"I almost didn't order from Butterfly Photo. The first two times I called I was put on hold and minutes later got disconnected. I figured the third time was a charm. I got connected to Justin (extension #214), who explained they were having trouble with the phone system, which I have no reason to doubt, having experienced the same problems before myself.
I experienced NO negative vibes from this purchase, whatsoever! Justin did his job and asked me if I wanted to buy any memory or a battery, but was polite and friendly about his approach. When I explained I really couldn't afford anything else at this time, he said, "No problem", and continued the order process. The camera did NOT go mysteriously out of stock, he did NOT magically turn into a jerk, UNLIKE other salesmen at certain OTHER NY camera stores I've encountered in my quest for this camera. I expected to receive the camera in 7-10 working days after approval of my credit card info.
TWO HOURS after placing the order I received an email confirming SHIPMENT of my order!!! Yes, there was a FedEx tracking number in that email. I promptly checked the FedEx tracking site and found out it had been shipped 2nd day!
The FedEx truck just dropped off my brand new A2, a mere 43 HOURS after giving Justin my credit card info! And this was with free shipping! I am completely BLOWN AWAY!
I looked on the side of the interior Minolta box, it said "Spanish Manual Included", and I got a little nervous. I opened the box, pulled out the packet with manuals, CDs, etc, and saw "International Warranty"... got more nervous... unfolded it more, and there it was...the U.S. Warranty card! ....WHEW! There was the English manual, right next to the Spanish manual.....complete relief! Camera is in perfect shape, not a scratch or nick on it, completely brand new, from an apparently never-before -opened box...not too bad for $727, shipped to my door in Ohio, from New York.
Since I bought it, they dropped the price $25. I'm NOT going to complain... :)

"Fast shipping, great pricing. I received an e-mail to contact them about my order and they tried to sell some more accessories, but in a non-pushy manner. I did not purchase anything extra and they shipped it that day. I received it in a good shape on August 12. It is true that they did not put anything in the package (like airbags or something), but I think it will be fine. I would order from them again."
"Not the best online purchase I've made. Used the account information to call me at work to try to get me to buy 1) memory, 2) batteries, and 3) a warranty. Then tried to push for extra fees to 'expedite' the shipment without which, the caller said, it would take 7 to 10 days after it took 3 days to process. I did buy the warranty but nothing else.
This was a Thursday afternoon. Thursday night I received notice of shipment. Tuesday it arrived. So obviously the 'expedite' fees are a sales tactic to extract money. If they hadn't called me at work and I had received it in 5 days, I would have be very happy with the purchase.
Additionally, The camera package was supposed to have a 16 MB secure digital card. It did not. The mfrs package was opened. The box it shipped in was not. I'll see how they resolve that."
"On-line shopping at Butterfly Photo was easy and straight forward. Like most on-line stores, shopping is as easy as a few clicks. I spent so little time at the website, I don't really recall anything special, different or negative about my experience. I simply ordered and received my order in a few days. There are a couple things to the ordering process that you must know, however, that I wasn't aware of, but didn't impact my shopping experience. As others have mentioned, they do give you a followup call to make sure the shipping information is correct. I'm not too sure if that is the real intent of the call, but more likely to sell you some overpriced accessories or warranties. Still, the caller was not overly pressuring. The other thing that I have not noticed from other mail order shops is the specific instructions on the shipping box to the FedEx driver not to accept a written signature on a note and leave the merchandise without a person to person sign and deliver.
Overall, this was a good shopping experience.

"I am very happy that I went with Buttefly Photo. I actually ordered two things: A Sony DCR-DVD201 camcorder and a Fuji S5000 digicam. I did encounter a mild sales pitch on the digicam accessories but not on the camcorder. It was a very mild inconvenience considering the substantial savings. I figure I save about $100 on the camera and about $300 on the camcorder. Both items were great and came as described. Thanks Butterfly!
I should also mention that I first had some shady dealings with other online companies and I feel like Butterfly Photo can definately be trusted."
"The BBB does not recommend Butterfly Photo due to their business practices. After dealing with them I agree with their analysis. I ordered a NIKON 5700 digital camera from Butterfly Photo (BP). It arrived and I took three pictures and it broke. I called BP and they said that I needed a firmware update. Nikon said that was a lie, there is no way a firmware update would fix the problem. I called BP and they said that I could not return the camera because I had cut off the UPC for the rebate. I asked them why and they said they would not be able to resell the item if the UPC was taped on the box (I guess they resell refurbished cameras). I was very disappointed with there so called 10 day exclusive exchange/refund. I am going on an African vacation in a few weeks and I have no camera. I later learned they are not an authorized Nikon dealer. I may have saved some money by using BP, but they hung me out to dry. Spend the extra money and buy from an authorized dealer."

"I ordered a Canon Optura 40, a day later I receive an email from Joey to contact him concerning my order. Once I contact him, he tries to sell accessories for the camcorder which I decline. He informs me the item is in stock and I will receive an email with the tracking #. I contact them today August 2nd and I was informed the item will be in stock in couple of days. I had emailed them twice prior to today's call with no response. I cannot recommend this vendor to anyone. I just hope I get my credit within a reasonable amount of time."
