had to contact them by phone to confirm order(ya right).
You need to contact them so they can try and pressure you into buying extras for your camera. They are extreamly rude and pushy. I will NEVER buy from this poor excuse of a company again, no matter how good the price looks.
Run from this place as fast as you can!!"
"This is the worst experience I’ve ever had.
I found a good deal (Elan7E with 28-200mm Zoom at 499.99) on their web. They claim “Shop with Confidence! Every product we carry is brand new, factory fresh & carries a one year limited warranty.” So I placed an order with a gadget bag at 29.99. The shipping was 19.99. The total was 549.97. So far so good.
Then the story changed here. I got an email from them, telling me to call them. I called several times, but had been always kept waiting. At last, I was able to talk to a human being. He asked me whether I want an international warranty at 99.99. I said NO. But he told me that there is no warranty comes with the camera. When I asked why they said everything has warranty, he said “Oh, that’s for digital cameras only.” (In English, if it is for something ONLY, you don’t say EVERYTHING.) He asked whether I want a one year USA warranty at 29.99. I thought it would be safer to have one, so I agreed. At this time, I presumed the total would be 579.96 as math suggested.
When I checked my charges on the credit card, I was surprised to see that they charged me 629.99. I sent them email but they asked me to call them. I went through the painful waiting on the phone again. This time, they told me that the charge was not a mistake. They said the warranty that I ordered was a “7 year international warranty” at 79.99. I said that I only wanted the one year warranty and asked for a 50 credit back. He said “we do not credit the 50 back. You must return the whole package to get a full-refund. If you want to dispute the credit card charge, go ahead and dispute. Have a nice day.” And hanged my phone very rudely.
Even if that the charge was for the 7 year warranty, the total should be 629.96 instead of 629.99. I don’t believe any decent company will make such mistake. I think they lied to me all the time.
Today (June 2), I got a message in my answering machine, saying that the package that I refused was bounced because of the wrong apartment number, and asked me to give them the correct address. It's amazing that they lied in such an stupid way, UPS indicated clearly that the package was REFUSED. What a company!"
"I wish I saw this web site before ordering. You think online ordering was easy until you get a "verification" email telling you to call customer service. Apparently you have to call to make sure you entered everything correctly on the web site, then comes the sales pitch for rechargable battery system, 5 yr warranty, case, etc.
Even if that doesn't sound too bad, the telephone experience I had was enough to prevent any future business with these bozos. Long waits on hold, left a voicemail that was not returned, disconnected once when put on hold -- had to make 6 calls to finally get someone to "verify" my order."
"NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!
I found a great price for a sony pd150 at this site, and ordered it. I received an email stating that I needed to call them to confirm my order. When I called I got very pushy, rude customer service rep that tried to sell me a battery at a "sale" price ($100 more than other online dealers) and tried to pressure me into a $700 warranty. I declined. Later that week I received another email about confirming my order. I called to find that my order had not been sent and then had to deal with the warranty sales pitch again. When I declined, I was informed that only cameras being purchansed with a warranty were in stock. I confronted them about false advertising, and then was told that the camera would be available at the price advertised online in 3-4 weeks. I cancelled my order. They were rude and in my opinion dishonest. I would not recommend doing business with this company."
"I ordered a camera from these losers, and attempted to "track my order" via their website. I got a message saying I had to call a specific number and extension. When I called (several times) I got an answering machine and hung up. I finally reached the "salesperson", who said that my order had not been shipped.
He said that the company sent me an email to "verify my identity", and that I hadn't responded, so they didn't ship it yet. He then confirmed my mailing address and tried to sell me "rechargeable batteries and a rapid charger" for $79 with a $30 rebate. I said I'd call back, then checked online for more info about this company.
I did not get the email, nor did I get it when two other reps "resent" it. I verified my email address with them over the phone, and it was correct.
I wish I had checked online about these people earlier. After several frustrating conversations with Customer Service reps and managers, I canceled my order and registered a complaint with the BBB.
Do not use them!"
"Took five ays from when I called them about different shipping aress to finally ship the proudct"
"BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS (www.bwayphoto.com)
I was lured by their great price, only $550 for a Canon G3, but noticed that their memory, filters and warranty were very, very expensive (about double or triple other resellers). I decided to purchase the camera only.
I received an email the same day to "confirm my order". The phonecall (Ext. 279) was really a high pressure sales call. The sales person tried to sell me a warranty for $250 ("if it breaks within 90 days, you'll have to pay a $300 inspection fee + $200 per hour in labor".
I later found out that they're selling 5-yr Mack warranties, which you can buy elsewhere for $50.
Oh, and how can I forget about the filters? Crystal Optics 3-piece kit for $200? Because I'm buying a camera, he'll give it to me for $140. Oh wait, because I'm special, lets make it $120. You can buy these for less than $100 anywhere on the Net.
When I said that you could by it elsewhere for less, he actually said that these "were professional quality" and that "they were the exclusive distributor" so it should be more expensive.
Exclusive? Really? So nobody else is allowed to distribute Crystal Optics filters but Broadway Photo? He quickly backed away from that claim and said "do you know how many of these we sell everyday?"
Since I did need a filter to protect the lens, I asked him for a manufacturer's model number. He said that "there wasn't one". I asked him how a manufacturer could make a product without product number. He said he didn't have it in his computer.
He kept trying to sell me the warranty, battery and filter kit, even after I told him I didn't want it and I wanted him to process my order for the camera only.
After 10 minutes of this nonsense, I had to hangup on him and phone customer service to ask them to process the order or I would cancel it and block the charge on my credit card. Customer service promised that they'll ship the next day, so I should receive next week.
They were still processing the order on day 4. Another phonecall on day 6, still not shipped.
During the day 6 phonecall, I decided that it was time to cancel my order. The girl started to read off the same script the first salesperson used to explain why my order hadn't been shipped. I couldn't believe she was going to start the up-sell again. Forget it, I'm cancelling the order.
At least they didn't charge my credit card; it's the only thing they did right.
Unless you like paying 200% to 300% extra for your accessories and high pressure sales tactics, I would steer clear of these folks."
"They are up to not good, after placing an order you need to call..they told me there was no warranty on the camera, and I needed to pay another $80 for that. When I said no and asked if the camera was in stock, he asked if I knew what a "gray market" camera was. I said it did not sound like a company I wanted to do business with and cancelled the order..He then got very nasty with me and I hung up."
"Digital Liquidators is my WORST online shopping experience ever for last 7 years since I first shopped online!!! This is a very unethical reseller.
I ordered Sony CD Mavica (Digital Camera) MVC-CD400 in the beginning of April, and it sent me an email to ask me to call to confirm the order on 4/9/2003. It turned out that the salesman there tried to talk me into getting OVERPRICED accessories and warranty. They were really annoying and didn't give up even after I REPEATLY refused. Finally, they gave in and I ordered just the camera and told me that it will be delivered SOON.
As of today 4/29/2003, I still haven't received the camera, not even a single phone call or email from them. So I called them. The customer representative was VERY RUDE. I was very polite and asked why I still haven't received it after 1 month. He told me that the camera was being shipped from oversea by boat(what?!! by boat), and it would take at least 6 WEEKS to reach USA, it excluded the time for delivery to me. I said they NEVER told me that it was a foreign version in the first place and it would take more than 6 weeks for them to START shipping when I called them to confirm the order in the beginning of April. He insisted that he did tell me that. His tune was VERY RUDE the whole time, and it's like it's my fault for wasting his time for asking the status of my order which was already 1 month ago. I said oh yeah, if he told me about more than 6 weeks for them to START shipping and it was a foreign version, does he think that I would still agree to purchase it in the beginning?! He said that I MUST be NOT paying attention when calling them to confirm the order 1 month ago!!! What?!!! HOW RUDE!!! What kind of customer service was that?!!
This was not an individual case, I later called 2 more seperate times talking to 2 different customer representatives and they were ALL VERY RUDE with similar stories!!! So it showed that this was the culture of this reseller, not just 1 or 2 bad apples in the company. Of course, I cancelled the order because I figured that I might NEVER receive the camera, I won't trust the quality of the camera even if it ever comes. And from their tunes, they didn't care if I cancelled the order, maybe it's because I didn't order their HIGHLY OVERPRICED accessories and warranty.
This company basically lists the price of items very low, then forces you to call them to confirm the order and tries to sell you HIGHLY OVERPRICED accessories and warranty during confirmation. If you give in and buy those bad brand (generic) accessories and warranty, you may receive your items. But in this case, you will lose a lot of money in the whole deal because you were OVERCHARGED for those crappy accessories. If you refused to give in, they will NOT give you the USA version. They will just ship you the foreign version WITHOUT telling you, or the item may NEVER come in the first place, or it may take more than 6 weeks for them to START shipping if at all.
STAY AWAY!!! You will never get what you want from Digital Liquidators and don't expect any help from these people, all you can expect is RUDENESS and waste of time!!!

"Surprised by the so so ratings. I had no problem making an order with this company. Sales person was quite helpful, on my order. The order process was painless and easy
