"My experiance with Butterfly Photo was basicly a pleasant one. I was a bit skeptical when I first placed my order, since the price on the Canon Digital Rebel kit I purchased was pretty much the lowest of any internet based store I found. Most of the reviews I read about Butterfly were good, so that eased my mind significantly.

As many others have said, I did get a email asking me to call to confirm my order, and I did get a realtively mild sales pitch to buy some of the accessorys they sell for the camera I purchased. After explaining that I had everything I needed a couple times, I was told my order would be shiped out within 24 hours. Basicly from the time I placed the order to the the time it was actualy shiped, was about 2 full business days, wich is pretty much what they advertise anyway, so it'd be hard to complain about that.

The price was clost to 20% cheaper then many other camera/electronic retailers I looked at. There were a couple others that advertised more or less the same price, but of all the low price leaders I found, Butterfly had the best ratings by consumers, so that's mainly why I went with them.

Butterfly's accessorys seemed quite high priced to me, perticularly when you compare them to the great deal I got on the camera itself. Sort of makes me wonder why they don't just offer good deals on everything and make money on volume..."

"The short version - these people treat you nicely, have great prices and they send you exactly what you ordered. Why wouldn't you buy here?

Longer version - Butterfly had the best price on the Web for the Minolta DiMage A2. Well, the best price if you don't count several well-known scammers with one-point-something ResellerRatings. Butterfly had a good rating so I took a chance and ordered the camera online. Uh-oh, The next business day there was an email in my Inbox saying to call Ken at Butterfly. Here comes the old New York flim-flam where my camera isn't ever in stock unless I buy a bunch of overpriced extras, right? Nope. Ken courteously verified my shipping address then said my camera would ship in the next few days. Butterfly was as good as its word - the camera shipped that day, they sent it FedEx and sent me the tracking number. It arrived today as scheduled and is exactly as advertised - brand new, not reconditioned, with the USA warranty and with everything Konica-Minolta bundles with the camera.

Wait, it gets better. The day after I ordered from Butterfly, my credit card company's fraud department called to say they had blocked the charge Butterfly made to my card. I had ordered a camera from an Amazon Marketplace vendor the day before but Amazon emailed to say they couldn't/wouldn't honor the low price the vendor advertised and that they were cancelling my order and wouldn't charge my card. But they did charge my card. Nice, huh? That made MBNA suspect fraud so they blocked Butterfly's charge and called me. Of course, I told them to un-block Butterfly's charge immediately and called Butterfly to tell them to put the charge through the system again. It turns out they had already shipped my camera and were going to call me about the bounced charge but hadn't gotten around to it yet. Howz THAT for customer service?

So, if you're tempted by the low prices some New York dealers advertise but are afraid to order from them, in many cases you probably should be. But before you give up, give Butterfly a try. I did and I'm a very happy customer.
