"I ordered a Nikon Cooplix on May 20th and Butterfly photo charged my credit card on the 25th. They never game me a ship date and I had to call every day and wait on hold for an average of over 30 minutes. I was informed every day that my camera would ship that day. The camera never shipped... When I finally got tired of waiting for them to tell me the truth and asked to cancel my order, the sales rep was very rude. They have not yet refunded my money which they charged my CC on the 25th. They could not even tell me why the delay.
Extremely dissapointed with customer service and find lack of honesty very troublesome. I will not shop here again. Not sure how long it will take for them to refund my money now... for a product they never shipped."

The main drawback to this company was the fact that there is no mention of shipping charges to Hawaii until the order is actually placed and someone calls you at home. I placed my order and checked to make sure that the shipping was free, compared to some sites that charged a ridiculous amount to ship to Hawaii and was later told that I had to pay for shipping....Hawaii is a part of the United states. "I spent probably 2 or 3 full days researching places online because I wanted to buy a canon 300d digital rebel, and seemingly 90% of the places online that sell it for less than retail price are bait and switch scam artists. Eventually I decided to go with Butterfly Photo as the place that seemed to have the best reputation for the price of the camera and because a friend had successfully purchased a camera from them. I was scared to death because my time was running out to get the camera and because it's expensive. I was terrifically surprised! It took them forever to process the order (4 business days, 6 days total) but then instead of the free UPS Ground I had signed up for, they sent it via Fedex 2 Day Air for free. The camera arrived in perfect condition and fully functional. They didn't charge my account until they shipped the camera. A nearly perfect experience."
"After a terrible experience w/ another NY camera outfit in which I had to cancel my order I found this site and thought I would give Butterflyphoto.com a try. I made my purchase online late friday and received a call sunday to confirm. The CSR advised me that I would get an email to confirm when it ships, they also have a tracking dept w/ online access. I never received the email but the online info did indicate when it went to billing on monday and shipping on tuesday. I called to get the tracking number on Wednesday and tracked through Fedex after that, I received on Thursday. Overall I am satisfied but email confirmation either were never sent or somehow blocked by my email server...either way i would probably use them again."

The second day I got an email from the company, they ask for confirmation of the credit card. I called, then the guy ask if I want any accessiory, i said no, that's all, then I am all set. "Extremely satisfied with Butterfly Photo. Order was placed on 4/28/04 (wednesday), for an Olympus C-750. Very same day I was contacted to confirm order, and that it will be shipped out the next day. Then on 5/3/04, i recieved the camera. Brand new with 1 year warranty, as it should have been!
I was asked to purchase additional items to go along with the camera, but I politely declined the offer, and they were all cool with it, no hassle.

"We needed a camcorder by Thurday, so we ordered one on Saturday but accidentally choose Ground shipping. Called on Monday and changed it to 2nd Day Air. We were later notified that there was a problem with the credit card used, so we called back on Tuesday. The sales rep was very nice, but he tried to upsell us a little bit (just doing his job so no biggie). We declined any extras, but he upgraded out shipping to Next Day Air for no extra charge. It shipped out Tuesday and we had it Wednesday! Very pleasant experience, recommended!"

I called Wed to check status on the order, and was given prompt attention. No attempt to upsell at all. I received the camera on Friday via Fedex 2-day using their standard shipping option."
"I bought a Canon G-6 from them and it had issues so i called them for and exchange all went well until they told me I will be charged 10% restocking fee. I asked why I am not returning for credit I just want another camera. They more or less said tough luck that is their policy and has been for sometime. I have bought from them before and even sent back a camera and they exchanged it gladly but I guess that is no longer true. In the past I have highly recommended them but will no longer do so."
"This company is fraud. I was attracted to their low prices and *seemingly* good reviews. Turns out I didn't dig deep enough in the reviews, or I would have found out who they really were.
I ordered my digital camera on Saturday April 3rd. It is now Monday, April 13, and I still have not received a tracking number. The first time I called, I got a response and was told two different stories by two different salespeople (one said it's already shipped, the other said it will be shipped). Well, that was exactly a week ago and guess what? I have since e-mailed and called with no response. The calling service says it is CLOSED even though I am calling during the right hours, specified by the phone message. Next time I get a hold of something near-human I am going to cancel my order. Thankfully it looks like they haven't charged my card yet.
These people are lying cheats. Stay away... FAR away!!"
"Buying an expensive Camera on the Internet can be a scary prospect. My experience with Butterfly Photo was anything but. I ordered my Camera on a Wed morning at possibly the best price on the net. Living on the west coast and ordering from New York, I assumed a good wait for processing and shipping. My camera arrived on Friday afternoon. Less than 60 hours from my order. There was no phone call to try to sell me additional items, warranties or anything else. The Camera (Nikon CP 8700) arrived in perfect condition and exactly as ordered. I cannot praise Butterfly enough, and will be buying from them for years based on this experience."
